Business Owner

Third generation tree worker and owner operator of The Coastal Arborist Tree Care Company, Joshua Spears is pleased to return to the Comox Valley. Spears was raised on Hornby Island and went to Lake Trail and Vanier schools in Courtenay. He came to his vocation, as if it were a family business; his grandfather; W.E. «Bill» Parker was an arborist at Stanford University, while his father, Jon Spears worked in the big trees of Northern California. Growing up on Hornby Island he was never far from tree work, his family has operated portable sawmills on the island since the late 1970’s. Josh also spent time with coastal fallers at a young age, learning to handle a saw and fall trees to the industry standard. Josh is an ISA Certified Arborist and certified danger tree assessor.
