Don Day! How did I not know about this place till I used the Unilocal app on my phone to locate a restaurant near by. I am glad I stumbled upon this joint as there aren’t that many Korean places to in Edmonton. I came around 2pm during the week and there some diners finishing up but the place was not packed. I was greeted by a very polite Korean lady who guided us to our table. She came with menus and corn tea quickly. We noticed many lunch specials for $ 10 like bulgogi, and teriyaki beef/chicken. My friend opted the bulgogi which came with noodles and miso soup. I ordered the pork bone soup with rice which hit the spot. The soup was flavorful with a good amount of spice and hotness. The kim chi was savoury and delicious. Wasn’t a big fan of the pickled onions but that didn’t ruined the meal by any means. The K-pop music videos playing on their mounted big screen tv brought good vibes. The Korean posters/ads on the wall brought a bit of nostalgia to the place as well. Their décor is not what will bring you in here but their food makes up for it. My friend was also happy with his bulgogi by the way!

Wow! From the reviews I thought this place would be the greatest Korean food ever! But… No. Not even close. My wife and I go decide to try this place for a date night. We normally go Korean BBQ house in Millwoods. Let’s start with the menu, it looked like a destructive junior high student decided to vandalize them. All the edges were destroyed and almost looked chewed. Sadly these menus were laminated at one point. The food selections were limited from what we are used to. We order… Well let’s face it my wife had the bulgogi and that was such a small portion with basically no meat in it, she looked at me instantly and says are they serious? I ordered the beef Bibimbap in the hot stone bowl. It hasn’t arrived yet but I’m now wondering what will arrive. It shows up in front of me! The bowl is half the size of Korean BBQ House. It’s all rice with a pinch… Literally a pinch of meat. The vegetables were sparse at best. By this time my wife has tried her Bulgogi, what meat she had on her plate was all fat… FAT! She looked so disappointed. By this point I’m feeling horribly guilty. This place was my choice. I decided to venture away from Korean BBQ House. It’s now my turn. My egg was supposed to be sunny side up, not even close. That sucker was rock hard! The Beef Bibimbap had zero flavour to it. News flash… My beef was all fat as well. It’s now time for the bill, $ 40! Whaaaaat? We’re starving still! This place gets one star for the simple fact that a bottle of Cass is $ 4.75 and that was the best part to my whole meal. If your thinking of this HOLE in the wall and I mean HOLE! Consider The Korean BBQ House in Millwoods. The décor may be old but the quality of food is outstanding. The prices are the same but portion sizes are double of this dive plus the food at The Korean BBQ House is edible. My wife and I finished our date night hitting the Wendy’s drivethru. $ 40+$ 27 equals go someplace else!

Food tastes ok! However, given the price, they give you stingy amount of meat. Despite the owner/waitress’ friendly service, I still left feeling ripped off.

Second time trying Don Day Korean Restaurant but I feel that I should be eating here more often. The food is awesome and they have a very relaxed, easy going vibe. There are cool wooden table booths to sit at and K-pop music videos playing in the background. That and I like how the restaurant is tucked away in a random little spot. You gotta know about the good spots, ya dig? — Banchan — you only get two side dishes(eye roll at Edmonton and their weak banchan selection) which was kim chi and seasoned seaweed. The seaweed was so delicious we had to get re-fills three more times. — Spicy seafood soup(#16)($ 34.99) — spicy seafood soup with vegetables and udon noodles. These Korean hot pot dishes are so satisfying. I love how you can just keep on eating and eating but by the end, it looks like you haven’t made even the slightest dent in it. The soup was nicely spiced, the noodles had the right bite and the balance of seafood to vegetables was pretty reasonable. It was a very filling, satisfying and comforting meal. Don Day is definitely a hidden gem. I’m surprised actually that it’s not more popular. I guess there are quite a few Korean restaurants in the same vicinity. Don’t let that deter you, Don Day is a great spot for some authentic Korean eats.

A hole in the wall kind of restaurant but the food is amazing. The bulgogi and the spare ribs are my favorite. Their Kim chi is excellent. Service is excellent. I eat here at least twice a week with my wife.

How come I had no idea this Korean restaurant existed? I’ve been looking for a favorite Korean restaurant to eat at for awhile now. Don Day is located really close to my house! It’s a tiny restaurant tucked in between shops on Parson’s road. When I stepped inside, I could already feel the authenticity of this restaurant. The items on the menu was different from the other Korean restaurants in Edmonton. I like that it was strangely set apart and I was excited to finally try some real Korean food. The Korean waitress was very kind and respectful when she was serving us. She made sure we were always taken care of. She brought us hot tea and waters and always asked us if we wanted more kim chee or seaweeds for our sides. There was always an abundance of food. We ordered the Spicy Korean Rice Cake recommended by the waitress. This was the first time I ever had rice cake flavored this way. We choose the Bulgogi Hot Pot which also comes with 2 bowls of rice. The soup was over-the-top satisfying! I enjoyed the flavors that hit my tongue and there was the right amount of vegetables that came with it. We were wondering if we needed to order more food, because we thought that two orders weren’t enough, but to our pleasant surprise… there was more than enough food for 2 people. The portion of the food they prepared for us was a generous amount and it was fresh tasting too! I had such a delightful and enjoyable meal that I can’t wait to come back to try all the other items on the menu. The price of the food is affordable which gave me a sense of hope that I can really enjoy Korean food here in Edmonton again. It’s been a long time since I felt that excitement about eating Korean food. I’m so glad Don Day is here to my rescue. I was disappointed that I didn’t know about this restaurant sooner and was shocked that it’s been around for over a year. But I’m ok now, because from this point forward, I will be coming here for Korean food with my family and friends.
