A solid pub in a quaint little town. My boyfriends parents have a place in Gibsons and we usually stop by Molly’s Reach for a drink and some grub. This time I had their cod fish and chips and it was pretty good. My boyfriend got the Persephone burger and it was delicious. It had bacon, mushrooms, garlic mayo and this awesome ooey gooey cheese. It was one of the better burgers I’ve had in a while. Definitely come check this place out if you visit Gibsons. Everything on the menu is a safe bet.

We often come here for an afternoon lunch and libation. Good value for money — bring your appetite, especially if you order the house salad! Friendly staff, great setting.

Today I just learned the history of Molly’s Reach. Apparently, it was not a real restaurant to begin with. It was actually a stage prop restaurant that served fake food in the Beachcombers tv series. After the Beachcombers ended, the place closed down for awhile. Later someone bought it and started serving real food. The food wasn’t bad but isn’t like wow. Also note if you are like me hoping to get breakfast, you have to come before 11am. This is not like Vancouver where breakfast is serve all day. Came it and sat down at 11:01 am. So sad just missed it. I then ended up ordering a rib eye steak sandwich with clam chowder. The clam chowder is so so. Its not that creamy. I had the steak medium rare and the steak was actually very tender. I would give 4 stars to the steak and 2.5 stars for the clam chowder. We also got complementary nacho with salsa. The nancho was really fresh and good. I liked it. The service was not bad. Wish the food came out quicker. Waited a bit longer than expected. But overall, I would come back again.

Should be called«Molly’s Wait». Should have guessed it was going to be a while when the waitress brought us a complimentary salty snack. The food at its best can be described as meh, I even had some extra garnish — 2 stray hairs! If you don’t mind waiting 45 minutes for mediocre food this is the place for you, but you can do better! To be fair the location was great and if you are there in the summer try and sit in the patio area.

Historical setting, excellent meal options, Beachcomber memorabilia, hsrbour views and great staff all contribute to this restaurant’s appeal. As a local I love recommending this place.

Molly’s Reach 2. 0: the culinary sequel. Molly’s was full by opening today… and rightfully so… such a satisfying breakfast with fresh bright orange yolked eggs, cubed hash browns and the best sausage ever… not spicy, rather mild but such savoury meaty goodness. Definitely an iconic restaurant serving up good reliable casual eats. Such a cool interior, bright open and full of beachcomber memorabilia. Glad I came back. ‘appy noshin’ b rianm your

This is one of the restaurants that is considered a «must» for locals and tourists alike. It was featured in the show ‘The Beachcombers’ and remains a local icon. However, prestige and history aside, it’s a reasonably good food joint. It’s not as expensive as some of the other places in Lower Gibsons, and the food is pretty good. What really irks me is the variability in portion sizes relative to prices. You can get a really decent sized burger for a little under average price, but other menu options really seem to be lacking in quantity. I don’t know if they could give you any less soup as a side, and the only salad they offer for a side is pretty bland and unimaginative. The service I find is really hit or miss, sometimes is phenomenal, others dreadful. Depends on who’s serving you. I recommend the Mediterranean open-faced sandwich, and suggest steering clear from the shrimp — not that it was bad, just relatively bland and expensive for the amount given. Fortunately, the fries are some of the best on the coast. And the white wine sauce I had with clams was one of the best I’ve ever had.

This place is very pricy for what you get. Small portions of fish and chips with a little bit of fries and tasteless coleslaw. It also took them more than half an hour to serve the food. I would never go back again.

