We had a hankering for wings one night. After a failed experience at another local place, we went to Brewsters. Brewsters has never really struck me as amazaing, but is a place that is consistently«ok»…like a BP’s. Always the same, never exciting, but you know what you’re getting. This was not the case on Saturday, January 23, 2016. My wife and I got there first. There was going to be 5 of us so we pulled two tables together in the bar side. The server came over and took our drink orders. We tried to joke around a little to lighten the mood as she seemed very serious and I am not. She explained to us in great detail that we were not allowed to change seats throughout the evening as that would mess up here order taking. Whatever… So the rest of our group arrives and she takes everyone’s drink orders. Then she comes back to take our food orders and indicates that she is going to start on one side and go around the table. She is adamant that this cannot be altered or heaven forbid, our orders might come out incorrectly. My wife makes an order for wings and this is this the point when she informs us that wings are half price. So she asks my wife if she would like a second order at half price and I ask«well can my order be her second order?». The look she gave me made me and the other men at the table cringe. She looked so angry that I just shut my mouth and waited my turn. There was a literal hush at the table. Then my turn came. Terrified, I placed my order — an order of mild wings. Now, I realize that«mild» was not an option on the menu. A less indignant server would have said, «Sorry, we don’t have mild, but would you like easy sauce hot wings?» Oh no… this masterpiece of misery said with a the tone of a pissed off teenager who was just told she can’t go to spring dance because of the half-naked pics she sent her boyfriend says«THEWINGFLAVOURSAREONTHEMENU!» So, Manager or whoever reads this, know this: If you intend to make any degree of profitablility of this restaurant, which by the head count on that Saturday night may not be in the cards, I recommend you get rid of this server. You know who she is. She knows who she is. She is the one that’s costing you money. Oh, and she has long, dark hair. And she is the most acerbic, caustic, grumpy, and unpleasant server I have ever had. And she is the reason I will never, ever, ever go to a Brewsters ever again.

Beer is great, food is delicious. The only thing I didn’t appreciate is the server. I asked for a glass of water, which I received but had lipstick stains all over it. My friend and I were ready to pay and go and our server dropped off the bill and left quickly. My friend tried to go to the bar to pay but was brought back to the table. Our server made a very passive aggressive, snarky remark to us, saying, «People are just SO demanding.» Obviously an unappreciated comment, and presented at the worst time(paying the bill). I hope that this doesn’t happen again next time I am in.

I meet clients around Oliver and this Brewsters is about the same as the others. Food is decent and service is generally prompt during the day. It’s not 5 star dining but that’s not what it tries to be. They have a good selection of unique beers that are exclusive to Brewsters(well they brew it themselves).

Today, we came during happy hour and while our server did go over the daily specials, she didn’t go over the happy hour specials at all… nor were there any cards on the tables explaining what they were. I had to look them up on my phone. My peach beer was delicious — I recommend trying that if you go while they still have it(it’s a seasonal brew). My gyoza was terrible. I used to get it on the regular and I recall it being quite good. Either my memory is off or they’ve changed their recipe. But the dumplings are essentially filled with brown goop… it was about as appetizing as that sounds. But what really bothered me about the meal was that my friend ordered a mushroom soup and when her soup and salad arrived it was another kind altogether. The server apologized(when my friend commented) and said they had run out of mushroom. Um, what? You run out of what somebody orders and just replace it for them? Without asking? My friend doesn’t like to make a fuss so she said it was okay. But it ended up being way too salty and she didn’t even eat it. Did the server notice that the wrong meal that was brought out was uneaten and comped it on the bill? Nope. My friend was charged $ 12 for a meal she didn’t actually order.

