This was a nice little sit down café it was clean and modern. The service was alright the waitress didn’t know much about the menu and cuisine and they didn’t have a few item that where on the menu. We got the juices and I could test the sugar in the bottom of the glass this was a little distasteful. All in all I would go again hoping that the little things have improved.

Incredibly tasty Indian food at very reasonable prices. The menu has many options for special diets(vegetarian, gluten free, etc.). The mint lemonade that was on special was amazing. The service is a little slow, so perhaps better for a more relaxed lunch.

Best dosa I’ve had on years. Kids had the cheese dosa adults had the masala. Loved it. The mango lassi was thick and delicious.

This hole in the wall isn’t a place to eat in a hurry, but if you’re looking for a tasty, inexpensive south indian meal or a fresh squeezed juice, you could do worse. I especially enjoyed this airy, sour breadlike thing that came with my fish curry, which was admittedly well flavoured, but overcooked. We also enjoyed Savoy’s dosas, but Aditya R. thinks his homemade dosas are far better. But at $ 6 a dosa, it’s a good deal. Everything is made to order and takes quite a bit of time accordingly. I also have a feeling the new ownership is still ironing out some kinks.

New ownership is terrible. Sat around for an hour after ordering with 6 people in the restaurant. Tables ordering after us were getting served their meals before us and when I asked the server said«I forgot, wait 20 minutes» as they are bringing out another fresh plate of our order to another table. The service is terrible, the food is mediocre and the ambiance is lacking. New management gets a thumbs down.

My daughter and I have been coming here since she was about 5 years old — it’s still one of her favorite places to go out for dinner with me. Love the dosas and lentil soup(and the cilantro chutney is stellar)

Savoy’s Health Café has been around for a long time. You might have driven by this small café many times, or at least glanced at their pink door before grabbing a coffee at Tim Horton’s. If you’re near Southgate around lunch-time, skip the food court offerings and try this gem acros the street! You’re greeted by the cook or his daughter and promptly shown a seat(or seat yourself). It’s a small place, simply furnished with about 8 small tables. It’s not fancy here, folks, but the food is freshly made to order and tastes great. They offer a small menu of South Indian cuisine, mainly dosas and samosas. And a fresh veggie. fruit juice menu. Next time I must try the orange & beet juice, as it was highly recommended by several friends. While sipping tasty masala chai, I checked out the menu and prices. Everything is below $ 10. The most expensive item is $ 7.49 for a combo meal. Crazy inexpensive! Almost everything is vegetarian, with the exception of a beef dosa option. For $ 6, you can choose a veggie or potato dosa, comes with chutney and a small cup of lentil soup. If you’re with a friend, share a plate of 4 crispy & delicious samosa($ 6) along with choosing your own dosa meal. Serving sizes are very reasonable, don’t expect tons of food on your plate. The portions are good though. i always leave with a satisfied(not stuffed) tummy. P. S. The coconut chutney is yummy! I think they only accept cash. A jewel of a place in a non-descript strip mall.

Sweet family run business. I’ve been coming here for a few years and it has always been great. The chutney is to die for. I usually get the pita pie with lentil soup and both are delicious. It’s a place that you might walk by at first but it is definitely worth a stop.

The Savoy Health Café is across 51st from Southgate Mall in the same shopping centre as Bernard Callebaut and the Timmies. It looks like a nothing special hole-in-the wall that you would need someone to reccommend to you before you’d ever go it. Well this is your recommendation — GO! This is the best lentil soup ever. A great place to go for lunch. Soup, samosas and chai for under $ 10. I could eat here every day. I’m still trying to reverse engineer the soup recipe. So far no luck, but even if I do, I’ll keep coming back for the samosas. Warning — he doesn’t accept debit or credit cards so bring cash(or stop off at the bank machine next door).
