A review for a fast food restaurant? Well, why not. Sometimes you just don’t have the time and need a quick meal. I had passed by this place countless times but I had never stopped. I was heading out of town where I wouldn’t be able to get food for a while, so I had to stop for something. I just got chicken and fries. It wasn’t great, but decent. In terms of other chicken and fries kind of places, I’d say Popeyes greater than MBFC&T greater than KFC.

We came in here as part of the Mary Brown’s campaign for Special Olympics. The owner’s son greeted us with enthusiasm and was a proud supporter of Special Olympics. We not only got our pictures with them but we had a fantastic chat about how their store got started and how it was doing now and how hard they had worked to become entrenched in the community. Awesome people here — our Big Marys were HUGE and delicious! Come here for one of those or just a quick wrap!

When it comes to «fast food» chicken it seems the options are often divided between KFC and Mary Brown’s; I hope to discover more options down the road but it seems the battle lines are drawn between the two big players. It is unfortunate that the value that one poses over the other is in fact in relation to the other. If we ignore the temptation to compare the two I would still like to give the edge to Mary Brown’s. I found there to be a nice balance in the flavour of their chicken, not overly salty nor greasy. The chicken itself seems to have a nice flavour and the fact it was not dripping in grease made me feel comfortable after eating my supper. I have not tried many of the sides, opting to have my own sides at home since I found their price points a little high. Having that said when I don’t want to cook this is a decent option. Going back to the obvious comparisons I would certainly recommend you give this place a try over KFC, they are not rife with gimmicky menu options and keep things fresh and simple.

Small cramped dining room and service without a smile, but the chicken was so tasty and fresh and I loved that the wedges were crisp and seasoned so well. I had the Big Mary combo with potato wedges(they call them taters) and tasty slaw with a canned soda. There are sauces one can use, but why ruin good chicken? This was all just shy of $ 12, which I thought was little high, but I enjoyed this visit more than I usually enjoy KFC.(Sorry Col.)
