I regularly travel to Halifax and book Avis. This time I tried Alamo. Saved about $ 100 on 8 day rental. Car was clean and worked as it should. Alamo personnel were gracious and friendly. What more could you ask for?

I got in late after flight delays and despite my pleas from Toronto by phone, the Dollar rep (with whose company I had prearranged a rental) was gone, as were all the other Car rental agents at Halifax airport at 145am. Except the Alamo rep, who was cheerfully helping another traveler. She quickly fixed me up with a car, and a great car it was. No compacts left, I was given the keys to a Volvo XC 60 for the same price. This was a very comfortable ride for my two weeks in Cape Breton. When I returned it, I had my bill in hand before I even got my bag out of the back. The Alamo rep grabbed a baggage cart for me and directed me to the terminal. Doesn’t get any better than that.

This was an excellent car rental experience. I rent cars often. It is not always thus. The service was quick, knowledgeable and human-​friendly. The agent walked me over to my car. There was no berating me for renting the cheapest vehicle category or refusing the empty tank return. No trying to get me to upgrade for only $$$ per day. She actually enjoyed talking with us.
The vehicle was well-​equipped; a sunroof is always so nice. Bluetooth too. The often-​neglected wipers were in new condition.
After a great five days of driving, the return was equally quick, gracious and respectful. No tricks on the bill.
