Eye of the Lotus

I hate the thought of writing a poor review for any business as sometimes people have bad days, but I must say, I am less than impressed with the customer service with Eye of the Lotus. But mostly because they couldn’t give me the time of day to even offer me customer service! I called a few days ago and wasn’t able to get in touch with anyone. Then again on Monday and still no answer. And finally I decided to leave a voicemail, because I get it, they are probably super busy! But days later, still no call back. I again continued to call and STILL no answer. So I took my business elsewhere, along with my friend. Super disappointed…

I’ve had 2 pretty significant tattoos done here, one by Natasha and one by Jenny, and I’m thrilled with both.
Both tattoos I had were memorial tattoos in honor of my mum and dad, therefore they were very special to me and I had high standards for the work.
Natahsa was off the chain with the first one I had. I gave her a few ideas of what I was looking for and the piece she eventually created was just outstanding. She knew better than I did when it came to what I wanted. Her work is pristine and 3 years on the tattoo still looks incredible and fresh.
Jenny did my second, a tribute to my dad that was also a cover up. She was very helpful and forthcoming with what I could realistically expect from a cover up. Though the design was not exactly what I was looking for or what I thought I had communicated, it turned out bomb and I love it.
I would have gone 5 stars but as mentioned by someone before, I’ve major issues with contact. I find the phone rings off the hook and email communication is very spotty. Though I did just now call and was answered right away and booked in no problem. So maybe that’s improved over the years I’ve been with them.
I do find the atmosphere a liiiiiiiiittle tattoo-​snobby. It’s common in tat shops and I find it exists a bit too here. Just little sense of too-​cool attitudes from the staff. This does not reflect at all on the customer service or the work, just more of a heads-​up that yes, you may feel a little intimidated by all the «cool» people mingling and mixing in the shop. It’s a thing with tattoo artists and clientele, they can suit themselves, if you wanna feel hipper than hip cause you give or get tattoos, fill yer boots buds! It’s certainly no reason not to visit this top notch shop.

Kyla was great and very friendly throughout the entire process for my forward helix. She had good advice for picking the right jewelry size for my ear, and I appreciated her honest recommendations for aftercare (DIY sea salt rinse or the spray… I bought the spray). It’s been 2 weeks so far and I haven’t had any problems with the piercing (no pain or swelling afterwards!)
The only downside to their location is the limited parking around the shop, but otherwise no complaints!

I highly recommend Eye of The Lotus. Clare is an amazing artist with a quirky and unique style. She’s awesome, highly professional and has been accommodating to all of my ideas or changes to my tattoos. The shop is really comfortable, clean and organized. They also sell some really interesting and beautiful jewelry. Great store with an awesome vibe.

I followed Jenny here from another shop she had been working at before, and she has definitely continued to impress! I have now received three tattoos from Jenny at Eye of the Lotus, and six in total. She is an absolutely fantastic artist, and I can’t even express how happy I am to have found an artist that I jive so well with. I come up with something vague that I kinda like, and Jenny always turns it into a beautiful piece of custom artwork. At this point, I’m never planning on giving her specific instructions, because she seems to understand what I want better than I do! Seriously, give her as much artistic license as you can, and she will amaze you. Or don’t, and she’ll still amaze you. She’s very versatile in her art styles; I personally have had a watercolour tattoo and a pointillism tattoo from her, among others, and she does great work with realism! She is also really personable and entertaining, and the whole experience of being tattooed is a very positive one.
I’ve brought a couple of friends to Jenny for their first tattoos, and they also had a really fantastic experience with her. One of those friends was really pain-​sensitive and difficult to tattoo, but Jenny worked with her and kept her calm, gave her the breaks that she needed, and the tattoo still looked absolutely flawless, even though she had been pretty squirmy!
The shop itself is very clean and well-​kept. While I haven’t seen any of the other staff there for tattoos or piercings, I have met a few of them during my appointments with Jenny, and they are a great crowd to be around. The whole place is a very comfortable, fun environment and they’re very flexible to make your consultation/​appointment work with your schedule. They’ve called a few days in advance of my appointments to confirm them every single time, and pretty much any staff member there can answer any procedural questions you may have. The tools/​ink/​materials they use are very high quality; I can feel the difference from other shops/​artists that I have been to. The pricing is very fair as well, and you definitely get what you pay for.
I would recommend this shop to anyone, especially if you’re going to see Jenny!