A fun spot to stop in for a piece of Canadian history! So, sadly I grew up in England and completely missed out on the Beachcombers experience, but as we were passing through Gibson’s Boyfriend just had to make a stop at Molly’s Reach. For us newbies it was super helpful to have Beachcombers playing on the tv, tons of photos up around the restaurant, and a character’s outfit framed on the wall! I loved that they had only Beachcomber themed beer on tap — I grabbed a Townsite Beachcomber Pale and it was very good. Boyfriend got the fish and chips, and I had their all day breakfast special. The bacon was super delicious, very crispy, and the potatoes were very flavourful. My toast was perfectly cooked and buttered, all ready for being slathered in peanut butter and marmalade! The scrambled eggs weren’t scrambled as much as I usually like, but overall it was a good meal. Boyfriend’s salmon was good, and the gluten free batter was tasty, light, and crispy. The chips were just regular fries, unfortunately, but I’ve almost given up on finding real chips here! The place is cute and quaint, and very busy. The food, drinks, and service were all good, but I probably wouldn’t be a regular here — if for no other reason than the cultural reference is lost on me!

It’s ok if you’re a tourist and want to get the whole«Beachcombers» thing. Great location. Otherwise, unless you like hair in your food, it’s not worth going to.

Came here years ago and it was terrible, but management has changed since then and we had a great dinner here. Patio is really nice in the summertime, overlooking the dock & harbor. Standard pub type food, well made with quality ingredients. Our table had fish & chips, burgers, grilled chicken burger, and salmon burger. All were very tasty, and the salmon burger had a 2 large pieces of grilled fish. Only quibble was with the fries– they were frozen type and only OK. Service was very friendly and fast. The Sunshine Coast is kind of slim pickings when it comes to food– I’d definitely return here.

Home of the Beachcombers! The Beachcombers is a Canadian comedy/drama TV series that ran from 1972 to1990 and is the longest running dramatic series ever in Canadian television. There was 387 episodes produced. Molly’s Reach was feature in the Beachcombers and has since been turned into a restaurant. They have named some of there dishes after the show and also have pictures and write ups displayed through out the restaurant. The food is pretty good. I’ve tried the fish taco, which is one big tortilla filled with normal fish taco ingredients… Biggest taco I’ve had but still a light meal lol. I’ve had the Persephone burger which was very good with onion rings, yummy! I was there during a happy hour when some beers and cocktails were cheaper yay! Not sure tho what days or times they do this… Sorry. A Canadian icon that should not be missed when visiting Gibson’s on the Sunshine Coast. That way you can say you been there and ate where the Beachcombers were filmed :).

Nice place to grab a bite on the patio once you arrive into the Sunshine Coast. The food isn’t too fancy but their menu seemed pretty extensive and since we were in early they were able to easily accommodate our large group without problem. They did add a 15% gratuity but that was reasonable as we were over 10 people. Ordered a coke and the salmon burger. The coke was a little flat but still okay and the salmon burger was really good. Two large pieces of wild salmon in the burger, I order salmon burgers pretty often but never had so much in one before so I was happy :)

The service here was incredible! The waitress we had was so patient and attentive with our big-hungover group of girls. The food we ordered was fresh and delicious and portions were huge. Lots of gluten free options, and very accommodating to food mods.

Was an ok experience… First time we dropped by we found it was going to be a 30 – 45 min wait… ummm… no thank. So… we went and walked around a bit… found a beach, and had a nap there for a while… Got REALLY hungry… so back we came. Seated right away… waitress was friendly… ended up deciding on the crab and shrimp sandwich for the wife and a beef dip for me(with a side of yam fries and a cider… *sigh* Growers… apple flavoured cider. Really? Why not just make the damn stuff from apples like you should be doing in the first place… ok… not here for a cider rant). The beef dip was nicely plump with beef, and carmelized onions… au jus was … au juey(?). The yam fries were tasty. Overall. it was ok. Ok… but for the price… not that ok. Solid 2 ½ being bumped up because I can’t give ½ star reviews. :P Server made the round up easy.

