I don’t drink much but like a glass of wine with my meal occasionally. I don’t know much about wine so rely on the staff to help me find what I’m looking for, and have tried a number of different liquor stores but never seemed to get what I wanted. So far, every time I have gone to Fine Wines by Liquor Select, I have always left with a bottle of wine that was exactly what I wanted. I’m very pleased with knowledgeable, polite staff, and with the selection of reasonably-priced wines. This is the only place I go now when I want some wine.

Fantastic selection of wine and tons of choices for craft beer. They have tasting events that are a blast as well.

Great little liquor store. They carry a lot of unique wines and the staff are very knowledgeable. They do a lot of free wine and beer tastings which are a lot of fun — sometimes they have a theme, other times they have specific companies in to speak about their wines. Signing up for their emails is a must :) P. S., For parking, you are allowed to park on the north side of the building(right side of the store) — it says Private but it’s because it’s their private lot.

I popped into this fine wine store with the hope I have going into any new wine store in Alberta: that it will have my favourite Ontario wine — Trius Red by Hillebrand Vineyards. They had it — and I got the last bottle! They were in my good books. I asked if they carried my newest Australian favourite Pillar Box Red, a blend of Cab-Shiraz and Merlot. They had it also! They’d just got a box in the back, as someone just bought their whole last shipment. The knowledgeable sales clerk helped me pick another wine I’d never tried before. He recommended a western Australian selection… 2003 May flower Flinder’s Bay Margeret River. It’s supposed to be deep and dark once you let it breathe, and it’s 70% Malbec. I’m looking forward to trying it over the weekend. This store caters to wines not in mass production or mass-marketed. It carries bottles from $ 12 to $ 300, and they also host wine tastings and pairings, wine festival fundraisers and they have an upstairs room for you to host dinners, meetings or parties with wine pairings and tastings. They do work with the former chef of Il Portico, so these custom events bear the mark of high quality and refined palettes. This shop also stocks over 250 import beers for the connoisseur who enjoys sampling new varieties or is loyal to a less available brand.
