Lunch Break Deli & Catering

A little cafeteria style lunch place that only open from 7am-​3pm. There is nothing fancy about the decoration, being in the industrial area of Edmonton, this is not hugely surprising. However the hospitality by the Korean couple that run the place does make up for the lack of décor and if you are one of the familiar faces that come back to this place as if it is a company canteen, the plain and blend style of décor might have had warm up to you to be a cozy and comfort lunch time get away.
Their specialty is Soup & Sandwich; Sandwich is made on the spot with fresh cut bread off a full loaf, soup are home made (not Campbell for sure). I wouldn’t say it is the best sandwich I had, but the home made element (and I can honestly say that it is better than what my own home can make) is something I have not experience anywhere else. Overtime, I have tried and tired of Subway, Mr. Sub, Safeway and even Quiznos, but for some reason, I have a feeling that I can come back to this place a lot and not getting tired. One of the reason is that beside soup and sandwich, they also served traditional Korean food, like Bu-​go-​gi, B-​Bim-​Baab and a few other rice dishes, where the owner share a little bit of their roots through culinary.
My work is 3 minutes away, when I want a lunch break get away, this place is the first place on my mind.

This little deli is located on the city’s east side, just on the edge of the industrial district. It’s a place within walking distance of my old office and I wandered in there one day when I didn’t have my car to drive elsewhere for lunch. Lunch Break was disappointing. It just had your plainest of sandwiches, rather like you’d find in the cooler section of a convenience store. There’s also a small rack of chips and chocolate bars. Needless to say, lunch wasn’t very exciting that day.
Amazing how it’s all relative: you can have a plate of those same fresh sandwiches cut up in cute diagonal quarters on a heaping plate in the center of the boardroom table during a work meeting, and they’ll be the most exciting thing you ever tasted! These guys have a busy time doing catering for all of the offices around, so I don’t think they rely much on walk-​in lunch traffic.
