Stopped by the Young Ave. location recently. Where do they recruit from, the DMV? Slowest and most apathetic service ever. Won’t be back, ever.

Quality ingredients. Speed. Great service. Fair price. Sounds like a winning plan for a great lunch. Staff were above standard walk up counter service. Very helpful and cool. I had a great chicken burrito. Nothing but great bang for your buck.

As a vegetarian I could not give fewer craps about a goddamned donair. But burritos from Burrito Jax… that is comfort food done right, and it’s consistently great. Goddamn guys, some friggin’ good.

I really love this place, I eat here pretty much whenever I’m on Halifax. However I had to reduce my rating due to an embarrassing experience. I have rave reviews to some co workers of mine and convinced them to order lunch from them. I used their promotional offer of order over $ 40.00 get a meal free. I went on about how big the burritos are. When we got them they were smaller then when you order a small regularly and we ordered larges. Shame on you burrito jax.

I stumbled upon this place after a night out drinking. The restaurant is a hole in the wall but the food I ordered was good. Mexican food is always a go to option and now that I know that this place is open very late I will be stopping by more often.

I decided to go ‘all out’ on my most recent lunch break and ditch the traditional sandwich for a burrito when I visited the Burrito Jax location on Blowers Street. This location is not overly big — there are a handful of tables on your right as you enter the building — and even then you feel a bit cramped as there are usually several people waiting in line to order. I did notice that the staff manage to get through the line relatively quickly and they are good with the food portions. I ordered the 12-inch chicken burrito and added lettuce, tomatoes, rice, and a handful of smashed beans for good measure. The total of the order was just over $ 10.00, including a drink, which I thought was good value. In the end, I took the burrito back to work instead of staying there, making sure I handled the burrito softly just to ensure it didn’t fall apart on me. I figured the burrito would eventually fall apart soon after I started eating, but it didn’t until almost the very end. The 3-star rating is because I found the whole wheat bread a bit stale; even so, this won’t deter me from trying their food again later on down the line.

Only have gone there drunk, was told it was Subway for burritos. Very bland flavors, try to hide blandness with spice. Would not recommend.

Got my first«Burrito Jax» burrito today. Busy spot, but I must say that I love how these guys are on top of everything, friendly, explain the ingredients, and are super fast/efficient. Although the establishment is a bit of a hole in the wall, I usually hear nothing but good things so I was kind of excited to try it, so four of us went for lunch. I had the chicken burrito which probably would have been a lot better had I realized that their salsa’s contain cilantro… which I am not a fan of… at all. The cilantro flavor is so overpowering, that it’s all I could taste. A shame really. ¾ of us got a burrito, and all were quite messy. While holding it, a liquid dripped continuously from the bottom, and parts of the wrap flopped over while eating it allowing the toppings to tumble out. No real harm, just have lots of napkins handy. They have great toppings to choose from, and everything looks fresh and full of color. I will have to try it again with the cranberry instead of cilantro salsa… and perhaps a bit more cheese. Note: there is a very small amount of seating available, so plan to grab and go.

About the same as a chipotle burrito shop. Dunno if they simply caught me in a critical mood, but I wasn’t that impressed. Nice staff. Burritos take forever to be grilled though.

Although the set up of the place is well done, i am honestly not a fan of the burritos! I have been given many evil glares from people when i announce this in related conversations. But honestly, i find the burritos lacking that special something, they seem underwhelmed.

Have wanted to try this place for months but was never downtown really until the last week. Went on a windy, pouring Thursday at noon and glad I just beat the line-up. By the time I left at say 12:30, there were 7 or 8 people in line, which isn’t a lot, but for the size of the place, that seemed busy. Reminds me very much of my favorite place on earth, Burrito Boyz of Toronto. Same casual atmosphere inside with few Mexican décor items, loud music, all 20-something staff, 3 – 4 tables only, same order procedure, etc. And although this place isn’t as good to me as Burrito Boyz, it’s still good enough where I will go back because it REMINDS me of Burrito Boyz in that bizarre nostalgic way, where I can sit down, read the free paper, peel back my wrapper and enjoy every bite to the end, knowing I will be definitely full. Tried the large veggie burrito on whole wheat with most toppings.(‘smashed’ rice & beans, sweet potato, black beans, lettuce, tomato, marble cheese, onion, possible green pepper?, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, burrito sauce and one ‘strip’ of hot sauce. The hot sauce is the main differentiating thing here. I’m used to just ‘dots’ of it where no hot sauce is considered the mild, 1 dot is slightly spicy, 2 dots is more spicy, etc. Jax’s hot sauce isn’t near as severe. My nose did run, but it was just about right for heat for what I like. Guess advice to people is to experiment with less hot sauce at first, then if you need more, always easier to ask for more next time. Kind of expensive at $ 9.00 something after tax, but you will be satisfied for hours so could be worse I guess. Staff were quite friendly, with the guys helping each other out.(eg the one taking my order didn’t seem to fully know the computer yet and one of the others was helping him out while rushing to make the orders). Although I don’t go downtown late at night like I did in my 20s, I can see that this place would be most enjoyable after some drinking.

