Elite Event: Century Grill Yelpsgiving Dinner

What can one say about the Century Grill’s Unilocalsgiving Dinner? The fried chicken was wonderful, the yam chips were out of this world, and the drinks plentiful. The corn on the cob had great flavor; however, a little starchy for my palette. I don’t blame the restaurant, it was the corn’s fault.
Chef Au has outdone himself with this affordable family style chicken dinner. His personality was second to none as he spoke with my wife for almost half an hour about his menu, preparation, and background in order to get to know the real chef.
Thanks Jennie for another wonderful event. We always know we are going to be spoiled by your fabulous events.

Jennie’s pulled off another coup for we Elites, and Allan G and I fully enjoyed ourselves.
We started the evening with a glass of Merlot, worked our way over to the craft table, and got reacquainted with some Unilocalers we’ve met at past events.
I had one of the White Russian thingies (with walnut bitters and some other yummy stuff), and wanted to suck that up with a straw. Like subtly spiced chocolate milk, only better!
While creating masterpieces, we started chatting with Unilocaler Lacey, and made a new friend. We chatted all night. :)
When the food arrived, it was delish, but there could have been more of it. A tangy coleslaw flavored with dill and a few other spices I couldn’t quite peg, biscuits, mini corn on the cobs, crispy yam chips, and fried chicken. The coating was nice and crispy, and super well-​seasoned. As a self-​respecting southerner, I applaud the fried chicken (that’s a compliment, y’all).
The food and company made for another terrific Elite event.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner indeed! This is the kind of Sunday dinner I wish I could have every Sunday, but never have the time to make! Now I know that I can head on over to Century Grill and get the whole delicious nine yards!
The idea of Unilocalsgiving was the perfect event to get everyone in the mood for fall, and the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. The crafts and chalkboards helped us remember what Thanksgiving is all about.
My favourite part of the menu was the chicken itself, so flavourful, crispy and not even close to dry. The yam chips were a close second, and I feel like I could have eaten a million of them if I’d been standing near the food table!
The drinks were especially delicious as well, with the special White Russian being especially warming on a cool, fall day.
I would definitely return to Century Grill for Sunday Chicken Dinner. Thanks Jennie for organizing a great event, and Happy Unilocalsgiving!

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays cuz there are no presents to give out, an abundance of great food and you’re usually with your family. The century grill event was great because we were with our Unilocal family, there was great food from Chef Au, and there was the present of free booze!!!
The lounge at Century Grill has a great bar in the middle with stools as well as cushy arm chairs. There’s also a great figure 8 sofa that can comfortably fit a party of 12. The fire place and booth’s round out the cozy atmosphere that was the perfect setting for Unilocalsgiving.
Pair that with the abundant Merlot and Riesling, Sleeman Original, and original white russian and you can imagine how much fun this event turned out to be! The chicken dinner samples that came out were quite impressive. A nice crunchy skin on the chicken and the biscuits were the highlight of the meal. It was paired with a dill heavy coleslaw, corn on the cob, and deep fried, candied yam chips. I’m not sure how much a regular serving is but it works out to $ 20/​person for a family of 4.
Of course you have to give credit to Jennie M and her Ambassador Kate for decorating the lounge and supplying a ton of crafts for the Unilocalers to make their own thanksgiving place mats. It was a fun activity that got more fun with each white russian.
I was thankful for this event, my fellow Unilocalers (regular and elite), and our wonderful YEG Unilocal team of Jennie and Kate. I can’t wait for November’s Elite event!

This was my first time at Century Grill — as well as my first Unilocal Elite event that I’ve attended. Amazing food — very relaxed atmosphere. I had a modified White Russian Pumpkin Spice shot (it was super caffeinated with Cola); it was delicious! The chicken dinner was amazing; chicken was very moist and my favourite sauce to dunk the chicken in was the Cognac Honey Mustard. What a fun event! Thanks, Jennie!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! New Executive Chef Phan Au pulled out all the stops for his fabulous family style Chicken Dinner now featured on Century Grill’s Sunday Menu!
From the 3 day to prepare brined, steamed, cooled, breaded, and fried free range chicken dinner to the basil butter corn on the cob — it’s definitely a winner!
Sour cream & chive biscuits, slaw, and yam chips which should simply be referred to as crack!
The price point is phenomenal for a casual fine dining experience at $ 80 with enough food to fill the tummy’s of any family of 4!
Special props to the bartending staff on the creative White Russian with Chai syrup and walnut bitters as well as Sleeman’s for their Original, Honey, and Crème ales! We were also spoiled by The Velvet Devil Merlot!
As always, Jennie had spectacular treats in for the Elites and their guests with a giveaway draw for Halloween Howler Tickets and Comedy Fest Tickets! I personally enjoyed the Foamy craft table complete with fall leaves, turkeys, and secret squirrels!
This was definitely a Unilocalsgiving for the books!
