I recently received a gift certificate for a pregnancy massage at Peaches & Cream. The place is right in my neighbourhood, and closer than my usual masseur, so I was eager to try it out. The therapy room was nice and relaxing, however, I noticed upon lying on the bed that the sheets smelled of old oil(you know, the smell your olive oil gets when you leave it on the counter? Keep your oil in the fridge folks!)). I trust the sheets were clean, but I have had oil get onto rags and oxidize, and I know that once it gets in the fabric, it is very, very hard to get out. Perhaps others would not have noticed the smell, but my super-sonic pregnancy nose picked up on it right away. The massage therapist asked me about any aches and pains I was experiencing, and I told her that my shoulders and neck were really tight and that my right shoulder, especially, was giving me some trouble. The massage was relaxing, but the therapist didn’t really«dig in» and work out the knots like I was hoping she would. She hardly focused on the areas I mentioned and instead put her attention to my lower back, which she claims is where most women ache(even though I told her I didn’t…yet). I felt as if she shied away from doing a real massage, and instead opted for a very nice back rub. I will say that the whole experience was very relaxing. I have never fallen asleep during a massage before, and I slept through most of this one. Overall, it was not an unpleasant experience, just not what I expect from a massage. I think I’ll go back to my regular masseur in the future.

I had the pleasure of experiencing a hot stone massage at this marvelous beauty parlour. This little spa gem is hidden within Lemarchand Mansion which is a beautiful red brick bulding. The windows of Peaches and Cream spa that face south side of Edmonton, open to a beautiful view of river valley. The spa is modestly decorated and is spotlessly clean, and the service is impecable. I wish I remembered the name of my massage therapist and send her a thank you note. The massage she gave me was heavenly. It lasted one and a half hours, and I am not lying when I say that this has been the most relaxing time of my life. The lady who massaged me had very good hands and administered the right amount of pressure. The massage didn’t feel rushed. I was to impressed by the service I received at Peaches and Cream, that I purchased gift certificates for several of my friends.