Don’t waste your money eating at this ‘restaurant’ they’re more interested in making money from liquor and tips. As usual, I made a reservation for two for the dining room, specifying it was a business lunch. Of course when we arrived, we were asked if we wanted to dine in the bar even though I told them the reservation was for the dining room. I’d say their focus is liquor, they only serve food because they think people who drink won’t care what they’re being served. The entire restaurant had maybe a dozen people in it for noon lunch hour. I’ve eaten here five times for business lunch and its Very Overpriced for what you get. The portions are small and they’re cheap with their ingredients. I’m not a big person who overeats, I only weigh 115 pounds, but the portion size, including protein was so small I had to pick up something elsewhere to eat before I returned back to work! Given the recent economic downturn in Alberta’s oil and gas industry I can only imagine how much worse the meals they serve at this restaurant will get. We’ve decided to never eat at this restaurant again.

My boyfriend and I as well as our roomate decided to have an early dinner at Brewster’s today and found the experience to be very mixed. In terms of food everybody in our party was happy with the quality. For myself in particular I found that my buffalo chicken wrap had a nice spicy kick that I have not been able to find at other restaurants. I was a little disappointed as well to have paid an extra $ 1.99 to substitute my side with a Caesar salad only to have what I considered to be an absurdly small salad brought out. The service here was also kind of spotty. When the server was at the table she was charming and helpful in terms of offering order suggestions. However the wait for everything from placing the order, getting refills, and even just paying the bill seemed unnecessarily long considering the dining area was maybe a quarter full. All in all it was a very average three star experience. I would return if I was with someone who was eager to eat here but it is not at the top of my list for places I cannot wait to return too.

As usual go for lunch with some girlfriends at work. They are good at rushing our food when we request as we don’t have to much time to sit around. Today will be probably the last time I go to this location due to the horrible customer service, poor management skills and lack of dress code. It’s starts off by the hostess seating us in a booth. Very wide and comfortable to seat 4 I must say. The booth sits a little lower and table must stand 4 feet tall max. Our waitress who is dressed in the shortest shorts I have seen any grown woman to wear in a family Resturant waitressing came over and took our order. Not once was I able to look at our waitresses face due to what she was wearing. There was a point my co worker had asked me if her pubic hair was hanging out of her shorts as they were so short, not to mention the camel toe that was looking at me the 3 times she was over. She did not once ask us how our food was, was there anything we needed, desert menu etc. Another waitress came over to collect our payments as we asked to speak to a Manager. When the manager came over with the server and the other server who was taking out payment and she greeted us with«What’s up?» Not a hello or how can I help you? But what’s up? We explained the situation about the servers attire and she had an excuse about you know how hard it is to get up in the morning and get ready etc. sorry but REDFLAG right there. You have a job, you follow the policies and dress code. The manager joked in front of us with the server saying no more short shorts. Didn’t take us serious at all. I was taken back due to the poor management skills this lady had lacked with our situation. And made it more as a joke. As my girlfriends/co workers left we saw them all laughing making joke near the kitchen, which I must say we all heard. Not only was I offended with the attire but very disappointed in management. If someone was to ask me a good place to eat I would not recommend here unless you are not worried at possibly getting a pubic hair in your food.

When did Brewster’s adopt a tackier dress code than Hooters? Today at lunch when our waitress came up to our table, her barely there shorts barely resembled underwear. For those of you who think I am exaggerating, the height of the table came up to above her knees, yet there was still 4 inches of flesh showing! This isn’t meant as a dig at her personal appearance, if she was out at the lake or something, I wouldn’t have cared. But the last thing I want(and I am sure I speak for many) is to be ordering food with someone’s genitals rudely displayed in my face at table height, where I am going to be putting my food down to eat or cellulite ridden ass cheeks, hanging out the back as she walks away. And, no this isn’t another angry rant from a woman about other scantily clad woman. As someone who works in the bar industry, I understand the need to dress a certain way. However, there is a time and a place for it. When you are serving food? And at lunchtime on a weekday with kids around? It is, GROSS. If you are bartending in a night club, okay maybe. On my last couple visit’s to Brewster’s I have been appalled at the tacky appearance of the servers. And I could tell many others were disgusted. However, not every server is dressed the same, from observation it seems like the dress code is whatever you want as long as it is black. Yet, many of them have shorts on so short all you can see is camel toe. We asked if we were able to speak to a manger and one of the floor managers did come up to our table, however IMHO she failed to handle the situation properly in these ways: 1. Brought the waitress over with her(tactless) and greeted us with a «What’s Up?» 2. Shrugged and laughed off the issue about dress code, saying«Oh well you know it’s hard to decide what to wear to work when you get dressed in the morning.» –Not a valid excuse or explanation. 3. Did not ask, what was offensive about it/seemed to care that her customers were not happy, she just kept laughing 4. Stood at the hostess station with said waitress and others, gossiping about the situation –within earshot! On another note, I have to say that the food was delicious. I do recommend the fish and chips they are TOODIEFOR. However, the good food and specialty beer isn’t enough to make me want to go back here. I could get over tackily dressed wait staff, but horrible service(no quality checks, no refills on drinks, no upselling, no greeting telling us the specials, etc) accompanied with management that doesn’t care about addressing issues or customer concerns, makes this place really unappealing.

