Went on a Thursday night, we were seated quickly, tea and water arrived quickly. Our phó was served within 10 minutes, onion cakes a couple minutes after that. I have tried a few places in Edmonton now, and this place is by far the best.

I ordered a house special phở. The phở broth was very flavourful and not too greasy. There was a good amount of noodles and toppings. Service was minimal. We placed our orders and food was dropped off. We had to walk up to the counter to pay when we were done eating. Four star rating for the food.

Nothing fancy here but I will say well done! Great food doesn’t need to come out of a 5 star restaurant, it needs to come from a kitchen where people care about the quality. My wife and I will definitely be back. Thank you

This north Pasteur is just as good as the one near kingsway. Great phở, good service like it’s twin. The added benefit is that it seems less busy. Lunch on a Friday night had ample room. As always I love the tea here. It’s much more nutty than elsewhere. I think Pasteur has to be my favourite place for phở. Good food, good tea, good service. Everything I look for in a phở place. Nothing else to say. Try it and hopefully it works for you!

The service is ok. Food comes out fast but asking for anything the bill after takes awhile. The noodle to meat ratio could be better. Most phở places have more meet with their noodles.

I previously have been coming here several times a week. But now im boycotting this place bc of the terrible service. I have been a regular of this souphouse since opening. And service has always been just enough to pass. But my last visit was ridiculous. Place was packed. They have recently gotten lots of new staff who just dont know the basics of a restaurant. When asked for simple utensils for my little one I was completly ignored by four of the wait staff. Yes they would rather clear and clean the tables than serve you or provide the necessary tools for a child to eat. This is basic serving ettiquette. Unless theres people standing and waiting to sit down its not the highest priority. But literally all 4 staff were doing this at the same time. And to say okay and agree to get one then turn around and completly ignore the request is so rude. My son didnt get his fork until the rest of our party was finished eating 10 minutes later. Which by then the soup was cold for me. Making our lunch twice as long as it should of been. Yes soup is cheap and fast but lately this place cant handle the lunch hour rush. Making it slow and irritating to eat at. Soup is good but thats about it as the rice dishes are mediocre offer the smallest portions of meat ive ever seen at a vietnamese restaurant. But the lack of side dishes is an inconveinence(offers green onion cakes, spring rolls and salad rolls). The vietnamese coffee is not very good(cheap on the milk). And the fresh juice is watered down with too much ice. Seems like this place is skimping on quality and portion sizes to make more money. So if you order anything besides soup youre pretty much getting ripped off.(Literally people ive eaten with have gotten thier porkchop and said thats it!) If u order it expect to be disappointed. Typically restaurants value their regulars. Not ignore them bc they know they will come back again. Ill be going to the vietnamese joint on yellowhead and 97 street from now on. Sorry soup is not worth the inconveinces and disappointment anymore.

So I am slowly discovering north side restaurants, which I never had a reason to do so previously. I have been to Phở Hoan Pasteur’s original location several times so we decided to check out their new north side spot on a Sunday evening. Random — we called to find out what time they close, lady told us 8:45pm over the phone(random time to close up) and when we get there, we see the sign that says it closes at 10pm. Very odd… oh well, happy it’s open late! I also thought the front of the menu was pretty hilarious, who puts we «review periodically for service quality». Anyways, we were absolutely starving so both of us ordered right away: — #7 phở small($ 8.25) — steak and tripe — #17A phở large($ 10.50) — sweet and sour seafood. This is the first time I’ve ever ordered sweet and sour soup, but the broth was delicious. An actual decent spiceness level to the broth and just made you want to eat more. Couple shrimp, imitation crab and some other meat I’m not sure what they are called. This might be my new go to phở order. Great spot to grab phở, I’ve always been happy with Phở Hoan Pasteur. They are definitely one of the better phở places in the city so it’s a bonus that they have this spot in another part of the city.

One of the Phở’s I’ve had. Beef Satay Phở, was nicely seasoned, not too much tomato paste. Great. Also friendly service, nice restaurant.

Phooooooooooooo-tastic! Had the Satay Beef Phở and the Vermicelli Bowl with Pork, Beef, Chicken and Shrimp! No I wasn’t a total piggy and ate both to myself. I shared with my bf! So tasty, nice satay, just enough kick and soooo yummy! The variety of meats in the vermicelli bowl was hearty and tasty! When you go there remember #16 and #42! For those who aren’t feeling well from the night before’s indulgence or perhaps got the flu bug, you need to have this piping hot bowl of Satay Phở! It will make you all better! Dr. Shawna’s orders! Keep in mind this they do not serve alcohol here if you are wanting a beer to go with it.

This is probably one of the best Phở places in Edmonton bar none. I mean everything is fairly priced, and the phở soup is AMAZING probably the best ever. The service is quick and decent. One of the best lunch spots in town

I’m not a huge expert on Vietnamese cuisine, but this place left an excellent first impression on me. Food was amazing and protein was well cleaned. Best spring rolls I’ve ever had. Very crispy but not greasy. I highly recommend Phở Hoan Pasteur.

