Mokus Restaurant of Fonthill

I am now a regular at Mokus. The family and I love that spot!!! You can search from the GTA to the falls, you won’t find better Hawaiian food anywhere! They have the best poke bowl!!! The take out menu and the prices can’t be beat! Love the service, friendly and great with my young kids!
If you have been to Hawaii and are hoping for a menu that will bring you back, Mokus is the place!

We’ve eaten here twice (since our first visit they were a new establishment we wanted to give them a year to work out the kinks). They have not. The food suffers weirdly from either blandness, being overcooked or undercooked– depending on the dish, and not a very good value for what you get. The service both times was dreadful, and again they weirdly manage to do an over/​under. Slow service yet overly solicitous manager who lingered at our table wanting to chit chat about Fonthill, other local businesses, etc etc. We certainly appreciate a pleasant greeting but we hired a babysitter to have an evening with each other, not with a third party who forced her convo on us. We also do not appreciate the argumentative nature of the owners. They do not understand «the customer is always right» mentality that produces good service in the hospitality industry. Quite the contrary they argue with any complaints, get defensive and they to blame their patrons if they receive complaints rather than taking ownership for mistakes, and insist their comment cards give nothing but praise. When we did complain we were offered no restitution whatsoever. The hallmark of a bad restaurant. We’d advise anyone on the fence to go anywhere else in Fonthill. Zest and San Marcos are both excellent both in terms of food, and exemplary service/​management.

First time I have tried this restaurant. It was pretty much spot on from their pork platter to the beef stew. Just remember it’s not smoked pork, its baked. Atmosphere and décor were pleasing to say the least and the service was great. Only complaint would be the appetizer potions were small for the price and flavours a tad Americanized. Definately returning

Delicious! I lived in Hawaii for four years and this food could hold up there. Delicious! Adorable interior décor and great service! I’d eat there again!

Truly one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. Starter was tempura vegetables. The batter was 1 cm thick and still soggy on the inside around a 10 cm diameter piece of cauliflower. The main was pulled pork poutine. The pork was wet and totally flavourless. Demi glaze packet gravy and frozen French fries. We sent back both main courses. The servers reaction was one of routine. It’s obviously not the first time this has happened. Such a shame because of the setting and location. I will be very vocal to friends family and work colleagues not to chance it. (I do not want to give it any stars but the app won’t let me continue without.)

Check out this gorgeous restaurant in Fonthill. It makes you feel like your in Hawaii. My husband and I had great won ton soup with a cocktail out on the patio Next to the Hawaiian lanterns with amazing Hawaiian music. Let’s go people support your local business. You cannot sit outside in the winter… What r u waiting 4. Try it.

Crazy cool spot. Really cool story on this place.
We ordered the rice and Ahi Tuna and the curry chicken salad. Fantastic food. Amazingly cool attitude on the server. Fantastic décor. We went in the winter and it felt like we were on vacation for 1.5 hours. Really well thought out from décor to menu. Well done.

The atmosphere and vibe will make you think you are dining on an island in the South Pacific. Dishes are inventive and culturally accurate, with a wide variety of indigenous and North American dishes for those with a less adventurous palate. Wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. And definitely the funnest cocktail menu you’ll ever see.
Definitely a new local favourite!

Funky menu selections and tastes too. Innovative, colourful design with lots of ambiance. My first visit is well worth a repeat.
Kudos to the seasoned chef for adding a great twist to the local fare.