I’d like to give Brewster’s better than 3 stars because I’m actually a big fan of this place and I go often, but their food is absolutely god awful and that can’t be ignored when reviewing a restaurant. Brewster’s is good for drinking. Their patio is excellent and always bumpin’ on nice days. Inside is always a good time too. I like sitting at the bar and chatting up the bar tenders. I’ve always had stellar service. There is always a daily special on which is a big draw for me. On Tuesdays its pints of their incredible raspberry home brew. Brewster’s makes their own beers and have a really great selection. The food though, oh the food. Its just straight up bad. I’ve attempted to eat their a great many times, burgers, wings, sandwiches etc. Just all bad bad bad. My friends agree with me so I know its not just me. Their saving grace is their nachos. They happen to be just awesome. Lots of toppings and crispy and delicious. Go to Brewster’s to get drunk and eat nachos! You’ll have a hell of a night!

This place has a great patio with a ton of bright flowers on it all through the summer. The patio is on the west side so if you’re going for sun and heat this definitely a great place. We went for wing Tuesday, but since we ordered waters they said we had to order drinks. I clarified and asked if we could order other food instead of drinks to go with the wings and they said we could you just can’t only order wings. Which makes sense, to avoid cheapos. The wings are always so good, especially the sweet chili ones and the salt and pepper. We also ordered the long beach salad and it was pretty flavorless and left me thinking I could have easily made it myself at home. I do always enjoy 35 cent wings so I will be back in the summer!

When a gf asked to change up our planned coffee to appies at Brewsters, I was game! We met at 7 on Saturday night at the Oliver location and the place had a great vibe to it. The lounge was full and the restaurant only had one table available, but there was space upstairs. There was a private function on the second floor but there was still tables available on the north side of the building. Five stars for our waitress! I was just rocking the water glass and I never went more than 2 minutes with an empty glass. She was always there when we needed her and she was a delight. We ordered two appetizers and they came out pretty fast. The calamari was good — a little spicy, which was a nice flavour. We also had the Brie, with bread and more. It was good — but a little greasy. While I love Brie and bread, the other toppings that came in the skillet were not something I would order again. Overall it was a great spot for connecting with a friend or a casual date with great service and good food.

Just alright. Service was slow, food was mediocre to subpar.(I got chicken strips, which are impossible to mess up, thank god) A few members of my party didn’t finish their meals and my partner’s wrap gave them an upset stomach.

It’s unfortunate that I have to give them 3 stars. To break it down, service was 5 stars and food was 0 stars if it was possible. I’ve heard that they’ve had good food before so maybe tonight was just an off night… We went with a party of 16 and the service was pretty amazing. There was a slight mix up with two orders but aside from that everything came in a timely manner and the servers always made sure our drinks were filled and we had our needs met. They even put everyone on separate bills for us and didn’t add gratuity(super unusual for such a large group)! Honestly I can’t say how great the service was. It is unfortunate that I have to follow it up with how terrible everyone’s food was. It was a general consensus that no one enjoyed what they ordered and everything was mediocre at best if it was even mediocre. Burgers, chicken clubs, perogies, literally every order was unsatisfactory. Maybe they were having an off night but their food was so dissatisfying that I don’t think I’ll ever go back for anything aside from drinks. Sad because they have such a great beer selection!

