Pagolac is a stand by for our Vietnamese cravings. The vermicelli bowls hit the spot and I love that they include Thai basil in their dishes. Yum. Overall the food and service hit the mark.

I should preface this with… the food is great; I’ve been a loyal customer for 7 years now. My orders have been primarily delivery, usually a $ 40 – 50 order every 1 – 2 weeks. For the longest time they offered free delivery, to which I always tipped adequately. In the last month they’ve switched to which charges a $ 5 delivery fee +tip. Increasing order cost(for me) by about 10%, enough to steer me elsewhere or stick to a couple times a year walk-in. Sad to see this change.

Fine Vietnamese-Chinese restaurant. Entering inside the décor is nothing to shake a stick or get excited at but the main focus here is the food. We had a huge family dinner of 20+ people. Many dishes were ordered, great family conversation was had and service was quick and efficient. For my main dish I ordered a Vietnamese Vermicelli with spring roll and grilled beef. It was generous in serving size and just how I find it delicious and noodleriffic! To wash it down was an iced Vietnamese coffee. Lightning strong and creamy and ice cold at the same time. I had to pull out the old trick of handing my credit card on a sneaky trip to the restroom to one of the employees by the cash register. It’s always a fight at the end of who pays the bill in my family so you need to come prepared and talk to the managemenet early. My tactics won and I had a few aunts and uncles scoffing at me but we’re happy we enjoyed a good time together!

Awesome! The location may not be the most obvious, and the«hole in the wall» ambiance could misslead some… But the food is just great. Certainly worthy of everyones chance! Salad rolls quite good!

price and food are both ok. I won’t go to this restaurant until my favorite restaurant is closed or I seriously couldn’t find out what I want to eat for the day. Terrible parking lot.

On of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the city. They have 2 locations and the food is fantastic in both! The south side has a nice atmosphere if you ask me, but the food in either never disappoints! The Phở is great on a cool or rainy day, it will warm your insides and keep you full all day! The staff is always running as the restaurant is usually quite busy, but they are friendly and helpful. Everything I have ever eaten here is wonderful although I must confess that I have not made it through their entire menu yet. Give it a try, it is a great experience.

I don’t think Pagolac was around in the 1960s but this place has all of the trappings of a basement in a by-gone era. The dining room is wood-panel first and foremost and mostly dated. The service is fast and efficient with two ladies and a gentleman running the restaurant during the lunch hour. The menu is typical Vietnamese restaurant fare with phở and specialty soups taking up 30-some odd items. Just about everything hits the spot — the spicy Bun Bo Hue(#32) is a favorite of mine with lai fan noodles, vietnamese sausage, and fatty flank in a lemon-grass and chili oil imbued broth. The Phở Dac Biet is a hearty classic broth and noodle soup with all of the cuts of beef they have in the house. The Saté Beef(#35) is another winner that is peanut-y, spicy, and kind of messy to eat. The only disappointment was the seafood Banh Canh which tasted really plain despite having a healthy portion of seafood — scallops, shrimp, imitation crab, and cuttlefish swimming in the bowl. It is no wonder that a trip to Pagolac is often the first experience of Vietnamese Cuisine for people in Edmonton. The South and Downtown Locations are the standard for great Vietnamese food in Edmonton. Beyond modernizing the dining room, the only thing I would suggest is getting a friend for the solitary fish in the tank in the corner of the restaurant.

Yum, yum, yum and more yum. I came here on a recommendation from a friend and I will most definitely be back. The décor is really great. It’s very warm and cozy and clean. The fish tanks are beautiful. Service was outstanding, very quick and friendly and attentive. I had phở and salad rolls but on my next visit Id be tempted to deviate from my usual order as the menu was huge and delicious sounding. The salad rolls were tasty but had this weird ham in them which was very unappetizing and I picked it out. The phở was hot and yummy, the broth was nice, good firm Noodles and a good cuts of beef. Now the thing that blew my mind… homemade soft serve ice cream in the most unusual and delicious flavours. I took home a container each of avocado and coconut and just wow. Creamy tasty heaven. I’ll definitely become a regular here.

One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the city! And I’ve been coming here since 1997! Best bang for your buck and to think they even raised the prices within the last few years. No matter where I go in the city, I always come back here. This particular location especially. They’re accommodating to food restrictions and the place itself is pretty cozy. I love taking friends here and creeping them out with the strange location, long hall way and dark room. In the end no matter how weird the place is… the food is always stellar, service is fast. And its usually pretty busy for a reason! Quality. Delicion and nutrition! All my friends love this place now!

The food is relatively inexpensive, and really tasty. I suggest #15(salad rolls) and if your adventurous #26(Phở). Always my favorite.

I had dinner with 3 friends and they all had various chow mein dinners and they were all pretty bland. I had the beef satay noodle soup and thought it was pretty good. The service was alright but nothing special. I enjoyed my soup I might try it again and see how some of there other food turns out.