Nadia did an amazing job on my leg tattoo! I was looking for a place to get my first tattoo done at and I spent a long time researching before actually choosing someone and beginning the process.
I was very pleased to find Nadia at Eye of the Lotus. I lucked out and she was able to get me in for a consultation right away. We went back and forth on the design plans for my tattoo, and with her input on location, size, colours, and details, I was able to get a stencil that I was absolutely thrilled with! The shop has a nice, open lobby with friendly staff. Whoever was at the front desk always made sure I had been helped, and all my calls and emails were always returned promptly.
My only complaint is that the consultations on my drawing took place right at the front desk beside other customers coming and going. I didn’t feel very comfortable with this setting, as I was just standing there and thought it should have been a private one-​on-​one.
Overall, super happy! My tattoo turned out fabulously! And since it’s for life, that’s the most important thing!

I wanted to get an old tattoo of mine covered up with a new design, and a friend of mine had just got a beautiful piece from Clare at Eye of the Lotus, so I knew that’s where I wanted to check out for mine.
It was a month wait just to get in for a consult, but anyplace that’s any good will probably have a long wait to get in, so I can’t really complain. And after I met Clare and discussed what I wanted, I knew she was the right artist for me!
I was able to get in a week later (thanks to a cancellation in her schedule), and she went right to work.
Its nice to see them set up everything in front of you so there’s no question about the cleanliness and sterility of the needles, etc. And I worked in a hospital for a year, and I don’t think I’ve seen anyone go through more gloves than Clare! She was very conscientious about making sure everything stayed sterile which, in turn, made me more comfortable.
When it came time to start the tattoo, Clare made sure I was happy with the design as she sketched it out, and then she went to work. She was incredibly professional and friendly; she was great at keeping the conversation flowing to distract me from the needles being jammed into my skin.
And I think the final result is stunning. I can’t wait to go back for my next one!

After doing a lot of research, I decided to contact Eye of the Lotus for two new tattoos. I was put in touch with Nadia and after emailing back and forth with her an appointment was set. I found her suggestions for the work I wanted really good and she understood what I was looking for.
The shop is in a great location and a great environment inside. I was thrilled with the great customer service before and during my visit. The shop overall was wonderful and extremely clean, which hasn’t always been my experience in other shops I looked into.
I will definitely be going back for the next tattoo I am looking at getting and have been recommending this shop to all my friends and family.

Very amazing artist here at Eye of the Lotus, Natasha’s art and tattoos are amazing! She has fixed some of my old tattoo’s, and we have finally started on some new projects, which have turned out AMAZING!
Natasha is great at listening and taking my ideas seriously for my tattoo’s, while giving her expert opinion, in fact the more suggestions, the better the tattoo she always says!
Before coming to Eye of the Lotus, I read that the front end of the store was very unprofessional, well maybe that was the case over a year ago, but I have not experienced anything of the sort. This shop is courteous, and respectful and I even received a reminder call of my appointment. This tattoo shop is clean, and professional, you would be crazy to not at least check this place out before getting any work done!

Perhaps they do good work but the customer service via e-​mail is horrible. These folks take their customer base for granted and that sort of marketing attitude will only catch up with them. So, even before I got in the door they wrote off my business. Which is fine, I will spend my money elsewhere

I’ve had 4 tattoos done at Eye of the Lotus and am currently having a fifth being completed over several sessions. Yes, it’s expensive ($ 165/​hr) and it does take a long time to get an appointment. I had to wait four months from my consultation before I could have the work started. But I think that just shows how awesome this place is, as the best artists are generally booked up months in advance. I would happily wait as long I had to because I wouldn’t go anywhere else. You have to pay for quality and a tattoo is something you will have (hopefully) forever, so you want it to be a beautiful piece of art. The staff are amazing and talented and professional. Everything is super clean and organized. Highly recommended.

