There is a terrible, terrible dearth of art & craft suppliers in Guelph. Despite the fact that many well-known professional jewelers & bead workers live in the area, one has been forced to drive to Kitchener or Toronto to find supplies. Well, no longer! If the incredibly gracious folks at Crafter’s Cupboard don’t have it, they’ll find it for you! Additionally, they host multiple local craft guild meetings(including the Grand River Bead Society, which I belong to), they have fantastic work space that’s available for events(and they host multiple crafting events, as well), and they even have specialists teach classes several times a week(I’m addicted to the classes). Many of those classes and events are for kids, and the crafts they do aren’t the shlocky variety you got stuck with in summer camp — they turn out terrific keepsakes that are worth keeping for their own merit, not just as something the bambino/bambina made. They have great tools, a HUGE selection of books for sale, and they’re knowledgeable about so many crafts that they themselves are a great resource. All in all, I’m completely thrilled that they’re here!(Now I just need a bit more self-control when I go there, so I don’t end up buying half the store every time…)
