Very good Suchi restaurant. We love it here and often dine in. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a delightfully Japanese theme

Unfortunately the Coquitlam location has burned down, but they do have another location in Langley. Hopefully they will reopen somewhere in Coquitlam soon

Closed due to fire. Huge shame as it was great sushi. I hope they come back stronger and more beautiful than before.

Came here with a friend who is visiting from China. She is formerly from here and loves this place. We ordered 2 pieces uni nigiri, 2 pieces Saba nigiri, salmon sashimi, special tuna baked nigiri, their special sashimi tower(can’t remember what it was called but it had marinated tuna, salmon, crab, and avocado stacked in a tower), bliss roll and the French kiss roll. All raw fish was very fresh. The baked tuna nigiri is quite spicy but tuna was a bit dry. The tower was definitely the highlight of the meal and a good value at 12.95. The rolls are quite over the top, however I’m not sure I would order both again as there are so many other rolls on the menu to try. Came here with a car seat and staff were accommodating by giving us a roomy table in the centre of the restaurant. Sitting below the cherry blossom trees, this was an excellent meal and I will return.

A solid sushi joint with lots of options, including some Korean dishes. Special points for the indoor décor. The space was decorated with a plethora of cherry blossom trees, which was kind of neat, in a you-know-they’re-fake-but-it’s-still-cute kind of way. Onto the food… The menu is almost too overwhelming with its large collection of specialty rolls with names such as Barbie Doll, Rock n Roll, and Hula Hula. I wonder if the chef has memorized them all? The classic rolls are solid(negitoro, negihama). I was a bit unsure of the other rolls because there seemed to be so much going on, I was skeptical of the flavor combinations. I might have to go back and try them another time. Sushi & rolls are a good value. The okonomiyaki was disappointing as it lacked flavour. There was a lot of emphasis on cabbage and not much else. I tried the jalapeño hamachi sashimi which sounded good but was so-so. There were about 5 – 6 pieces of hamachi with jalepeno slices on top. Surprisingly not spicy at all. We also ordered the seasoned spicy chicken. Again this was so-so. The suave was very interesting and had good flavour. However at this restaurant they tend to overdo it with sauces, and the chicken wings were victim to this treatment as well. In the end, the sauce overpowered the chicken and it made it a bit difficult to eat. Overall, it was a good experience. Staff was friendly, food was decent. Would I come back? Yes, I would try it again, but I would order different items next time.

I have always enjoyed coming here for my regular dose of sushi — the setting is great and the food fresh. I have however been recently disappointed with the service, the severs appear rushed and don’t bother to take their time to take our order properly. We went in during a slow period today and one of the servers was wiping down the table a booth away. When I signalled to her that We were ready to order, she just said: what do you want to order? from where she was, continuing to wipe down the table rather than coming over. She seemed annoyed we were disturbing her while she was doing something else. I also noticed over the last few times that I have been there that they are using chipped plates and soy sauce holders. this would not have been done in the past when standards were higher! Unfortunately, this has made me reconsider this place as my regular spot for sushi and Japanese food!

Sushi Mori breaks the boring«Suburban Sushi» mold by décor(the place feels like a patio in a cherry blossom grove) and better-than-average quality food and options. It is always busy on Friday and Saturday evenings, and makes for surprisingly good people watching. I appreciate how quick they are on takeout — I consistently order takeout during peak hours, and it is done in 10 – 15 minutes. I also found the servers to be more outgoing and fun than many comparable places.

I don’t usually enjoy fusion food but I love how this place has traditional and new fusion type dishes. Really delicious! Friendly people and beautifully decorated. Try the sake margarita. Yummy

The best atmosphere in any sushi restaurant out there, but the food has always been sub-par and over priced. Good for if you want to entertain someone, but not the place to get your regular sushi fix, or take out.

Upon walking into this cute little establishment, I was promptly greeted and seated quickly. I had brought my bearded dragon with me in a small cage(I arrived an hour early for a vet visit and was starving), and they were kind enough to let me him in-providing I didn’t take him out of his cage. The décor is amazing with the two tall(fake) sakura trees contrasted against the wall’s dark polished wood. The food was also delicious, I order the Tuna & Salmon Sashimi and the Crispy Coconut Tuna Sashimi. The fish was cut thick and tasted fresh, I really liked the crunch of the coconut and the very lightly cooked outside of the tuna. This place is a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for, and this place is definitely worth a trip to Coquitlam!

More like 3.5 stars — nicely décor’ed place, sushi quality fairly good, service was… average — once you got the waitress’ attention. I’m not asking for her to have eyes on the back of her head. But when the place honestly isn’t that busy, and we’re seated right in the center of the restaurant with only the table behind us occupied… but anyhow. Overall not bad. Worthwhile coming back for, but I think I’ll bring in a flag with me to wave next time.

We came here on an early Friday night for dinner and had a good time. As everyone mentions in the previous reviews, the interior of Sushi Mori is very nice: cherry blossom trees that are lit up, as well as lots of wood décor. We were seated in the middle section of the restaurant, so we sat on the bench seating(with seat cushions). We were there before the 7PM dinner crowd, so we were able to get our food and eat pretty quickly. We got: Agadashi tofu(~$ 5): the tofu was fried in a crisp and nice way, with the soy-type sauce that wasn’t too salty(this was pretty good) Teriyaki salmon don($ 13): this was good as well, and came in a stone pot(similar to Korean dolsot) Bento box with teriyaki beef($ 15): I liked this as well. The bento box came with both sushi and sashimi, egg rolls, tempura(came out lukewarm, though), and chopped teriyaki beef and rice. The meal also came with sunomono and miso soup). Including tax, everything came out to less than $ 40. If I was judging solely on the food, I would rate it 3 ½ stars. However, with the ambience and fast service, I am rounding up to 4 stars.

