Really great gelato. I got a tub of the ferraro roche gelato which was very creamy and delicious. We also got a chocolate brownie cake which was dry and not a huge fan! Id rather just stick with the gelato! The seating is nice, comfy. Free parking in the front. Friendly staff. Great place to check out for a late night desert;)

Good Gelato. .nice ambiance. but that’s where I’d stop. Been here a few times and tried a lot of different cakes… not a fan. The cakes are way too dense, so much so that it takes away from the pleasure of eating. Would recommend the ferrero rocher cake(you just know this one’s going to be rich), but not the mango mousse.

Best gelato and tiramisu in town. So far, trying my best to taste every single dessert and none of them have disappointed.

Italian pastries, excellent. Great Gelato. Espresso. Nice chic Italian decore. Open late. Lots of tables.

This place was great when it first opened. I don’t know if it has changed owners or they changed suppliers on their desserts, but it is no longer worth going to. Their tiramisu has a layer of dry, tasteless chocolate sponge cake on the bottom — not sure if they’ve ever had proper tiramisu before? But it’s not supposed to have that! It completely takes away from the mascarpone cream(which tastes more like regular whipped cream) and it hardly has any true coffee flavour. We went there for my Mom’s birthday and out of 4 desserts, only 1 actually tasted nice. The rest were either stale or completely tasteless(mango cheesecake, tiramisu, raspberry mousse cake, and caffe gelato) — the gelato was the only good one, and even then, not the best. Their coffee tastes good, but that’s not enough to get me to go back. The service is pretty bad too. I complained to the man who appeared to be the owner that there were people smoking right outside the front doors(clearly posted non-smoking) and he didn’t seem to care at all. In fact, I think they were either his friends or family members. I’m 8 months pregnant and walking through a cloud of second-hand smoke is a deal breaker for me. Another reviewer likened this place to True Confections??? No way! True Confections’ tiramisu is flawless, their cheesecakes are fantastic without being overly sweet, and their English trifle is worth driving from Coquitlam to Point Grey for!(I mentioned I’m pregnant right LOL) All in all, it’s not a bad place to go for a coffee and a cake in the Tri-Cities, but they need to sort out their quality and maybe bring in a new supplier on some of their desserts. Trying to push that they are«house made» is rubbish — anyone with a mouth knows those are not«house made» desserts. They came off the back of a truck just like at every other place. The cookie skillet at Orrange in Poco, molten chocolate cake at Joey(2 minutes from Campari’s), or the brownie at Brown’s in Coquitlam or Port Moody — way more worthwhile than this place.

Horrible experience. I actually have visited Cumpari’s before and my experience usually left me confused but at the same time, somewhat satisfied(I’m a sucker for gelato). But today, I am never going to back to this place. I ordered a peppermint tea(they should also stack up on their tea selection), and like one reviewer stated before me, they charge for a hot water refill, which I find ridiculous. The list doesn’t finish here– I had ordered a biscotti and when I bit into it, it tasted a little bit stale. I’m usually one not to complain about the food to the server, but I decided to let them know. After I told the server at the front that it tasted stale, she just replied with a «Sorry, they just baked them today. Maybe the biscotti just tastes like that.» I was a little bit shocked because instead of trying to make my experience a little bit better(usually people offer a new product, or at least try to look sympathetic), all I got was a poker faced«sorry,» as the server expected me to go back to my seat. It was very awkward as I just stood flabbergasted and then turned around to leave. (Their small gelato ice cream scoops are also not worth your money. The ice cream servers kind of scrapes the top of your scoop to flatten the whole gelato down.) So, customer service was not helpful at all. I don’t blame the server though– there must be some issues with management if their workers aren’t happy either. Unhappy workers = unhappy customers.

You go here for the atmosphere. Heavy cast iron chairs, glass tables, deep stained wood accents. The gelato is ok, passable. The baked treats are alright, just satisfactory. They charge for hot water, which is interesting. Very european inspired. The staff seem like they are extended family members and they really don’t enjoy working there. It feels like they were arm twisted into this, and they would rather be working towards their CPA or CFP designation. I really wish they would hire more professional staff. There’s really no other establishment in the area with this kind of atmosphere and food. Everything else is asian or a franchise chain.

Good coffee, good cake:) This is the only place near me that has decent coffee(my other two choices are Timmy’s and McDonald’s). I like their coffee, LOVE their baked goods! I am not a fan of gelato, so can’t really comment on that. Overall, this place gets a yay.

I was here one night just because I was in Coquitlam meeting up my bf and I craved gelato. Before coming here, friends told me its one of the better gelato places in Coquitlam but I’m not exactly sure about that after paying a visit. It was a weekend and I noticed a fair bit of people there but they closed up their upper section. But it was fine cause it’s not like there wasn’t enough tables and chairs that people had to stand. The people behind the counters looked mostly Italians. Their sizes of cups and scoops look kinda small to me and the price that they charge was average. I got the 2 scoop one which was about 5 or 5 something. I don’t remember exactly which flavours but they were fruity ones. Tasted pretty good and there were little bits of the fruits in it. But asides from that it tasted no different from other gelato places. I did see that they had other Italian pastries, coffee and stuff. But nothing that really draws me into this place. Like I would drive by, see it and continue driving. They do have a relatively big parking lot that fits I would say maybe 20 cars. Overall, I would say it’s ok. Don’t see myself driving this far for gelato though.

