History

Established in 1971.

The company was founded in 1971 under the name Mentor Dynamics. The primary focus was related to structural steel fabrications. In 1989, the company was sold to new owners and incorporated under the name Mentor Dynequip Inc, however kept Mentor Dynamics as the operating name. At the time, the company was focused on designing and manufacturing small to mid-​sized overhead & gantry cranes. Mentor was also a distributor for hoist and specialty crane manufacturers.

In 1998, the company was purchased by Paul Whittaker, P.Eng. It operated as Mentor Dynamics, with the corporate name registered as Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment Inc.

In January, 2008, Mentor Dynamics moved to its own property and building in Elmira, ON. Coinciding with the move, the company officially changed its name from Mentor Dynamics to Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment Inc. to better communicate its prime focus.

In 2015, ELS opened a 2^nd manufacturing plant dedicated to the production of the Destuff-​IT.