I was experiencing quite a bit of anxiety towards having my lip pierced, Troy put me right at ease. Almost no pain whatsoever. I cannot stress just how good Troy was!
The décor was pretty cool, and the place was super clean.
All in all, nothing negative to say about this place!

After my delightful tattooing experience last summer, I had to check out the piercing side of things at Eye of the Lotus. I went in the shop yesterday afternoon to speak to one of the piercers, Kendra. After inquiring about the piercing I wanted, she went over the process in detail, and I made an appointment for this afternoon. It’s probably needless to say, but I’m beyond pleased.
Kendra is a consummate professional. Her tableside manner is fantastic, too – I was instantly at ease with her. She opened all the sterilized equipment in front of me as we chatted about the piercing. After examining me, she marked the placement (and had me confirm it with a mirror) and talked me through each step. After a couple of guided breaths and a big poke, her work was done! She listed the brand, metal, and size of my jewelry on my aftercare sheet – something no other professional piercer has done for me – so I can replace any part of it should it ever go astray. At several points post-​piercing, she reminded me that I can always drop in to see her if I have questions or problems.
In sum, Eye of the Lotus earns the highest marks from me yet again!

I’ve been looking to get my second tattoo done for about 4 years now. Moving to Edmonton and away from my first tattoo artist (who is a family member) made me think that I would have to go back east to get my tattoo done. Following some recommendations I started checking out other parlors. Some of them are clean but lack good front desk staff, and others like Eye of the Lotus just amazing all around. They were friendly, set up a time for a consult and showed me around the place.
They’re happy to show you around and happy to explain everything. Although it’s a business I have never gotten such friendly, personal attention from anywhere else. I ended up going with Erin since her style was exactly what I wanted and she gave me the exact tattoo I’ve wanted all these years. When the tattoo took a lot longer to do than we initially estimated she finished up and I’m going for a touch up session in a month or so.
They are worth every single penny and Erin is a fantastic tattoo artist. She made close to 5 hours of work fly by. I’ll definitely be back.

Okay if you are looking for a nice, clean place to get any body piercings or tattoos done then the Eye of the Lotus is the place to go. I was there once before with a friend who wanted to get his eyebrow pierced and they took really good care of him. I decided to get a couple of body piercings and it was pretty close to closing but they were nice enough to take me in. I got two piercings, since it was get one and get the second one half off. The guy did a great job making me feel relaxed and not scared about getting poked. He placed some markers and if I didn’t like the position of where the piercing would go he remarked me. The whole process wasn’t too long and while I was getting pocked he kept asking me if I was doing okay. He kept reassuring me I was going really well for never getting a part of my body pierced, except my ears. I felt super strong and brave!
The guy was pretty nice and very friendly. That was the reason why I decided to go to The Eye of the Lotus in the first place. When my friend got his eyebrow done the guy who was doing his piercings was just so nice and funny; he totally took my friend’s mind off of what was going on. They informed my friend and me (when I got my piercings done) how to clean our piercings.
Like I said the joint was really clean and the staff was really nice and very professional. They made sure they did things the right way and they way you wanted.

This is where I got my first tattoo a few years ago. I’ve had friends go there since.
The shop is nice and clean and well-​organized. They offer both tattooing and piercing. It’s a very busy shop so I’d recommend planning well in advance and booking an appointment.
I particularly like that there aren’t tattoo pictures hanging all over the wall. They encourage custom tattoos. Mine was taken from a photo that I took while on vacation. The artist drew it on while looking at the picture.
I went back for touch-​ups and asked him to fix up one of the stones which was no problem.
Actually my tattoo got infected and I was concerned about it so I went back to the shop and the owner at the time, Anastasia, assessed it and offered helpful advice.
It’s a very professional shop, super clean and the staff are really educated and informative. They offer a lot of interesting jewelery for the piercings they offer.
