Shaw cable SUCKS they are the worst

Shaw charges way too much for the shitty service they provide. Their wifi services turn to shit once it starts raining and their customer services/​support is next to useless in these types of situations. They’re rude and obnoxious and can’t give two shits about their customers. Planning on making the jump to Telus

Antagonized beyond belief with Shaw Cable. The owners of this multi-​million dollar company do not care — repeat — do not care about their customers. Only about getting their monthly money. I am a 22-​year + continuous customer of Shaw Cable, even going back to the Videotron days. Many times I have been late with a cable payment but I have always paid the bill in full, with interest, the following month and NEVER complained about it. Until NOW. Because what they do now is, without warning, disconnect your cable from their end — whenever they feel like it. You will not get a phone message (you may get an auto-​dial robot call but no message is ever left, so it could be a solicitation call from extra TV packages from them so… who would pick up the receiver?), you will not get an email, you will not get a letter either. They will just cut it off. My cable/​internet bill is about $ 2000/​year give or take, I have been a customer 22 years+ as I stayed and I think I am «DONE» with Shaw Cable. If they cut me off once again without warning, I have told them I will sign up with Bell or Telus. The Shaw «showmi» package service is beyond lame and the Shaw telephone has never, ever worked; we had it in our business for 6 terrible months and had to go back to Telus. I say, just try anyone else; Jim Shaw is a multi-​millionaire and he made his money by being in a former monopoly and delivering poor service at high prices because there was no other alternatives. Now there is. Watch the Shaw stock prices drop AGAIN as more people like myself wake up from this abusive telecommunications bully and just leave their rigged game.

Prices are just way too high! Their bundles are set up so you can not add one channel !
Also they don’t seem to care we are in a recession !!

Honestly not sure it deserves even a star.
The overall product is okay. But constantly increasing prices while providing less choice than competitors such as Telus (and even worse value if you start to compare to Netflix).
But what sets Shaw apart as being truly awful is the customer service. On my most recent call the customer service representative transferred me to another agent because «her shift was ending».
Yes. That was her reason. So I had to wait on hold another 15 minutes for the next agent.
He seemed perhaps a bit more helpful but I’m not sure he cared.

Agreed with many of the other comments regarding service and equipment issues. I’ve been with Shaw a couple times now and only ever experienced problems. Cable cuts out all the time and I’m getting really tired of being asked if I reset my box… again! Really shaw? Once a week, at least? Could you maybe just give me equipment that works? Then, once they finally sent a service guy out (which took forever, much like the installation) he told me it was because I live in an apartment building.
Well, I can tell you this:
1. It’s not because I’m in an apartment, because I’ve never had this issue before.
2. Your prices are not even cheaper anymore (but horrendous actually), only positive being you don’t have to sign a contract. (Thank god!)
3. Your cable was horrible, your internet was horrible and I paid my services in FULL every month (you never offered me any kind of compensation or solution ever). So really I was paying for a service I wasn’t receiving.
4. You never even cared. I called to cancel and you spent 20 annoying minutes trying to talk me into staying, but you never cared while you had me! Once I cancelled, you forced me to stay an extra 30 days. Why I have to give you/​them 30 DAYS notice (and not a minute less), is beyond me. Are you in it for your customers too, or just money? Because I believe it’s become pretty obvious.
5. Once I gave you that 30 days notice (and I am still paying in FULL!), you cut half my channels, and when I called you told me to reset my box again. This is unreal!
Back to Telus, and NEVER Shaw again. Your «service» is far from good!

This isn’t really a review of Shaw Cable services or their products.
I was at the Shaw Cable building on the west end the other day, to be in the studio audience for a local cable series on Shaw TV. I would have never thought the first time I see a live tv show it would be in Edmonton. Anyway it was for a psychic show, and for an hour of entertainment (or more depending on your thoughts about psychics all that). I thought it was a fun way to spend an evening. I even got to go up and ask a question. The girl who checked us in and had us sign the release forms was very nice. One thing I will say is the chairs in the front waiting area are quite uncomfortable, but they do have free wifi (for Shaw customers that is).

I have never had trouble with a Shaw representative. The new programs they are rolling out for existing customers is awesome. They offered us a $ 150 credit and free services for 6 months. We have been with them for years now and it is great to see a company that is starting to take care of existing customers and not just trying to lure new ones.