There are a floppityjillion phở restaurants on the northside of Edmonton, many of which are pretty damn good. When I noticed that they’d opened one up in my neighbourhood, then, I assumed it had a pretty high bar to compete against. I was wrong. Phở Hoan Pasteur completely knocks the bar out of the park. The restaurant took over the space from San Remo, a delightful little Italian restaurant that added a nice dash of flavour to the otherwise fast-food-dominated Namao centre. When they moved, then, I was very upset. And to have them replaced by yet another phở restaurant was the ironic cherry on the cake. I tried it, however, and was pleased. I usually frequent Phở Song Huong on 97 St and 129 Ave and thought the phở there was fine. Likewise, I’ve tried Doan’s and, despite all the hype, didn’t really find it all that tasty. Phở Hoan Pasteur takes all of the good elements of Doan’s and Phở Song Huong — the clean, classy interior of the former and the tasty soup of the latter — and put it together in a delightful, delicious restaurant that literally sits on my doorstep. We started with spring rolls and onion cakes, both of which were lovely. The spring rolls were crisp, had very little oil, and went extremely well with the fish sauce(and some added hot sauce). The onion cakes were both crisp and tender, and also had very little oil. There’s nothing worse than getting spring rolls or onion cakes still dripping in oil, and it can really affect the taste. We both ordered 42: Bun 5 Mau — a bun bowl with shrimp, chicken, beef, pork, vegetables, and vermicelli noodles. I usually switch between this bun bowl and the soup, because I love them both and can’t bring myself to order the same thing each time. The grilled meat at Phở Hoan Pasteur is just fantastic — tastier, less fatty, and more plentiful than the bun bowls at other Vietnamese restaurants. That, along with the consistently flavourful soup broth, is what keeps me returning to this restaurant time and time again. Phở Hoan Pasteur also gives you a nice portion of fish sauce for the bun bowls; I’ve found that other places tend to give you just shy of enough, often resulting in dry noodles. I like mine semi-soupy, but obviously it’s your preference whether to use all of the sauce or not. I’ve tried different soups at this restaurant a number of times and have never been disappointed. Their prices are very reasonable($ 9.50−11 for a bun bowl and $ 8 – 9 for soup), the service is usually friendly and speedy(unless they’re busy, in which case slower service is understandable), the restaurant is extremely clean and well looked after, and the food is delicious. Everyone has their favourite phở restaurant — that’s a given — but if you’re in my neck of the woods, check out this Namao centre gem. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

This is a casual restaurant with great food and attentive service. Try everything! Being that they do specialize in broths, I recommend the Bun Bo Hue as well as Phở Satay. Appetizers like spring rolls and salad rolls are awesome too. They taste fresh and the vermicelli bowls have generous amounts of vegetables. Best phở in town!

The food was excellent with a good variety. The service was a little slow while we were waiting for our bill, but the low prices put this place over the top. I would definitively come here again.

Just a couple months ago, Ph Hoan Pasteur opened it’s second location in the north side of town, much to the joy of my family. Although we make our own ph at home, once in awhile it’s always nice to go out and get a bowl of the saltier and fattier broth and the more adequately sliced beef of restaurant ph. Even better when it’s within a 5 minute drive from our house! The original location on Kingsway Avenue is actually the family’s favorite, and Edmontonians seem to agree, ranking it as #4 on Urbanspoon’s list of Vietnamese restaurants. Not only so, it would be #1 if you only count restaurants specializing in ph(should have it in it’s name is my policy). I wasn’t able to visit the store until Christmas Eve, when my family decided to have an impromptu lunch together. Not like that’s hard, there’s only three of us, but somehow it’s rare that we all get the same time or day off with nothing else planned. Family first right? My mom was itching to order the green onion cake in addition to our meal, a rarity since she usually says they’re overpriced and we can make it at home from the frozen ones you buy at the supermarket. Something about this dish at this location though, she loved. Being my parents’ third or fourth time here, they were no stranger to the green onion cake. That day, I presume, was less busy than usual, see that it was Christmas Eve and families were mostly likely doing last minute preparations for dinner. The kitchen was by no means relaxed though, as throughout our meal, large stock pots of broth, followed by more stock pots were being transported from the kitchen to vehicles in the front. Large aluminum trays of cuts of beef were prepared, and other dishes followed suit. Definitely in the midst of a catered event with the owner kindly nodding to us as we were seated. Business doesn’t stop for holidays! And rightly so, because with an expensive rent of over $ 15,000 a month, you better be selling lots of ph! As per usual, I ordered ph tai nam, a combination of rare steak and beef brisket. The broth was nice and hot, and there was an overflow of beef on the top. A good portion compared to a lot of other ph restaurants. Rumors have been flying around that this location wasn’t as good as the original. Since opening, my parents have bought bowls to bring home(you cook the noodles at home, and re-heat the broth) and true, it didn’t seem quite the same as Kingsway’s quality, but from what I could tell from this visit, it was just as good. Plus, this time I got to try the green onion cake, which in some way, is more packed with onion flavor than normal. I doubt they make it in-house, so I need to find out where to buy this frozen variety! Definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re a north side resident. With a T&T and a Lucky Market close-by, I have almost eliminated the need to go into Chinatown!