I’m actually giving this a two and a half star rating. I’ve been to Molly’s three times now, so I feel that I can write some sort of educated review of the place. Most recently, I was there for breakfast with my guy. We were the very first guests to arrive that day and had our choice of seating which was nice. There are tables next to the windows with southern exposure to the Gibson’s marina and near the front door of Molly’s there are booths(which I chose) with unusually hard cushioned seating. The waitress brought us coffee right away which was nice. The coffee is actually quite good for a diner/café and the server brought as much as I could drink and I appreciate that. On this particular morning I ordered the Beachcomber’s eggs Benedict with happens to be a favorite style breakfast of mine. The crab cakes were simply divine, but not the best on the coast. The server asked if I wanted my eggs poached soft, medium or hard which I really appreciated since raw eggs kinda freak me out. I ordered hard and thanked her for asking. The English muffin was well toasted but not burned and the crab cakes and eggs were piled high and topped with a very tart hollandaise sauce. It was strange in that I couldn’t really detect a lemony flavor, just a tartness which nearly overpowered the dish. My eggs were barely hard enough, so next time I would ask the server to let them cook longer than normal. The dish was accompanied with a small side of crispy hash browns which were really good and not greasy. On an interesting side note, since my guy and I were the only people in Molly’s on this particularly morning, my guy asked the server if they would change the radio station(it was playing nonstop Christmas music, something neither of us like). His request was denied with a capital D from the owner of Molly’s who preferred the station with 100% all Christmas, all the time. Breakfast was OK, all in all, but this review is based upon previous experiences as well. I do not like the chowder at Molly’s. It was just downright weird. The chowder started off really thick like a canned chowder but thinned out towards the bottom of the bowl making the texture strange. There was little flavour to it and I felt inclined to add tons of pepper to make it palatable. I would not order it again. I imagine that I will give Molly’s another chance sometime and maybe my opinion will change. My guy says he will definitely be happy to go back, but might wait until after Christmas.

Pricey but yummy bar food. Yam fries are nice and crisp. I had the Nick burger names after Nick of the Beachcomber TV series. Needless to say it was a lamb burger. Seafood chowder was well received too. Nice to see they old Beachcombers hangout alive and well. Good size portions too. Lastly, the ownership has changed and I understand the food has had a major upgraded due to that. So if you went there years ago and weren’t impressed, maybe try again.

Like Mark H. said, I’m not old enough to know much about Beachcombers. I only heard about it on this trip. However, I do know good food, and I can saw that the food here was nice. I ordered the lamb burger and it was sooo good! The bun was perfect, the burger was lamby(which I like), and it came with feta and garlic mayo. Super Yummy! The onion rings and fries were pretty good. The side salad looked nice as well. However, the other big winner of our lunch here seemed to be the chicken club sandwich. It was huge and looked really flavourful. And as far as I know, the guys liked it. Plus, they had good coffee. Win!

Came back again. Bought some T-Shirts and had myself a Lamb burger. Juicy lamb patty on toasted bun(I only ate the bottom half of the bun — trying to not ingest too many carbs) and had a ceasar salad with it. Cup of java from Salt Spring Island and I was good to go for a walk around town. My Buddy Rino had the fish and chips which he said was good. The clam chowder was nice with big chunks of clams(not the cheapo canned itsy bitsy clams). A bit of grit from the clams helped to make it more authentic??? The waitress was very nice and knowledgable about the food and the history of the old Diner. For this meal, I have it at a good 3.5 to 4 stars.

At the top of the dock off Gibson’s Landing. Can’t miss it, yellow building that apparently used to be on a TV show. Nice views of the harbour and a good patio for people watching. Serviceable food, amazingly long wait for seafood«chowder» — which turned out to be cafeteria-like vegetable soup with a side of chopped up seafood bits(a side as in like a ketchup paper cup side), clams and calamari. Really disappointed in the«chowder», it was really just vegetable water. I thought they had made a mistake in my order, until she pointed out the side of chopped seafood bits. A bit better luck with the fried oyster burger. Comes with decent fries and an over-sauced salad. I guess it’s hard to go wrong with most things deep-fried.