If you can avoid going here and visit another café, do so. Here are some points to be aware of: — Their«housemade» cakes couldn’t be any less housemade; they taste as if they’ll been sitting in the display case for days and guess what… they have been! Everything just tastes old and bland. — Their«housemade»(see first point) Gelato is overpriced and you can receive a better tasting product at other local places. — They love saying items are«housemade»; all lies. — They’ll let anyone into the café. Not even sitting for 20 minutes, my group was approached by some random man that entered asking for money to support some group on a «mission». What?! Imagine that happening anywhere else! Not a chance! — The one good I’ll say is their staff is at least welcoming. As I said before if you can avoid it, do so. There are many other local cafes that provide an improved experience.

My sister took me here as a surprise dessert when visiting her. This placed used to be the old Burger King and now they sell Gelato and desserts, very little in the savory department. Prices are decent for the dessert. I found it funny how there were no two seaters but rather large tables that housed 4 — 6 people at once. There is no wifi. They’re open late on most days. Customer service was very decent.

The environment is nice, casual but a bit flashy. Usually very full. The selection of gelato is also nice. I’ve been three times, the first two times went off without a hitch. The gelato is a little pricey but its so delicious. The third and most recent time I visited however there was a hair in my gelato. I brought it to the attention of the cashier and he quietly said«Thank you for not making a big deal of it» he replaced the gelato and I was on my way.

Meh. Staff weren’t friendly. Most didnt seem like they wanted to be there. Was told that they had a 2 sample max policy after I had finished my second tasting. Ordered the coffee as that’s my usual go-to. It was just ok, nothing spectacular. Although I did try the Oreo and it was unreal! Everytime I drive by this place it’s always busy. Even in the winter. Lots of people inside sipping on coffees and socializing. Maybe it’s because I prefer ice cream(more bang for your buck?) but I probably won’t be coming back here for a while. A bit too expensive for what you get.

Overpriced, stingy, shady! I’ve been here a few times and have not really been impressed with the service or value. Last time I was here I decided never to come back. Here’s why: the price for their gelato, which I found subpar, is too much, the server purposely created a cave of gelato in our cups to make it look like a big serving when in fact it was mostly air, the the cashier/owner overcharged me on purpose. Only when he noticed I was trying to calculate the price in my head did he admit he overcharged us and gave me back a loonie. Although they have a fancy cash register, he uses a calculator to add the prices together and then puts the full amount into the cash register. That’s pretty dodgy as you can’t see the individual items on your receipt, or any extras he may have added to the total. Be wary, very wary, coming to this place!

Have been here twice over the last 6 years and been disappointed and disgusted Ordered cake and tasted like it had been sitting out for days. Gelato is good but overpriced. The kicker is that the owner is rude and not sure but has something against Asians. Came with my entire extended family — over 10 adults and we were just planning our order and he says to me. I hope you are ordering more than drinks … We left immediately. Will never go to this place again. Too bad the location is good.

We stopped by later in the evening, wanting to get some dessert to go. I like that they have a huge parking lot, and they are open relatively later than the other businesses in the area. When you walk into the place, it is suprisingly large as well, with a gelato bar on one side and the desserts on the other. We ordered a lemon tart with white chocolate, as well as a mango mousse cake. While both were decent. the two small desserts came out to over $ 15. Next time, I would skip the desserts and try the gelato, which looked pretty good.

One of my favorite things to eat in dessert is pretty much pistachio anything and their pistachio gelato hit the spot! I spotted a pistachio mousse cake, but I was too full so that will be for next time. If I’m in the area in the future and I have room for dessert, I’ll most likely swing by. They’re open late enough so I can pop in for some sweets. The only downside seem to be the sizing, it’s a little small for the amount you’re paying.

Went on a random adventure this weekend out to North Road and stumbled upon Cumpari’s. Busy and packed? Always a good sign so we decided to stop by. Excellent assortment of desserts here. We had the chocolate tiramisu and the apple crumble. Both were delicious! It’s always so hard to decide what to order when everything looks so good. The main drawback is the price though. $ 8 per slice is a bit steep in my books. The prices remind me of True Confections, but the ambience and quality is so much better. That being said though, there’s nothing that really wow’ed me enough to push this place to 4 stars. Regardless though, it’s pretty neat hangout place if you’re in the area.

Garth C. is TOTALLYMEAN :(He called me out for being selfish about keeping my «gems» to myself. :( That pistachio gelato and cake… I loved it. How could I not say no to pistachio, yes it is my favourite flavour of ice cream: P The pistachio ice cream was delicious, the strawberry was very light and fruffy, but the ferror rocher was ugh… It was so heavy and full of fudge, it didn’t taste like ferror rocher at all either. ew. It was not even hazel nut… at all. I was totally disappointed. SIGH. One thing I realized when I entered the place was that the people who work there gave this weird gaze, it was a judging gaze. I felt so awkward that I had to avoid eye contact at all times with the staff there… It didn’t feel welcoming at all. I felt like I was looked down upon? What ever, anyways, the place is kept some what clean? They would be very attentive with the tables, and the customers come here seem to be mostly Italians. Even though most Italians live in the Burnaby Heights area… They would drive all the way across town to just come here. Will come back, and try to update my next review on here again if I don’t get anymore judging looks from the staff. It’s not really a store, I am not going to steal cakes or ice cream through the glass :(
