Delish Custom Cakes & Sweets

I just went here last week and was VERY disappointed. When I went into the store there was NO cupcakes in the display case, There were 3 people working and not one of them even asked me, till I had been standing there for several minutes, if I needed help. I asked to try a cupcake and was rudely told all that was left was red velvet. So I tried that. The lady got the cupcake from the back? The cupcake looked great but as soon as I bit into it, it literally fell to pieces. I mean crumbled all over me, my car, etc. So dry! YUK!

The cupcake craze has mostly gotten old for me, but I got a groupon for Delish and figured I’d stop by and try them out next time I was up at the Italian Centre. They were pretty picked over in terms of flavours when I got there (because this was 2 days before the coupon expired), but I got a nice selection anyways.
The cupcakes here are by far my favourite of anything you can buy in a store. They had just the right amount of sweetness in the icing and the cake is nice and moist. I ate two right away and didn’t even feel terrible afterwards.
They do cakes and some other baking here too, and I’ll be back the next time I’m at the Italian Centre and I need some cupcakes with my prosciutto.

Although not located in the «best» part of town, don’t let it’s location fool you. Their cupcakes are by far, the best I’ve ever tasted! Icing is not sickeningly sweet, but just sweet enough, not to mention bursting with flavor. The cake itself is very moist and «delish.» Would never have gone here if not for a deal I had purchased through groupon. Thank God I did!

Now I can’t comment on the taste because I live in California but I can comment on the customer service! I called several Cupcake places in Edmonton hoping to get a same day delivery to an Aunt who was in the hospital. No one could do it but Delish! They were kind enough to fill my request and get a delish cupcake to my Aunt! Thanks so much!

I have tried many of the cupcake places around the city and Delish is by far the best. We live on the far southside of Edmonton and this is now the only place we go for cupcakes. If you are a rootbeer fan, try the rootbeer float cupcake, it is wonderful!

I went in with trepidation, thinking «Oh God, not another cupcake studio.» Delish was to be part of a city-​wide cupcake evaluation with fellow food bloggers from «Mr. Moo’s Adventures» and «Food, Football, and a Baby.» We sampled the basics: one chocolate and one vanilla and, in comparison to seven other cupcake places from around town, Delish scored highest on the cake, icing and overall «gestalt» components. I entered with skepticism and left very impressed. The cake is moist, has proper «crumb» feel, and isn’t dominated by icing. The icing itself is an authentic balance of creamy and airy and doesn’t have any of the phoney aftertaste that some other places have. I look forward to trying their other flavours. They also make cinnamon buns and, though I didn’t try one, they looked mighty tempting… Big thumbs up for Delish.

This bakery opened up right outside of Little Italy, not far from my house. Popped in one day to check it out, and walked out with a maple cupcake that was, indeed, delish-​ious!
So, I thought it had passed the test enough to order a Black Forest Cake from them for my 2-​year anniversary with my husband. But I was disappointed by it. It was a chocolate cake, with two layers of cherry filling, and whipped cream instead of frosting, topped off with some cherries. This would have been good for a «Cherry Chocolate Cake», and the actual texture of the cake was moist and fluffy — quite good, actually! But I think it was wrongly advertised as a Black Forest Cake.
I was expecting some chocolate frosting or mousse for the filling, with cherry baked into the actual cake layers, chocolate frosting coating, perhaps even some chocolate shavings or curls, and topped with cherries.
Given that it was just a 6″, I think $ 18.50 was a bit much for what I got. The quality of this cake was something I would have been able to make. If I had known they were not going to make it the normal way, I would have made it myself. To top it off, their website is not up to date (website said it was only $ 15, but I was still charged their new price), and I had emailed an entire week ahead to make my order, but received no reply. By 2 days before my anniversary I had to call, only to find out they hadn’t gotten my email at all (sounded like they don’t even check it on a regular basis!).
I’d recommend popping in for their cupcakes or any of the other delightful treats they have available on a daily basis. I also give them a thumbs up for having gluten-​free and vegan options upon request. But I doubt I’ll be ordering a cake from them again.
