Canada Post

They are currently holding my package hostage after I refused to pay customs fees, kicker? The custom fees were for someone else, in another province, on another package, with completely different contents. Their solution? Call customs, and I can pickup the package «sometime, we don’t know when.»

I always feel kind of guilty when I sit down to write a one-​star review, but with this one I feel no guilt. Yesterday my trip to Canada Post for what should have been a simple package pick-​up turned out to be one of the most terrible customer service interactions I have ever experienced.
When I first arrived there were two people ahead of me, both with what looked like complex transactions. Fine. I fully expected to be in line for a bit longer than usual. However, I did not expect to be left waiting for half an hour while the cashier dealt with her two customers in the most excruciatingly slow manner possible.
I tried my best to keep my cool with this, but as the line grew longer and longer, I couldn’t help but wonder why the 2^nd Canada Post employee on duty didn’t decide to take a break from scanning packages to help ease up on the line. By the time I finally got to the counter, there were a good 15 people lined up behind me and he was still scanning packages.
As I watched the sales associate search for my package and turn up empty handed, I had to really try not to let my rage show. She took a look on the computer and saw that she indeed had been the person to scan the package earlier in the day. Then the worst happened: she told me that the package had been sitting on the counter and had accidentally been re-​mailed out rather than put away in the backroom.
Are you kidding me?! I waited in line for 30 minutes, not due to a long line but due to poor service, and I don’t even get my package?! Unacceptable! Not only that, but I barely got a half-​hearted apology from her. I never seem to have a good time dealing with Canada Post but this experience was something else.
Oh and my package wasn’t redelivered to my apartment today. I’m not looking forward to going back here to retrieve it.
