Rice Bowl Deluxe

After a client of mine from work raved about RBD, I thought we would try it out on our next dine in night. We placed an order over the phone and were told 30 — 35 minutes which is a reasonable amount of time for a Tuesday night and freshly made food. We live a 5 minute drive from the Collingwood location — but my vehicle was in need of service so we could not pick up. An hour goes by and we call to check if the driver was okay and the staff tell us that the food has already left. They also confirm our address which we gave to them again.
It is now 1.5 hours after our order was supposed to ARRIVE. We call back again, They repeat the address to us, but said the driver was unable to find it and had returned to the location… what?!
Finally the driver shows up. She said she went to the townhouse next door but there was no answer. Funny, because the light next door was off and there was no vehicle at the home. We left our lights on, and the address is clearly marked beside our door. So we get $ 5 off our order. She was really nice so it was hard to be upset, but $ 5 off is ridiculous, especially since we ordered extra food for the next day and to already eliminate the delivery fee. Buuuut … THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. The best I’ve ever had for takeout, it was incredibly delicious and fresh. Portion sizes are huge.
It was so good that the following week we thought we would give it a go again. Our food was 27 minutes past the delivery time, no discount, no apology, no explanation. Same driver. I even called the location to which the girl who answered the phone would only say «Im not sure, the food has left.» Sooo basically if you want to eat here, order 2 hours in advance and ask them to repeat the address back to you and give them detailed notes for the driver. Otherwise just pick it up. I will still eat here, but will never order in again. The food is really good, but I’ve experienced way better delivery.

I love pad Thai and this place has an awesome, convenient and well priced pad Thai. I’m vegan so I just get it with Tofu and no egg. Looks great inside and every time I’ve been there, there is always someone going around and cleaning windows, tables, etc. So I really appreciate it’s ckenliness and I like that there is a sink between the bathrooms for people to wash up without having to go into the washroom.

This is our go to place for Tom Yum soup! I love how fresh and well prepared all the dishes are. Especially the beef. At other places you get just a crunchy pieces of something but not a lot of beef. Here you can tell it is real beef. Chicken is also very good. They have great bubble tea too! We always call and pickup. Food is always hot and the rice is delicious.

I LOVE this place for yummy fast food thats not a burger. My favourite is the chicken satay bowl. It comes with a large amount of fried veggies… that I love. and coconut rice. Its so good and quick its also open until 10 which is very good as well.

A great place for take out. The ingredients are fresh and everything is made to order. The menu offers lots of choices and is varied, so much so it can be hard to pick. The prices are reasonable. I have gone many times and have always had a good meal. The Thai curry is good and the Korean Chicken also.

Not bad but I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way for this place. It was pretty empty when my boyfriend and I came in. We shared a tokatsu curry and it was pretty good. There was a nice spice to it but I think it could have benefited from maybe a bit more seasoning to make it more savory. We also shared a passion fruit green tea with boba. The boba were a bit hard in the center and the tea was good but a little too sweet for my taste.
The korean fried chicken wings were a bit oily so I wouldn’t recommend those.

You pay 15 bucks and get a couple small pieces of meat which is mostly fat and gristle. And the rest is all rice or gross noodles. Such a rip off. The idea is fantastic but might as we’ll call the BBQ beef, rice with BBQ beef as side. Cause it’s all rice. Terrible.

Let me start off first by saying I think this restaurant does a lot of things right. It’s sleek and clean inside, the menu is easy to navigate and appealing. I’ve had two dishes there that were both quite good. The coconut rice is phenomenal (according to me– I do not claim to be a coconut rice expert however haha). I would honestly go back just for a bowl of coconut rice it’s so good. Now the big «but». I don’t like restaurants that are inflexible with their ingredients. I’m not crazy about mushrooms and wanted my stir fry without them. I was told the vegetables are prepped in advance and they couldn’t make the dish without them. I hate to sound like a typical «me» generation person, but in this gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, paleo etc age I think it’s important to be as flexible as possible. Other than that I found the breaded chicken to be way too overdone. It was extremely crispy and didn’t really work with all the fresh veggies and delicious rice. All in all, I will likely be back.

I’ve never had a bad meal from this restaurant! It may not be completely authentic, but it’s always made fresh with quality ingredients.
Prices are reasonable and everything I’ve had only leaves me wanting more!
While I literally had to get a bowl of ice cream to eat in-​between bites of my (very spicy) green curry the other night, I just couldn’t get enough of it.
We regularly order take-​out from here and the portion sizes are large enough for left-​overs the next day. Wait time is short (approximately 10 minutes) the staff are friendly, and the food can’t get any better! Rice Bowl Deluxe, you continue to impress :)

We walked in and instantly looked at each other and said «Smells great!» We took our food to go and were very pleasantly surprised when we finally got home and tried it.
The innovative packaging separating the rice from the «bowl» was a very nice surprise (especially as we were doing take-​out), and the selection was great.
After dining here, I can say that it’s a miracle that the dive of Wok Box stays in business in this plaza… Rice Bowl is SO much better and a much greater value! And contrary to other reviewers, I waited a shorter period of time for Rice Bowl than I ever have at Wok Box.
We will be coming here whenever the hankering for rice or noodles hits us – even though it’s about thrice as far to drive as the nearest Wok Box or similar.

Pleasantly surprised… Expectations weren’t much but the food tasted pretty authentic from an Asian street cart. or maybe just plain authentically good :)