It was a weekday evening and at 5:30 and the restaurant side(left after you walk through the door) was about half full. The booths aren’t very roomy, so it would be better to sit at the table and chairs if you plan on having dessert! They have daily specials listed on the table and Monday night was a steak sandwich. For Happy Hour, they also offer smaller bites for cheaper. The menu had the usually appies, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and entrees with most items starting at $ 15. Our server bought out our drinks timely and made some recommendations on menu items when asked. I ordered the fish tacos with sriracha mayo at the side and a bowl of the beef barley soup. The food arrived quickly and my plate came with 2 tacos and a square bowl of soup. The soup had a hint of spice to it but glad it wasn’t just vegetables. There wasn’t too much barley in it, but adequate along with the beef. The tacos each had 2 grilled fish pieces and I liked the cilantro topped on each one. I put a little mayo in it so it wouldn’t be too spicy. Very tasty! I would give Brewsters 3.5 stars. The food was good and service decent but prices a dollar or two higher than similar restaurants.

I’ve been here numerous times! While I much prefer the Meadowlark location for it’s booths in the lounge area, this more up to date location is very nice inside. I would normally come here for wing night, service is quick and wings are always hot an fresh. I normally ask for my wings crispy but that never seems to happen. When you’re pumping out thousands of wings doing one batch especially for me is probably quite the task… I wish the servers were better educated on the beers! I usually ask for a recommendation when I see there’s a new seasonal menu, and rarely do I get what I’m hoping for. With craft beers on the rise for the past few years(and more) I’d hope for a bit more enthusiasm from the sellers! My last bit of advice would be to do something about the seriously lacking dessert menu!

Brewster’s offers a decent assortment of their own beer; there’s something for everyone! The only suggestion I would make is to add more vegetarian/vegan options to the menu, as it is mostly meat/omnivore based. The atmosphere of Brewster’s is friendly; kind of like a neighbourhood pub, but on a larger scale

Brewsters does better than a lot of other chain pubs in the city(Brewhouse, O2’s, etc.). Their mango chicken quesadilla is surprisingly delicious. It’s stuffed with artichokes(!) and served with really clean mango salsa and guacamole. I tend to order this with fries when I visit. Brewsters’ beers are delicious too. I’m partial to their fruit beers — these rotate during the summer months) but they offer the raspberry ale(with fresh fruit served in each pint) all year long. Check out their industry night specials on Wednesdays — you can’t beat their drink specials!

This is a brewery that is in my ‘hood so I have frequented the premises many a time. This is a micro brewery, so if you are a beer drinker, then I highly recommend that you visit. There are kegs and bottles available for purchase to take home. There is a very small restaurant section to your left when you walk in the doors. I would suggest reservations if you would like to be seated in the restaurant. Children are allowed on the restaurant side but not in the pub. The Oliver location has two levels. I prefer the view from the top level but it isn’t open unless the pub is busy. There are a couple of cozy fireplaces for the winter months and a great patio for the summer. We usually brave the pub side of things when we go. Tuesday night’s special is wings for 35 cents each and pints of the River City Raspberry. They have a different special going for every day of the week. The beer is fantastic, the wings are wings. Try the Teriyaki Hot wings, they are one of the tastier flavours available. The noise level can be quite loud during hockey games. If you are a hockey fan, this would be a great place for you to go and watch. There are lots of large screens everywhere. On the restaurant side, we have had a couple of really great meals. The Blackened Steak Salad is one of my favourites. The menu is a mixture of appetizers, burgers, salads, pizzas and mains. There is a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. They have brunch available on the weekend from 11 to 2. All in all the food is good. I have been going here for a few years now and as with other pubs, service is inconsistent. We have had really great experiences and we have also had a few that were lacking. More good than bad. The food and the beer are good enough to keep us coming back for more.