The food here is always consistently good. If you’re in a party and you’re each ordering your own dish, you may want to specify that you’d like them served all at the same time. Otherwise the dishes will come out at staggered intervals and you’ll have to play the awkward waiting for everyone to get their plates while the delicious food smell is wafting around game. Not the most fun thing to do when you’re hungry. The staff isn’t overly friendly, but they aren’t rude either. They are just in the grey area of service. Overall it’s a good place to come and have a bite of Asian food.

This place is great. Always consistent. The food is delicious and the wait staff are fantastic. We always get it to go because it’s always packed full at lunches. The staff know my name and my order. You get exactly what the menu states every time. Closed Mondays.

Friendly service. Staff are always attentive and courteous. Tucked away in an industrial area but dont let that fool you the food is really good. The avacodo shakes are amazing. The spring rolls and the beef with rice noodle satay are very tasty.

I come here pretty often for lunch. It’s best if you come early to get parking because the lot gets full way before the restaurant does. This time when I was there the bathroom was out of soap and the hand sanitizer by the door was out of sanitizer… It was a little unnerving knowing that no one in there had washed their hands properly… But if you can get past that: Their salad rolls are good, but the peanut sauce they come with is even better. I usually get the satay beef noodle soup when I go in. I highly recommend it if you like spicy. It’s the only soup in town that you eat with chopsticks and are full long before the bowl is empty(why do I order the salad rolls and a full sized bowl of soup again?) This place is definitely worth walking down a long dark hallway for, so if you are in the neighbourhood for lunch you should check it out… Maybe just bring your own hand sanitizer.

I went here two weeks ago for lunch on a Monday, it was about 1:30 so not too busy. I had the salad rolls which were fresh & delicious except the roast beef was a little drier than I prefer. My friend order the little garlic shrimp wrapped in wonton, wow! For my main dish I had a chicken, pork seafood vermicelli noodle bowl. It was very good, broth perfect, so large I couldn’t finish & that was just the regular size. My friend had a vermicelli platter which was reportedly delicious. The staff were very friendly. Can’t wait to return to try the frogs legs & ginger beef! One less star for the bathrooms that are in dire need of a renovation.

Great place with an ambiance from the past. The portions are great(usually enough to take some home) and the service is always very good. It can get busy at lunch so best to arrive a bit before noon if you can.

It’s been extremely difficult finding decent Asian restaurants in Edmonton. We tried two dim sum restaurants so far and were quite disappointed. However, my VIetnamese co-worker found this place and said the phở is pretty good. So hey, if he’s saying it’s good then it must be worth a try. Glad I did because the broth of the phở was tasty and the meat was tender. The following night we came here for dinner and ordered the 7 beef course. It was my first time so I was excited to try it out. It was lots of food, eating beef in different ways. I enjoyed it but not sure if I would order it again just because it was tons of food. Their homemade lychee ice cream was not bad either. This is our go-to place for Phở. We tried Lemongrass Grill the previous week and it was not good. I noticed that food prices in Edmonton is double the price in LA. For example, a cashew chicken dish in LA would cost $ 8, but in Alberta it’s $ 16…I guess it’s because of the scarcity of Asian restaurants here?

Those of you who were born in the 70’s and 80’s will feel just at home coming into Pagaloc South. Located in the used hub cap district of the city, the location of Pagolac is very unassuming and just straight up weird. Walking into Pagolac is even weirder because everything is brown and made of planks of wood. You’ll travel down a narrow hallway lined with aquariums and the washrooms. It’s odd that this is what you would see first rather than the host. I guess that’s just the nature of the old building. Upon entering the dining area, you’ll see chairs that were probably from the same hotel as The Shining and fake fish trophies lining the walls. It honestly feels like you’re eating in a wine barrel. It’s quite unique to say the least. To be on the safe side, I ordered the beef noodle soup with sliced beef. The bean sprouts that accompanied it was a little yellow and wasn’t as fresh as other Vietnamese places. The dish came out pretty quick but my friend who ordered a grilled pork and rice came out very very late. We had to ask for an update with the waiter to see where the dish was. To their benefit, this place was extremely busy for a Sunday lunch. Although they had apologized for it, I do not believe there was any compensation. He had also ordered a bowl of rice additionally and this was also forgotten. I think because this was an «authentic» Vietnamese restaurant, I wasn’t really taken back by their lack of attention to detail. For some reason, I always think Asian restaurants pride themselves on quality of food rather than quality of service and have just grown accustomed to it. Back to the food. My beef noodle soup was okay. Nothing to rave about, there was a hint of stale broth and old meat but it wasn’t anything to stop me from eating. Add a dash of Hoisin sauce and lime juice and you should be good to go. Table of four with mostly soups rang in at about $ 56.00. A decent place to get your Vietnamese on in this city.
