For lunch today, NW and I went to Sushi Boss in Coquitlam. It’s just a little restaurant on the corner of Robson and Pinetree Way so don’t expect a lot of seating area. I’ve had takeout from here before but it was my first time eating in. We were surprised and delighted that they gave us a complimentary salad and 2 pieces of gyoza. The salad also included edamame, apple slices, and orange which was awesome. I really liked the dressing. It was was like a citrus/miso combination. The gyozas were cooked fresh and very hot when they came out so that was great :) We got one order of the Fire Cracker Roll($ 11). It had seared spicy tuna on top, avocado, crab meat, and prawn tempura inside. It was pretty good but could be spicier. It had a good amount of smokiness though and I thought it tasted better with some of the lemon. We also got a Dynamite Combo($ 9). There were 6 pieces of Dynamite Roll and 1 piece each of salmon, tuna, and ebi nigiri. For this one, I could tell that the rolls were poorly made. They were cut unevenly and the rice was too loose so the sushi fell apart easily. Other than that, it tasted just like a regular Dynamite Roll. The fish seemed fine too. The service was pretty good(we were the only customers at the time). She was friendly, refilled our drinks, and cleared our dishes promptly. :) Overall, not bad but I thought the prices were a bit steep for a small sushi place like this. The complimentary salad somewhat makes up for it though! Food — 7.5÷10 Service — 9⁄10 Ambience — 8⁄10 Value — 7.5÷10

I don’t know why everyone else gave sushi boss such good reviews. Unfortunately this place only has good service and atmosphere but really nothing else. The food that we had ordered was not tasty at all. The rolls were soggy and didn’t feel very fresh. The udon noodle soup tasted like they added lots of MSG in it. Personally I don’t think I will be back again.

Delicious and affordable! I try and stop by when ever I’m close by. Very fresh and great selection. They also give you a salad to start and it is perfect! If you love sushi then I would highly recommend checking this place out. Yum yum!

Great friendly service. Love how they use grain fed beef and chicken and fresh ingredients. Teriyaki has more of a Korean twist to it but if u like Korean short ribs u will like their beef. They let u customize rolls which is really fun. Customized an unagi and mango roll with tobiko which was delicious. They always include a small free side dessert or fruit for customers. Give them a try!

Friendly staff. We were seated right away and the food came quickly. The sushi was decent, but the rolls were a bit too big– the individual pieces were too large. Overall good value.

A definite little gem especially if you live in the area. I decided to check it out after a hike at Belcarra. Tucked in a small plaza in the burbs it’s a quaint little spot. Not a lot of seating. Friendly staff, chill music, fresh tasty sushi that is nicely presented. Great little spot.

My husband and I have been bringing our dear son — jj to Sushi Boss quite a few times now. This is a tiny little sushi joint that offers fresh raw fish(sashimi) and authentic ingredients in their sushi rolls. The first thing I love about this place is they would only use sockeye salmon and the not farmed salmon. Farm salmon is out of our grocery list ever since I met my husband. He told me how horrible the farmed salmon was. Looking forward to go back with my family whenever I get a chance.

