I tried this place once for takeout and the food was okay nothing spectacular. It’s a standard Indian restaurant with a typical menu. The front counter where you pay was a small area and there wasn’t much space to lineup.

I’ve been here couple of times, and I’ve have to say this place is pretty good for tandoori chicken. In fact I love their tandoori chicken. It’s a great hidden spot for Indian food in Edmonton many people don’t know about. The service is average, and there’s always pleasant old school Indian music playing which reminds me of India every time I visit there, and no I’m not talking about ‘90s music. They play some ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. You wouldn’t have to wait for too long for your food because it’s not too busy most of the time. Definitely worth a try.

I checked out this place as it was close to home… I’ve had my fair share of Indian food and to me the food here was mediocre. Service was ok.

The food is simply awesome. This is amongst the best Indian cuisine restaurant in Edmonton. Although it is more suited as a take-out, the dine-in isn’t a let down. But, you wouldn’t want to go here for any anniversary celebrations or a date. Do try the papdi chaat and the chilly chicken. The taste is mind blowing. Their roti are crisp and the naans are soft and melt easily in the mouth.

My wife and I waited with anticipation for this place to open. The sign was up for a long time before it was open and we were very eager for this place to open. Why? Simply because there are not a lot of options in the area. Once it did open we were so pleased with the quality of the food. There was a freshness to everything and you could really taste all the flavours in each dish. The service is friendly and the staff is always helpful. We have since moved out of the area but we will continue to visit the Tandoor.

I never even knew The Tandoor existed until I went with the fam to check out this indo-chinese restaurant. I’ve probably passed it a thousand times going to the South soccer centre and never noticed this little delicious Indian hole in the wall. Upon walking in, we were met with the voice of Canada’s greatest singer — Celine Dion. Weird for an Indian restaurant but they make up for it with the Indian soap op’s on the TV’s? Perhaps. Décor is nothing to write home about but that’s fine with me. On to the food which I was pleasantly surprised about. We shared three dishes: — Lamb n jalfraize($ 14) — lamb cooked with onion, green/red peppers, onion and slightly spicy gravy. Maybe they make it spicier(which would be good) but my parents can’t tolerate much heat so they asked for mild. Good dish but we always order lamb dishes. — Mango chicken($ 14) — chicken in a tangy mango sauce. Didn’t find the mango sauce to have enough tanginess to it. Could have used more mango but still tasty. — Aloo & palak($ 11) — aloo cooked in a purée of spinach and fenugreek. This dish was my favourite. Spinach purée was light but had that perfect purée texture to it when you ate it. YUM. — Side of tandoori roti($ 2) — not what I was expecting. Taste reminded me of pita bread but more bit and thickness to it. Not the roti I was expecting to have which I’ve had in Malaysia. Stick with the naan bread. All our entrees came with choice of naan bread or rice so we ordered two naan’s and one rice. Naan bread were great — fluffy, hot with a nice bit of crunch to it. Prices are very, very reasonable and I like how they include rice/naan with your entrees unlike other Indian restaurants in the city. Definitely will be coming back to try their prix fixe menu($ 16 per person). Note — their buffets are only during lunch and I guess weekends. Now, whose brave enough to try their chinese menu(the other half of the menu!)

I tried this place with a Groupon purchase back when they first opened and every time we go out for Indian food we always go here(and almost always for buffet). The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious! The service is great and they always ask if you want a new plate of naan bread before you’re almost done. The restaurant décor is nothing fancy, in fact, kind of dated and definitely a jeans and Tshirt kind of place but that doesn’t bother me since the food itself is so good!

Just sitting at a new location(roper rd &75 st) after eating the buffet dinner. Tasty, well-made, good selection, medium spice, attentive wait staff, all at a reasonable price($ 13 pp). I’ll be back.

I’ve only had Indian cuisine a handful of times so I wouldn’t know how authentic it tastes. However The Tandoor has a lot of delicious options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. I tried the Mutter Paneer with naan bread and the Butter Chicken with naan bread as well, both were good in my opinion, and you get a good amount of the naan bread served with it! Also ordered a warm mango lassi which was delicious :) I would probably recommend this to people who haven’t had a lot of Indian Cuisine but want to try.
