The hotel recommended Chop, but it is right next to Denny’s. I went anyway and it was great — very up scale inside. I sat at the bar so I would not have to wait for a table. The service was attentive and friendly. My prime rib was perfect.

This is by far the best steakhouse in Edmonton. The food is excellent, and the staff is so pleasant and very attentive, I’ve been there 4 times and each time it seems to get better. I will continue to bring my friends and family!

I was sooooooo pumped to try Chop for the firsy time today. It’s a place I’ve been wanting to check out since I moved to Edmonton 3 years ago. It was sooooooo underwhelming. If it wasn’t for my lovely company I would have rated it downright poor. But we had a good time regardless. FOOD: The food was what I came for. From what I’ve heard THEFOOD at Chop is where it’s at. My food was very very meh. Meh to the point that would pay never again pay that for such a mediocre meal at Chop. So meh that I wouldn’t return just based on the food. Never mind the rest of the paltry experinece. My date and I were both severely disappointed with our plates. We both got steaks which comes with choice of potato and ‘seasonal vegetables’. The ‘seasonal vegetables’ were seriously a half cherry tomato with some green garbage sprinkled on it and fried canned French’s onions. What the? My friend raved about the Wasabi mash. We both ordered it. We both hated it. There was no detectable Wasabi, the potatoes were dry and cold and lumpy. We both asked for a side of butter and even butter couldn’t save potatoes. When did butter ever let potatoes down?! The waitress brought us new batches of potato? Which were equally bad with some strange sour note. We were comped desserts, which is something, but I don’t want a damn dessert. I never order dessert. I ordered a delicious meal. I wish I could comment on the Crab Jar dip that I ordered because it’s crab specials til May ay Chop and there are many delicious crab items on the menu. Well like I said. I wish I could comment, but the waitress never brought it. She didn’t remember the app I ordered off the FEATUREMENU. I assume it’s because she was a brutal waitress from start to finish. We came in at 330 pm on a Monday. It was dead, dead, dead, as you would think on a Monday at 330 pm. We firstly had a hell of a time sitting at a booth in the lounge because they were all disgustingly filthy. Every seat had the lunch rush’s leftovers all over them. We actually sat down at the LEAST disgusting table and still had to ask her to wipe it. And believe me I’m no clean freak. But just ew. And lazy. She then failed bring 2 Items that I straight-up asked her to her face for. My appetizer and then a toothpick after steak. I saw neither. And it was so dead. Just pathetic service. And then she comes all nicey nice asking what our plans are for the night when I’ve got the machine in hand and it’s tip time. I despise that. Read my other reviews for proof The steak was good. Parking is good. It’s close to my house. Other than that, frig that. You know how many GREAT steak places there are in Edmonton? ! Give your head a shake Chop.

One of my all time favourites, Chop is amazing, we have been here 5 times and each better then the last, mgmt and staff are friendly, beautiful atmosphere. The Prime rib is unbelievable, they have some great appetizers as well, good burgers, steak is great. All around one of the best big chains out there.

Great food and great service! Reasonably priced for a nice steak restaurant. Comparable to the Keg. Will go back for sure!

Went here for a client lunch. They have great food. We had 3 different servers and they forgot our starter. However they did bring it out and took it off the bill which was greatly appreciated. The watermelon salad is amazing. Overall this location is great.

I love Chop! I can’t speak for the one on the west side, however the south side location has great food! I have always eaten in the lounge and never seem to find my way into the restaurant, but I have to say the food has never disappointed. The meat is tender and you can cut it with the spoon and all the appetizers are so delicious they could be eaten as main courses. If it’s busy sometimes service slows down but it’s to be expected. If you love delicious food than this is the place for you!

This is the place I like to take my Steak house fans if somebody wants to go for a nice steak. Last time we had the aged smoked steak and it was delicious. The wasabi mashed potato, french fries and the french onion soup(which I chose for the CHOPPED experience) were all what you would expect DELICIOUS. I’ve never tried wasabi mashed potatoes before but man was it good. Great service, ample parking, and clean. If you’re thinking«Hmmm, I’m going to the KEG … stop. And go to Chop» Why 4 stars? In house smoked steaks Great sides Lots of parking Why not 5 stars? Poor selection of Beer

It’s OK. The dining room and décor is much better than the actual food. The food was very standard, so no surprises with what they offered. The food was a bit on the salty side, and they glob on the sauces which were very sweet, and overtook the flavor of the dish.

I love fish. I have to say that one of the very best salmon dinners that i have ever had was here. Served in a bamboo steamer basket, the presentation was fantastic but the taste was even better. Cooked perfectly! Not overcooked like so many places do. Service was very professional as well. I had always heard that this was a very pricey restaurant, but actually checking it out, i thought that the prices were better than a lot of comparable places. Definitely looking forward to my next visit there!

Chop was pretty good… nothing too special about the décor. A bit stuffy with over friendly, bordering on awkward staff. The steak is phenomenal! The sides were not great. If I had to pick I would choose the Keg over Chop.

My girlfriend and I visited on NYE and we both absolutely loved it. Had the scallop and lobster gorgonzola dip as an appetizer, perfect flavoring and no overpowering seafood taste even as someone that doesn’t particularly like seafood. My prime rib and her steak were both perfectly cooked and great quality meats full of flavor. Would definitely recommend opting for the ‘chop experience’, their side dishes are extremely well prepared and compliment the dish well. Overall service was great, server was personable and knew the menu well, for what you’re getting it’s a fairly reasonable price. The restaurant as a whole is an A+.

Some items on the menu are decent. I like it better than Keg. This is an Alberta brand.

Goodness, I’d come here solely for the coconut lime mussels. I do love chop. The food is always good and the staff always friendly. The south side location is definitively a family favourite. We come here frequently to celebrate family birthdays and special occasions! If you are looking for good steak, seafood and wine — chop is where you need to be!

The first time I ever ate here(the one in the west end), I was less than impressed, and it took a long time for my fiancé to convince me to give it another go. I was impressed. The yorkie sliders were delicious and the short ribs were some of the best I’ve ever had(not to mention the huge portion!) The server was attentive, very friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. We did stop in rather early for the dinner crowd, and there was no one in sight when we walked in. the coat check girl wasn’t able to seat us, so we waited a few more minutes fro the hostess to return from… where ever she happened to be. The entry way was also extremely dark. Those issues were minor, though, and I loved the décor in the main dining room. It’s bright and bold, and large windows let in a lot of natural light. I would definitely come back here again.

I have to admit the service was terrible, and out of the three steaks that were served to our table(the gorganzola, prime rib and sirlion) no one liked them, they were overdone and tasteless, waitress didnt seem to care much. For three of us at the end of the meal the tab was up to $ 165. Save your money, go to milestones or moose factory!

This is a chain restaurant which focuses on steak(surprise!). So I ordered fish. :) writing this a couple weeks after being there I have to admit I don’t really recall the food. It was a little pricey, and OK. The reason to visit this restaurant is definitely the atmosphere. My server was quite attentive, friendly, and responsive to requests. Check it out for some fun, but don’t expect out-of-this-world food.