I came across Sushi Boss while I was looking up a new sushi restaurant to try in Coquitlam. Rated highly on Urbanspoon with rave reviews from diners, I needed to go try this out for myself to find out how good this was. Sushi Boss is located in a small plaza at the corner of Robson Drive and Pinetree Way in Coquitlam, part way up Westwood Plateau. With limited parking spaces, this hole in the wall sushi restaurant isn’t too hard to spot as the rest of the area consists of residential housing. A small restaurant with limited seating inside, they’ve also setup a couple of tables outside as well for those diners wanting to eat out on a nice day. I suspect most people who live in the area probably take-out their food as to not having to wait for a table. We arrived around 6:30pm and it was quite busy. We managed to grab a small table in front of the cash area. Service was quick and friendly. We were offered self-serve complimentary tea and water. Sushi Boss touts itself as healthy options including free-range meat and wild salmon on its menu. They also offer several specialty rolls including a Hickory Bacon Roll(yes, Bacon!) consisting of 3 strips of bacon, asparagus, avocado, spicy tuna, topped with honey mustard and spicy sauce. As my hubby and I weren’t too hungry, we opted to try two combos to share. We ordered the Sashimi Combo and the Sushi Boss Combo. Our order was taken quickly, and to our surprise we were offered a couple of freshly fried gyozas and side salad to start. The Sashimi Combo came with slices of wild salmon and tuna sashimi, along with an Ebi(shrimp) nigiri, Tuna nigiri, and Wild Salmon nigiri and California roll. The sashimi was fresh, and we loved the wild salmon versus the farmed salmon commonly served at most restaurants. This combo cost $ 13.50, a bit more than other restaurants around the area, however, the quality is higher than other places. The Sushi Boss Combo consists of Alaska Roll, Dynamite Roll and Chef’s Choice — a secret not revealed until you are served, so it can be different with each order. For our order, the Chef’s choice turned out to be 2 Chopped Scallop Nigiris and 2 Aburi Nigiris(seared tuna). We really enjoyed the Alaska Roll with the smoked salmon, as well as the Aburi nigiris. I’m normally not a tuna fan, however when it’s seared correctly and topped with a light vinagrette sauce, it was delicious! At $ 14 this plate for one person is actually quite filling. Sushi Boss 4Overall we were both quite full after the two combos. Although a bit pricier than other sushi restaurants, we liked the quality of the dishes, and will be back to try more specialty rolls in the future.

I absolutely love this Mom N Pop sushi resto. We use it for take out and small meals for 4 people(small place). The resto is super clean, friendly and FULL of delish sushi. Our fav is wild salmon sashimi and the ninja roll! Today I tried the vegan roll and it was AMAZING(with black rice). They have organic coffee and chicken/beef with zero hormones/organic.

Love to support small biz and all… The good: small place; service is attentive. At first glance, price is better than the other bigger sushi joints What could they do better to make me want to come back? Serving size. The rolls were also falling apart; the rice didn’t taste like pure Japanese rice. I wanted to discover a sushi gem based on Unilocal reviews… I was mildly disappointed. Now, I gotta hear my better half talk about this for the next century for picking this place!

Since moving to TriCities from East Van two years ago, we’ve been on the hunt for our new regular local sushi spot. Sure Nagano and Sushi Mori are nice but they were way pricier than we would have liked for a regular everyday sushi place. We were used to the fabulously fresh and budget friendly Sushiyama in East Van(if you’re in the area, it’s the greatest!) and were searching for something closer to home. After searching on Unilocal and Urbanspoon, I came across Sushi Boss. The reviews are all raving and now I can see why… They are super cute inside and out. The service was Ah-May-Zing! So sweet and friendly! She took our orders and promptly surprised us with a salad on the house! Simple and tasty vinaigrette with fresh seasonal tomatoes, strawberries and blueberries atop crisp iceberg(not watery!) with a couple crispy veggie gyozas! He had a combo for 14 $ and yam tempura. The combo was giant and the yam was thinly sliced and very generous. I got the gomae, salmon-avo roll, and some nigiri. Everything was super fresh, and tasty. We weren’t rushed to leave and were treated so nicely! The place was clean and super simple with adorable details throughout, without seeming like your regular kitschy sushi joint. The menu was concise and easy to read. Loved this place so much and we’re thrilled to finally have our fave local sushi place in our new hood. Try it-you’ll love it!

Absolutely Fantastic!!! The best sushi that I have had in the Vancouver area. I started off with a complimentary salad. I’m not usually a salad person and wouldn’t normally order a salad from a sushi restaurant, but this salad was absolutely amazing and the dressing was to die for. They could just bottle this dressing and sell it in the super market and it would be a good business. Next I had their miso soup, its heavier on the green onions and has larger chunks of tofu than the other miso soups I’ve had and was also much better. To me the amount of green onions makes the miso soup and the more the better. Then I had the Philadelphia roll deep fried. All I can say is, if you haven’t had it, get it. Not only was the food great, but the customer service was excellent. The young lady that served us remember our names from making a reservation earlier and was very friendly. The best customer service I’ve received from any of the sushi places that I have been to. I would highly recommend going to Sushi Boss! That’s the only place I will be going to from now on.

Best sushi I have ever had. You do not get better customer service than this, and their quality is phenomenal. It’s wallet friendly, and very clean in there. I have nothing bad to say at all about them. Do yourself a favour and go as soon as you can!