Shaw has the worst bloody customer service. I am currently on hold — 75 bloody minutes later — as my email keeps duplicating over and over and over. This has been an ongoing problem for 6 or 8 weeks. I have to clean out thousands and thousands of duplicate emails over and over. I can’t even begin to describe what the past 6 — 8 weeks dealing with these a$$hats has been like. Tomorrow I am moving to Telus (wish we had Rogers here). Absolutely HATE shaw. I have been a loyal customeer for more than 15 years but that stops tomorrow.

Cheaper isn’t always better.
I’ve went with Shaw as my internet and digital TV provider in the past hence why I was going to go with them again when I moved into my new place. A few unfortunate turn of events changed my mind.
Although, Shaw is cheaper than Telus, Bell and all the other providers out there, it definitely isn’t the best.
I booked an appointment to get cable, etc installed with the expectation that my cable would be installed within a week or two. I was dreaming. I had to wait nearly a month for them to install.
They were supposed to install on the 24^th of October, and didn’t show up at all to make the installations. The technician didn’t even call to reschedule or anything. So my roommate had no other choice but to call Shaw to complain and reschedule.
To my surprise Shaw did not apologize for the error they made and proceeded to reschedule the appointment for three weeks following the original appointment. To me, that is an unacceptable way to deal with any legitimately frustrated, valuable customer especially when they made the mistake. In turn, I called Shaw– waited on the line for about 30 minutes, was an hour after everything was said and done – to let them know that this type of customer service is unacceptable and that they need to push up the installation date because it was their error not ours.
The representative said they would try to get our installation prioritized, BUT, no guarantees.
Four days later, some rude technician comes to our place to install our cable, however, he could not make the install because he did not have the proper equipment to do the installation. What kind of cable technician comes to a house to install without the equipment to get the job done? Talk about inefficient. I’m not sure why this technician still works for Shaw. His interpersonal skills were the pits and he expressed his dislike for the job.
In consequence, I had to waste another 45 minutes of my time and call Shaw again to express my dismay and to get to the root of the problem. Again, no apologies were made. Regardless, I continued on and rescheduled the appointment. Finally, three days later the same rude technician showed up to install our cable. He brought the equipment this time, but another issue came about. He explained that he couldn’t install cable in our suite for some other reason. I’m not sure how this technician even has a job with Shaw. Surely he could have figured out he couldn’t do the installation during his first failed visit.
Anyways, my roommate and I waited over a month to get our cable and internet installed for it to not get done at all. I called Shaw and complained about their piss poor customer service and incompetent, rude technician. Again, they did not apologize or find a way to reconcile and regain us as customers. I told them I was going to go with another more reliable, customer focused provider. They did not object.
I spent nearly three hours of my time that I will never get back, sadly.
On the bright side, Telus communications was our saviour. I called Telus that same day I cancelled with Shaw and was able to get an appointment to install for a few days later. Sure it was a bit more expensive, but with my pro negotiating skills and their customer loyalty policies, I was able to drastically knock the price of digital cable and PVR down.
Shaw’s special deal was $ 30, but they fail to mention the excessively long wait to get installations, the many problems you may run into along the way, the time you waste on the phone with representatives to get nothing accomplished, the inefficient system they have, and the poor customer service.
I pay $ 55/​month for PVR, VOD and a couple hundred channels with Telus… definitely worth the extra $ 25.
Shaw may be at the top of the chain for now, but with their incompetence, their reign won’t last.

I was a big fan of Shaw high speed internet until a few weeks ago when I noticed the speed was way down. My bill showed I was paying $ 52/​mo. for high speed when high speed extreme is only $ 47/​mo and high speed should be $ 37/​mo. They changed their pricing without telling me and now charge by amount of usage on whatever plan you started out at. Good customer service would advise me that my current plan at my current level of usage is more expensive than the next plan up. Instead they sent me a very brief letter thanking me for being on some inexplicable pilot and that my data has been refreshed. I have no idea what that means. Then they have a service level/​included usage table but there is nothing in the letter to tell me what my usage is to compare, or what plan I am on now, or that I will need to upgrade to a different level because my speed will go down and I will pay more until I upgrade to a higher level.
It is very difficult to get in touch with them. Their online chat never picks up; you just wait and wait. Email response is 3 business days and the phone is only available during hours when I am at work. Extremely poor customer service and I can’t get ahold of them to tell them that.

I like Shaw for the most part but their cable internet is faulty sometimes.
There have been many mornings where I wake up and the internet is going ridiculously slow or not working at all. Usually the problem is fixed by resetting the modem but it’s such an inconvenience and annoying as anything. Other than that the service is pretty good and when it’s not slow which is rare, it is pretty fast and reliable.
I don’t like the speed bumps though.
