My go to place after hitting the gym or a solo adventure. Really nice staff and good Phở Dac Biet

So good here. My family and I don’t even need to look at the menu anymore, we all know our favourites. Green onion cakes are great, spring rolls and salad rolls too. Mmmm. We have a somewhat loud 2 year old that we avoid taking to restaurants but we can take her here as they are pretty fast at bringing out food and the green onion cakes keep her quiet. They are also super friendly and very accommodating. Only a couple cons; not a fan of the bubble tea (and I love bubble tea) and a baby change table would be awesome in the bathroom :) otherwise keep up the good work guys!

Sadly not impressed. The restaurant looks nice and was clean. I came with a group of 9 people, one of which raved about the place from coming here regularly years ago.
Some of my party went for the ginger beef special, others had vermicelli bowls. One of the group had phở. Overall, it turns out that everyone at the table was not happy with their dish. This wasn’t known all at once but near the end of our meal one person made a comment, then another until we realized that we all were having the same experience no matter the dish. There was nothing to complain about to the kitchen nor anything to send back. It just wasn’t that good. We each had dishes elsewhere just like these but they were much better. The three us that had vermicelli bowls each noted how dry they were even with the full bowl of fish sauce poured on. It was like we poured it on a sponge. Also the flavours of the meat were just passable. I’m looking for something to pop. The meat is should be the highlight. The person who had the phở didn’t even bother finishing it due to the flavourless, yet salty and oily, broth.
I was saddened by the experience as it is so close to work. I guess we will have to go elsewhere on our lunch breaks.

Noodles we soggy and the chicken was most likely frozen and defrosted a few times. Don’t waste your time and money.

So far this is my favorite place for Vietnamese food (not too sure if the dish I like is actually Vietnamese or not, lol). Very clean environment.

I’ve eaten here a couple of times when I’m craving a phở bowl in the northside. It’s a typical quaint Asian atmosphere except with higher ceilings than most hole-​in-​wall restaurants I’ve been to. We decided to try the take out option for a change. Staff are polite & sociable. There’s a sofa at the till so you can wait comfortably for your take out order. I was even offered a cup of tea/​water while I waited. We ordered the Special phở #12, phở with rare beef #13 & chicken phở #19. There’s free wifi in area so you don’t get bored while you wait. I was told to expect a 15 – 20 min wait. It was packed and ready in less than 5 min. Express service! And portions & flavor did not disappoint. Do wish that a slice of lemon/​lime would be included in my bean sprouts & herb bag though. They also packed enough sauce with my order without being asked, so I could flavor my phở to my liking too.

I’ve been in here a few times, the waitress is an owner and so is her husband who’s cooking in the back, the food is great but because it’s just the one owner/​waitress on the floor the service is veery slow. I also got a dirty look after I paid and didn’t click the «Add Tip» option on the debit machine, so. She wanted me to give her even more money?

I always go to this restaurant every once in a while. But I went there again tonight, and the service wasn’t that good. When I was ordering, I asked for bubble tea, but they said they can’t serve bubble tea because they are too busy??? Seriously, if you can’t serve bubble tea, then why have it on the menu?
I was so disappointed of that. It took too long to wait for my food, like 30 minutes to bring out my food. Beware, if your planning to go there on a Friday Night, then a heads up, if it’s too busy, they wont likely serve bubble tea.

Decent priced, good food. Always quick.
They seemed to have changes some things recently, I assume because they are busier, quality seems to have dipped slightly. But still great place for vietnamese in the north east.

Great place for Phở but their Vermicelli bowls are good too. Try the pork salad rolls!

We have been here several times and give it a thumbs up, for sure!
We have ordered several things off the menu and have not had one bad experience in doing so. The food is fresh and tasty.
We HAVE had service that one would consider on the slow side… being seated is one that springs to mind. However, once seated our service has been decent, typical long wait for the bill, but the quality of the food negates that factor to us.
I forget the exact name of it, but there is a curry chicken soup that is pure heaven. We order it every time we go there… the portion is huge, and oh geez… the layers of taste are delicious.
Service is «ok», food is fresh, taste is awesome, portions generous. It gets busy at times which is a good indication of a popular place well worth trying out at least once, which we did… and we keep going back.
EDIT: It has been awhile since we went here but we went back a few nights ago and the food is excellent as per usual, and the service has improved as well. It was much quicker and wow, the dishes came out quick from the kitchen and very hot and fresh. We will be back for sure!

I’ve been to this little strip mall area dozens of times to go to BPs, Michaels and Bulk Barn but just found out that this place existed, because of a tip from a friend. The restaurant is very clean and has a nice bright atmosphere. I’ve now been there twice.
The first time I had #20 which is beef in a satay broth. I’d never had it before and didn’t know what to expect, but I was very impressed. I really liked the peanuts in it. I had no idea what the satay broth was and I didn’t expect tomatoes to be in it, but there were! I think I like it better than regular phở broth, so I’ll be back for that again.
The second time I had #11 which was shrimp and beef in a sour beef broth. I liked it too, but the satay was better.
Service was prompt and they even came by to ask if we were enjoying our meals, which doesn’t usually happen at phở places.

