Top Dog Groom and Bath House

Have taken both my dogs here numerous times. Have had very good experiences every time. They are very kind and patient with my pointer-​amstaff mix who has taken in the past 5 people to trim his nails at the vet (only takes two people here and he seems so much more at ease with the staff). My jack Russell looks great after every visit. Have not tried the self dog wash as of yet so can’t comment. Would recommend.

I was looking for a great place offering self-​serve dog bath services and this place seemed good, decent reviews, nice photos, etc. I was pretty impressed initially when I went inside, then a little bit thrown off by waiting 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge me and my friendly but excited 5 year-​old pointer mix, nevertheless I took him for a walk while the young staff member cleaned the tub and came back. Everything went really great for a first timer, he was perfect, model customer really, even the staff member seemed impressed. Just after he was rinsed, he got distracted by another dog and decided to be a bugger and jump over-​board. I was beyond surprised and didn’t know how to initially react except to ask for help! I was yelled at to pick him up, he was slippery, flailing around and I was shocked but was trying to disconnect the lead which was impossible. Anyhow, someone came to our rescue and he was fine although very shaken up. I didn’t want to scare him by putting him back in the tub, however I would have appreciated the staff being understanding and helpful. They gave me a towel and suggested I dry him off. I thought that was what the blower was for, which I assume comprises part of the fee, which I was charged in full for. I was basically rushed out the door with a wet dog. no drying, and no brush afterwards. The other staff member seemed genuinely annoyed with me and my awesome boy and the whole situation, which was not the end of the world. I know the fact is my dog shouldn’t have done that, but things happen, were all human, and canine. Needless to say, I will not make another trip to this place due to the basic lack of friendliness, the unwelcome feeling upon arrival, and the lack of understanding, concern, and care for their customers. I wont be recommending this place to anyone I know unfortunately.

I’m a first time pet owner of a beautiful yorkie named Matilda. One thing I figured out pretty early as I started getting Matilda groomed: your dog shouldn’t look miserable when they leave the groomers. I’ve taken her to a few different places to be groomed and she has not been a happy puppy upon leaving – nor I, a happy owner. I haven’t liked the way she was cut and upon speaking to the groomers I never got a satisfactory resolution to the matter.
Then Top Dog opened closer to home. I went in and was immediatly happy with the space, cleanliness and the warmth of the business. The groomer came right up and introduced herself and encouraged me to let Matilda off her leash to wonder around and get acquainted. Since it was quiet I asked if she could bathe and tidy Matilda up. She took Matilda right in with her, and she only whined a little.
The facilities were obviously designed by someone who cared about their profession. There is no jerry-​rigging of mechanics here. It’s all about grooming dogs in comfortable and safe environments.
I asked the groomer questions about the products she was using and she was very knowledgable. She treated even Matilda to a blueberry facial.
Matilda had lots of bounce in her step and a silly puppy smile when she hopped off the table and ran back to me. This was what I expected her to be like after a grooming. Needless to say, Top Dog is the only business I’ll be taking her too from now on.

Just noticed that this new pet grooming spot opened up right next to my beloved Dave’s Fruit & Vegetable Market making it easy for me to pop over today for some fresh veggies and the dreaded nail-​clipping. The owner was working away on a very fuzzy client when I arrived but said she’d be glad to help me out when she wrapped up in about ten minutes. Piece of cake!
While you can tell Top Dog is definitely all about the grooming with what look like custom-​built doggy baths, drying areas, and everything else you need when you’re paraded with dirty dogs, there are some treats, bags of Fromm dog food, toys, and even specialty products like the Thundershirt.
The clipping was easy-​breezy without too much resistance from the puppies except when she tried to take one of them herself by the leash. But, with a quick adjustment involving me holding my dog like a baby, we were off to a much better start and a quick finish. I really appreciated that she took multiple small cuts in order to make sure she didn’t hit any quicks in the process, making my life a heck of a lot easier as a result!
Now, this isn’t anything new to anyone who owns a dog but I don’t think I’ll ever get over how much nail-​clippings cost. Not that I can complain until I’m ready to start doing them myself at home (which won’t ever happen). The bill came to about $ 34 which is never that fun… but hey — the job’s done and I didn’t have to do it!
