Been going to Smitty’s for years. Love the fact your treated like family and all the food is just like Mom made. It is the best morning after the night before spot with all day breakfast and cold beer.

Smitty’s is just good old fashioned comfort food, at a very reasonable price. Great to bring the kids along for a late breakfast on those sleepy weekends when you just don’t feel like cooking. Very friendly staff, and fast service.

Came here for lunch Easter Sunday. Place was packed but we were seated within 5 minutes. Good food good atmosphere pleasant service good prices.. Parking is a little cramped and it’s on the main drag in Dartmouth… So it’s busy and noticeable.

They have never made a mistake on my take out orders and I’ve always enjoyed the food and service when eating in the restaurant. I’ve never eaten off their dinner menu but their breakfast foods have been tried and true.

What started as the ultimate hangover spot quickly became our go-to restaurant when we want homey, down-to-earth comfort food without the effort of making it ourselves. I’ve been to several different Smitty’s, but this one is by far my favorite. While usually busy, it doesn’t take forever to get a table. The staff is always super friendly and professional. Plus, it’s close to home, which is really convenient on those Saturday mornings when I have a house full of still-buzzed house guests needing some grease to soak up last night’s mistakes. I like their all day breakfast menu. Their eggs are always cooked the way I like them, and their pancakes actually have flavour. If breakfast isn’t your thing, you’re bound to find something on their diverse menu. I like the taco salad when I want greens with a little more substance. Their burgers are alright and so is their steak sandwich. If you want something more traditional, they serve turkey, ham, ox tail, or liver and onions. One thing I will mention is that unless you’re into being the only ones there under 65, it might be a place to avoid on Sunday evenings. That place really turns into a raging hot spot for the senior crowd.

This is our«hang over» place. Not necessarily from a party hang over, but from jet-lag, busy previous day and overslept, etc. I can always count on their food to be consistently good, reasonably prices and the staff are usually excellent. We sit in our booth cradling our teas and comment on how this is «comfort food». Comfort… that is the word for Smitty’s. They get bumped up to 4 stars for having a seniors menu that anyone can order from with smaller portion sizes. Ideal for the not-so-big eaters.

I don’t mean to get all shmoopy on you guys, but I really did just have a lovely experience at this Smitty’s. Before tonight, I had only visited one other Smitty’s location and only because I was desperately hungover and couldn’t find another all-day breakfast. And no, that’s not the shmoopy part. My parents’ aunt and uncle come here every single Sunday night and order the same meal every time. Sometimes my folks join them but because I’m a self-involved, good-for-nothing twenty-something, I simply never made time to come along. Yes-I am a jerk. But tonight we decided to jump on board to catch up with my visiting cousin who was in town and two young cousins(four and six) who all came along. So… a total of nine people ranging in age from kids to folks in their seventies. Add to that that one of our party has been living with Alzheimer’s for several years, and you can imagine that we wouldn’t be the easiest table to manage. The folks at Smitty’s? Well, they’re pros in exactly this type of situation. They treat my older relatives like absolute royalty. Everyone knows them by name and order, and are more than happy to help out my great-aunt with whatever she needs so that her husband is able to sit back and relax even just a little bit on this one night of every week. Honestly, watching the servers interact with them made me a little weepy(despite my cold, ‘millennial who works for the internet’ heart) in a good way. They were just as easily able to decode surprisingly complicated orders from our resident six-year-old(«mac ‘n cheese with the fruit cup side but only with watermelon…») and offer crayons and colouring sheets for Mr. Four. Yep — I was impressed. While I’m neither here nor there about the food, I give them credit for offering a wide range of comfort food at a reasonable price and ready quick. But most of all, this is one restaurant that knows how to take care of its customers. I won’t be back every Sunday, but I’m definitely going to be back for more of them from here on out.

This is definitely not a «now and happening place». It is a nice place to go with family and friends for a friendly atmosphere, good reliable food and no piped in music. Think parents, aunts, uncles and others who are worth chatting to with the cell phone turned off. Tuck this recommendation away in the back of your mind until the occasion arises with company visiting from out of town — the family will thank you for it.