Had a great dinner here, beyond the very cool looking interior, the Philidelphia roll was amazingly delicious along with the rest of our meal. Great attentive, fast and friendly service. My only criticism was that the miso soup seemed a little watery. Still 5 stars though!

Sushi Mori is right on Barnet Hwy in Port Moody at a plaza with lots of parking. We entered the restaurant and were welcomed by the staff as soon as we walked in(they greet you in japanese). Their menu is huge! I wasn’t sure were to start, lots of options from appetizers, cold tapas, hot tapas, salads, rolls, nigiris, sushi, sashimi, yaki sobas, udons, hot plates, hot pots, desserts, etc…(take deep breath… yes! It was huge!). The waiters were young, fast and knowleadgeable about their menu. The service was fast as well. The place was packed on Sunday evening and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The décor is pretty neat! I love the trees inside the restaurant(cherry blossoms?), they have beautiful wood all over the place and I really liked the customized japanese booths. After trying to figure out what we wanted from the menu, we ordered and got the food within 10 minutes. Everything was very fresh, however, it lacked a bit in presentation for the prices they have. They aren’t cheap and they aren’t super expensive but it is definitely higher than an average to good sushi restaurant. The cheapest bento boxes I saw go for $ 14.95, however they come with sashimi besides all the regular stuff, so that makes them reasonable. The rolls are on the small side though. I tried their spicy tuna and their chopped scallop and tobiko roll(pretty standard), their chicken yakisoba rocks! They have a cold tapa: Yakko which I didn’t really like much(chilled tofu with a special sauce and green onions) but I did like their tempura(perfect amount of batter, nice tasty vegetables and the prawns were huge and delicious!). The serve their green tea in a cute little stone kettle(very quaint!) and the tea cups are cute. I would give them 5 stars for décor and speed; 4 stars for service and freshness and 3 stars for flavours and presentation. Total rating: 3.5 stars. I really loved the little chocolate treats they bring with the bill!!!(Yum!) and I will definitely go back. I LOVED their atmosphere!

This place has one of the most beautiful decors. Inside, there are traditional tatami rooms and cherry blossoms that light up the atmosphere. The service is good and so is the food. The lunch and dinner boxes are a tremendous deal, and if you’re lucky, at the end of your meal, you will receive complimentary chocolate cookies that are completely out of place at a Japanese restaurant, but are so good that you will be so happy to have had such an odd experience. They melt in your mouth! Seriously people, just order whatever so you can get some of those awesome cookies!

The first thing that catches your eye as you walk in is the elborate interior decorations of their imitation sakura trees and bamboo surroundings. It’ll allow you to have a mid-summer picnic feel. Kinda boosts up your expectation for the food! And you won’ be let down. They have a very very very large selection of items you can order. From original rolls, to fancy smanchy rolls that are a delight to try as well. They also have a wide variety of hot items such as the japanese pancake. Service is very nice, but a little bit on the slow side. Owner is really kind, and often times personally asks how we are doing. Also comes around with free pop! haha kinda makes you smile. Good dining experience as a whole :) And great picture opportunies~

Nothing wrong about non-Japanese owned Japanese restaurants, but there’s something to be said about Japanese-runned ones. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the staff was speaking Japanese, the décor of indoor imitation trees/brightly lit leaves reminded me of a place in Shibuya and the tea kettle of heavy cast iron felt like it was forged out of some mine in Northern Japan. Oh yeah, the food. Fresh. I came here with my brother and sisters’ families and we had a variety to woof on. My sister-in-law, of 5th generation Japanese descent had the Aburi Sashimi… totemo oishii deshita. This was the salmon toro with daikon salsa, marinated tuna, whole scallop variety. My brother and I had assorted sushi. Atarashii deshita… I loved the taco. One sister had the okonomiyaki, of course this is your Japanese pancake-like mix of different ingredients depending on the region of Japan. That was hearty. The kids and other sis, had donburi. Tasty, but a lot to eat… need doggy bag onigaishimasu. The staff was attentive, service was quick and the ingredients were all fresh, duh, we’re in Vancouver. OK, let’s say all of the above in Nihongo: Resustorant ga suki deshita. Kyodai no kodomo wa donburi to oyakodon o tabemashita. Imoto wa onigiri to okonomiyaki o taberu ototo wa sushi no tako o tabenai. ototo no tsuma wa sashimi o tabemashita. Watashi wa sushi tabemashita. sake to tara to aguro to sanma wa atarashii deshita. totemo oishii deshita… We’re in Canada, and we must repeat things in French: Mes soeurs, et mon frère, nièces et neveu sont allés à ce restaurant japonais agréable. Excellent. OK, for my Spanish friends who want to come up to B.C.: Mis hermanas, la cuñada, mi hermano, las sobrinas y el sobrino fueron a este restaurante japonés agradable. Alimento bien preparado y fresco. Excelente. OK, my Tagalog sucks, but we are a multi-lingual, multi-cultural family: Masarap talaga ang sushi. Maganda ang mga dekorsion. Listo listong ang mga mesero…(OK Daly City, please don’t lynch me, my Tagalog will eventually improve).

Our favorite local sushi spot, for take out or dine in. You’ll never meet friendlier staff, tho the service is sometimes a little… missing? The food is always fresh and well-created, and the value is the best we’ve found outside of downtown Vancouver.