I checked out Noodle 42 with my husband and another phở-​loving friend. She had been a couple of times, and I was feeling like trying a phở place I hadn’t been to.
We went on Saturday at about 6:30pm The restaurant was quite a bit bigger than I expected, and not very busy. The waitress brought us menus and water right away. There was actually tons of stuff on the menu — lots of different rice and noodle dishes — but I only wanted phở so I stuck to that section. They even had a bigger variety of soup than some other places. Regular phở, chicken soup, and some other special soups. I ordered off menu and got beef and meatball phở for $ 7.95.
Our soup came out right away and mine tasted great! I was impressed with the flavour, lack of oiliness and amount of noodles and meat. The meatballs were the best I’ve had in phở so far. High quality.
Maybe they’ve been reading their Unilocal reviews, because while our waitress wasn’t chatty and friendly per se (which I find to be pretty standard in phở joints), the service was fast and our food was great.
I didn’t even know Noodle 42 was there, tucked away in the Clareview shopping area, even though I’m there fairly often. Now that I know, I’ll definitely be back as it’s only a short drive from my place.

My first impression was it looks like an average Phở style restaurant. Magoo and I were seated promptly & drink order was taken, After that service slowed to a glacial crawl, our Green Tea was brought fairly quickly. But was another 7 — 10 minutes before our food order was taken. The first appy’s came out very quickly. We tried the Grilled salad rolls, very good. Then our Green onion cakes came, only problem was they looked a lot like Spring Rolls. Meh, they were in the running for lunch appys. So we ate them, some of the best we ever had. Nice mistake. Oh Magoo’s drink order finally showed up now, Black Jelly on ice. Soon after our meals showed up, Chicken Fried rice & Phở special soup. Awesome, above average Phở fare. We will be back. But not during a busy time like lunch or during super rush, we were there just after 2 pm and there was only 2 other tables. Could you imagine how slow service would be if it was packed? Rating I’m giving is soley based on food quality, service is friendly but SLOW.

I’m not sure what some are complaining about but the quality and quantity of the food are consistently good. Our family eats here regularly and I like the variety of the food and the value. There are also a few combo dinners for the ravenous teens in our family. If I do have a complaint it is the somewhat scrawny spring rolls. On the bright side, the bathrooms are clean, and this was the first place you could buy phở in Clairview area. Considering I can eat a decent bowl of vermicelli with pork and spring rolls for under ten bucks with tax, we will be returning here often! I’m giving it a four rather than a three because it got an unfairly low review.

Had #63 (a combo plate). Very greasy, one item seemed like deep fried rubber. About ¼ into my meal, I bit into the raw tomato, at which point my gag reflex immediately spit it out as it tasted like it had been sitting in the same water as seafood for a few days! The people I was with did not like their #63’s either and ate less than ¼ of their plates. The salad rolls we had for appetizer we dried out and crusty.
and…was ill later that evening and through the next day. :(
We complained to the manager on duty. He provided no discounts nor any apology. They really did not care. Such a shame since we live only blocks away. We will not be back.

I stopped in to this Vietnamese restaurant for lunch and was delighted to find it wasn’t overly busy. It’s spacious and the staff were quick to serve. I’m always a bit nervous eating Vietnamese. Most of the dishes I’ll skip over when it calls for beef, pork or seafood. It all looks like mystery meat to me. I feel safer sticking to plain, old chicken. So I ordered the lemongrass chicken rice noodle soup. It came with green onions and bean sprouts. It was good. Nice and simple, no crab’s claws, squid, prawns or other scary stuff. I’m usually a more adventurous eater, but I fear the food safety standards of a lot of Asian restaurants. My boyfriend works in food safety and has shared a story or two with me. In the back of my mind I am always afraid I am eating a cat or northern Alberta road kill. No wonder there are so many Asian vegetarians.

I was seriously craving some Vietnamese food one night, so I stopped by Noodle 42. It was the first time I was there. A Vietnamese restaurant is a bit of an anomaly in Clareview.
When I got there, the place was completely empty. They were almost closing but still offering takeout. The nice lady gave me a menu. It was hard to decide, since it seemed like there were endless items. I decided on vegetable spring rolls and a pork with vermicelli noodles dish.
While I waited, I sat down at a table. I couldn’t help but stare at the beautiful fish tank that housed dozens of bright orange fish. It was amazing and bit hypnotic watching these fish swim around. I also noticed that this restaurant had some nice décor. I thought the fake plants and flowers gave this place a cozy feel. It seemed very unpretentious and the kind of place I’d enjoy to sit and stay for dinner.
When I got the food home, I was pretty satisfied with the taste. The spring rolls were good, and the pork dish came with few veggies, but tons of noodles and lots of meat. The pork was quite tasty and not greasy at all. I wouldn’t say that it was the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had, but it was quite good.
