So I was driving through the Strathearn neighborhood one weekday morning headed to a coffee shop when a sign on the side of the road caught my eye. It read the Cohen Corner Café and I immediately hung a right into the Strathearn strip mall to check this place out. First, let me just say this is probably the tiniest sit down café in the city. If I remember correctly there were about 4 tables? When you walk in you get this uneasy feeling like you are walking into a strangers living room, but that is totally the idea. The walls are lined with used books– all for sale and not in any particular order. I genuinely feel like a place like this is is straight out of a Harry Potter book and could have easily been one of the magical shops in Hogsmeade. It’s cluttered, but an organized cluttered that just adds to the atmosphere. The name of the café comes as a tribute to great Canadian singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen– how great is that?! Based on first impressions this place is great. I actually left without trying any of the food or coffee because at the time the owner, Edin, was out of to-go cups. So I am leaving a star off only because I am not sure how it all tastes and I don’t want to leave a misleading review. Once I stop in again though, I will be sure to update! And I look forward to reading what everyone else has to say about it.
