Thorncrest Ford

I purchased my first car at Thorncrest after visiting various other show rooms within the GTA, Oakville and Caledon. The staff at Thorncrest far exceeded my other experiences. They were calm, happy to help without being pushy, non judgmental, and took the time with me to sort out my possibilities. It was a great experience.

My car (a 2013 Ford with 50K on it – relatively new) completely died and I had roadside service tow it to Thorncrest. It was only looked at two days later, despite having had an appointment first thing the next morning, and I was told absolutely nothing was wrong and that the car was fine to drive.
Within 15 minutes of leaving the dealership, the car completely died while I was driving, in the middle lane on lakeshore (downtown Toronto), completely stranded. Ford roadside left me waiting, on lakeshore, for almost 3 hours — in the freezing cold.
When I had it towed to a different dealership, Thorncrest told me they couldn’t do anything to help me. The service manager assured me that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the car when I took it off the lot, despite it being the exact (albeit dangerous) problem I had taken it in for.
I have lost all reliability in my car, ford, and especially Thorncrest. DO NOT HAVE YOUR CAR SERVICED HERE.

I’ve been here a number of times for service over the years because there is no Ford dealership in the city. Fairly inconvenient, but that’s OK.
I was getting winter tires put on and said I would wait for them (was told there would be a 1.5hr wait).
After 1.5hrs, I was told they were still working on them, but would be done shortly.
They were done after a lunch break and finally completed in 5hrs instead of 1.5. There was not an additional 4 hours of work put into the car, it was a mismanagement of time.
I was told that they had to switch a tire pressure valve to stop tires from leaking, which is why it took longer, but that’s not reasonable. I was annoyed because if they had better time management, I could have left my car with them from the get-​go instead of trying to wait.
I came to pick up my car the next day (they offer a free shuttle from Kipling!) but it was 40 minutes later than they had said it would be since the drivers were on lunch.
Wasted about 5 hours of my time just bringing my car here.
Next time, I’ll trust the Midas touch, I guess.

My wife and I have purchased 3 vehicles from Thorncrest over the past few years. We worked out our deals with Warren, and he was extremely good to work with. Not pushy, knowledgeable & understanding, we’re loyal customers for sure.
Services have never been a problem — since when I purchased my vehicles they came with booklets full of coupons. There’s a convenient shuttle in case the service is longer than I can wait.

I am personally SHOCKED at reading the reviews about this place as my family has been buying cars here for over a decade now and never had any problems with them what so ever.
I am going to flat out say that I am not a big fan of shopping for cars, I have some knowledge of them, almost my whole family is involved with cars in one way or another so I naturally picked up some knowledge on the topic but I HATE shopping for them. Even though I am an avid shopper I never enjoy the experience of shopping or even looking at cars there is just something about the whole thing that gets under my skin. But I recently had to go out looking and was less then thrilled with what I encountered until I accidently wound up here at Thorncrest. I had come from a VW dealership down the street and after being «told» not only what I wanted but that VW was the only way to go because everything else was apparantly crap I ended up browsing here and was more then pleasantly suprised.
I had been all over, Suburu, Mitsubishi, VW, Hyandai… and more with all being very similar in sliminess. The staff here did not swarm like vultures at the scent of rotting flesh… but they did not ignore you either. Getting the information I wanted without being pushed to go bigger or more expensive was easy here, the sales rep I dealt with his name was Jimmy, had 27 yrs with the company and I believe at that location. He was friendly, not slimey… informative without being manipulative and he gave hands down some of the very best deals I have ever heard of.
Test driving was simple, done on the spot without waiting to photocopy your ID and then have some sales man pitch the car while your trying to get a feel for it. No, the test drive was relaxed and fun, not going to go into the cars as thats not what I’m reviewing but I was able to drive without the distraction of sales lines and vehicle specs.
I have not experienced their maintenance or service department which seems to be the largest complaint here, however I will say that anyone who was there having their car serviced at the time i was there were all more then happy.
Overall I would have to say this is a great dealer if your looking at Ford products and I personally would recommend Jimmy for sales

I’ve had pathetic repair service experience there in the past and a crappy buying experience.
They suck and I would never buy or go there for repairs again.

I came here twice for service and both times my completion time was late by over an hour. I can’t really speak for the sales department, but the service department is really slow and they overbook themselves with warranty work so be prepared to wait.
