Saigon Taste

I go to Saigon Taste whenever I’m craving a satisfying bowl of hot noodle soup. It’s a nice, convenient spot that always delivers. Next time I’ll have to try the grilled items.

Went at lunch hour on a Wednesday and the service was fast, the food was very plentiful and good and I will go back! Was able to eat and get back to work on time and the menu is similar to places like Doan’s with competitive prices. The restaurant itself is beautiful.
I had the crispy noodle satay dish and even reheating the leftovers was delish!

I was tentative based on previous reviews but was needing a vermicelli bowl. The place was empty as it was 9 at night but the service was extremely prompt. Perhaps other reviews were taken to heart?
The Saigon Bowl was very good. Fresh ingredients.

Sadly, I will have to update my review here for the worse.
After raving about this place for months, myself and another convinced a coworker to check this place out. We arrive there at noon and there is one table (of 3) already eating. I didn’t recognize the staff member working but he didn’t greet us and went to the back. After standing in the entrance for a couple minutes, we seat ourselves. STRIKE ONE. Not a big deal but it definitely foreshadowed what was to come.
There is a couple who enters several minutes after us. The server greets and goes over to them, brings them waters and menus… but continues to ignore us! (He has to walk past our table to go to the kitchen!) We eventually flag him over and ask for menus. He leaves and returns with them… I know this may be a bit nitpicky, but they weren’t folded properly, my menu was opened to page four and upside down when given to me and so were the others that were given to my coworkers. He then turns around to walk away when my coworker stops him and asks if we can order some drinks and our meals because we are on a time crunch. He look’s irritated, but takes our orders. The place is by no means busy.
After about ten minutes I see the server go to the other table and take their order. The reason I noticed this is because that table ended up getting their food before us, even though we all ordered the same thing! (vermicelli rice bowl)
We wait, and wait and wait and wait, 25 minutes pass. We see a man come in by himself, order, and get his food. (STRIKE TWO) … a few minutes later, another man comes in and orders take out, he gets his food right away and leaves too!!! And I don’t mean he called and preordered… he actually came in and ordered it to go and waited while his food was cooked! Unbelievable! We only get 45 minutes for lunch, so not only were we really hungry but getting impatient and annoyed.
Now 30 minutes have gone by, the couple who arrived after us are almost done their meals. We can’t understand what the holdup is. My coworker, asks the server how long it will be for our food. First, he says he is busy taking a payment. She explains to him that it has now been 40 minutes and that we have to cancel the orders and leave. He tells us that he will check in the kitchen to see how long the wait will be.
Well, he returns back and says «I DON’T KNOW».
WHAT???
We were really surprised by his answer. My coworker asks him, «What do you mean you don’t know? It has almost been 45 minutes?» He shrugs and goes back to the kitchen.
Seriously! I have never had worse service. We were so appalled, he didn’t return so we ended up leaving… I was unsure if we should wait until he came back to tell him we were cancelling, but it didn’t seem important enough for him to come back!
I was so embarrassed, having taking my coworkers here. We didn’t have time to stop anywhere else on the way back to lunch, so we all returned hungry.
I don’t think we will EVER be back!
I don’t know if there has been a change in management, but with service like that, a restaurant will fail. Which is a shame because the downtown lunch rush/​business crowd is a money maker.

Been here several times and always had amazing service and great food. They usually give free spring rolls as a starter as well.
Today was a horrible experience, to the point I may never come back. I will be contacting the manager.
Waited 45 minutes for food and still never came. I had to cancel my food prior to getting it as I was very hungry and my lunch break was coming to an end.
I could understand the wait but there was 2 other people there which got there after us and they got there food 20 minutes after waiting.
I had to ask for ice water and even asked about the complimentary spring rolls and the waiter blew us off.

Popped into Saigon Taste for a little nibble after having my nails done at the salon next door. The restaurant is fairly new and I hadn’t even heard of it until that day when my girlfriend suggested it. It is located in the space that used to be occupied by Wild Tangerine and the décor is almost exactly, if not exactly, the same, which is all good with me as I find it quite nice.
We were there in between meal times, at about 3:30pm, so there was nobody else in the restaurant. Therefore I can’t really comment on the service because of course they were attentive and our food came out in a timely manner. Both of the people who attended to our table were pleasant and professional, though.
We ordered spring rolls to start and a wor won ton soup to share. The spring rolls were hot and crunchy and flavourful, not too oily or heavy at all. The soup was packed full of veggies as well as pork, shrimp and the won tons themselves. It was bursting with rich flavours in every bite — it may have been the best won ton soup I’ve ever had! There was plenty for the two of us and we didn’t even quite finish it off.
I like that the prices are comparable to other Vietnamese restaurants in town ($ 11.95 for the soup) but the atmosphere is much nicer and more welcoming than some other places. I noticed signs around saying that they have karaōke on certain nights, too.

Unique atmosphere with an open area in the middle of the restaurant. Service was a little slow, but friend says gummies with the bill make up for it. My meal was overly saucy and not in the good way, but cooked the right amazing. Live music on Fridays is a nice touch.

I was not very impressed.
I was excited to try a new phở joint in my neighbourhood but it definitely will not be my new go to place.
The décor and the service are the two positive factors that earned a 3 star review from me as the food itself was a solid 2 star.
Décor is very nice; clean, modern and welcoming. Great lighting and good music set a pleasant atmosphere. The service is very quick, friendly and attentive.
But…the food. I had steak phở and salad rolls as I always do at Vietnamese places. The salad rolls were ok, nothing special and more boring than many I’ve tried. The waitress brought out the phở fixins which were abysmal. The sprouts were waaaay past their prime, brown and borderline slimy, which I think is totally unacceptable to serve. There was a slice of lemon instead of lime which I found odd and I just avoided the whole plate which I’ve never done before. The add-​ins are my fave part of phở. The soup itself, underwhelming. Broth was kinda wimpy, the beef was sparse and the noodles were mushy. The whole thing didn’t didn’t feel nice in my mouth.
I won’t be back.

I came here looking for Wild Tangerine but was somewhat saddened it was no longer at this location. But my expectations were surpassed!
Feeling a little under the weather I had a serious need for some Phở. My go to food when I need to sweat it out!
We were greeted by a happy, smiling Asian man and I was immediately brought back to my time spent in SE Asia. Cheesy Asian music and high school dance disco lights swirled across the walls… Décor is modern and very clean.
We started with Green Onion Cakes which were the best I’ve ever had! My sweetheart chose the Phở with rare beef, well done beef and beef balls in a beef broth; I had the Phở with well done beef and his daughter had the vermicelli bowl with pork and beef. While I can only speak for my own food their food looked fantastic! The pork (which looked way too good for me not to steal a piece) was exceptional! The Phở was served with bean sprouts, basil and a lemon (wish it had been a lime…) it was piping hot and the broth was a little under seasoned for my taste. I added a heavy spoonful of chilli paste and some soy for salt, I like spicy! The beef was perfect, thinly sliced and not greasy at all. The noodles were perfectly al dente, and after sitting in the hot soup they softened up just right. This is exactly what I needed to battle the sniffles!
Not quite as good as what I ate everyday in Vietnam but, I will be back Phở SURE! Haha!