I’m always happy with my burritos here. Fresh ingredients, great music and a friendly staff keep me coming back for more. I only wish there was a faster way to cook the burritos.

I’ve never been very big into burritos. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I never had much exposure when I was a small child. We were a taco/fajita family only. So now I’m looking at what, a fajita that has ten pounds of rice and beans stuffed into it? Do I really want that? Hell yeah, I do. I tried the chicken for my first time with Jax, and what a great choice it was. This is some delicious meat right here. Layered with cheese, rice, their special burrito cream topping beans, and crisp veggies? Delicious times twelve. I also opted for their cranberry salsa and it was surprisingly tasty. The cranberry flavour that I thought wouldn’t fit turned out to be a great match! Which is good, because all their other salsa’s have cilantro in them, which means gross. Did you know you can have sweet potato instead of beans on your burrito? I didn’t, but I plan to next time.

Since working downtown for the last X number of years, I’ve wanted a place that I could go to that had relatively quick service, wasn’t fast-food, with space to eat-in that wasn’t a full-service restaurant. Burrito Jax slightly expanded their interior last year adding a few tables and since then it’s become a staple for me on my lunches. Their burritos are overflowing but never actually break open so they aren’t messy. There are options for beef, chicken, pork, vegetarian and several others, along with the standard filling choices of beans, rice, veggies and a selection of sauces and salsas. Plus the highlight: they grill the burrito. I’ve yet to have a bad burrito from this place, and I go here more often than I know I should… This place is always among my top choices of places to eat when I’m downtown and when it’s not, it’s a great backup plan.

It’s taken me a long time to try Burrito Jax. I’ve stayed away because I don’t like refried beans. I was recently informed that you get to choose all the fillings and that they have sweet potato which makes a good sub for the beans. After finally giving them a try, I have to say I’m in love. A small burrito comes to less than $ 7 and is the perfect size for lunch. I’ve been getting the Jax Chicken with Cranberry Salsa and really enjoy the flavors. I’m taking away a star for the ambiance, I hate the music they play, and not to sound like an old person, but it’s so loud! I find it makes ordering and waiting a bit stressful. Luckily, I’ve discovered that you can order online which helps minimize the time you’re stuck in there.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review about Burrito Jax yet. I come here at least 2 or 3 times a week on average — it never gets boring. I’ve tried almost all of the burritos, my favourites would have to be the ‘Jax Chicken’(chicken with a mix of spices?) or pulled pork. All the veggies are always fresh, and the salsas and hot sauces they have are great. The burrito sauce is awesome, don’t skip out on this. Its nice being able to eat something so delicious, while it being so healthy — if you’ve never been to Burrito Jax you HAVETOGO.

This place is one of my go to lunch spots downtown. Not just because its just down the street, because it’s delish. I mean who doesn’t like a burrito, tons of fresh ingredients, a variety of salsas, sauces and sour creams all wrapped up in a tidy tortilla. Boring people, that’s who. The fellas are friendly. The line is sometimes long. It’s not a place you really want to sit in, although I have sat in there. But it’s always worth it. I have had both the pulled pork and the jax chicken. The pulled pork is my fav. But I like to switch things up, by changing the sauces etc. There is only one thing I wish for, the sweet potato is a little cold and doesn’t always heat enough even though the burrito is grilled. I just wish it was in the warming station. I don’t get it now for that reason. If you are looking for lunch on the fly you need to go here.

Probably my favorite«fast food» joint. Because I do not eat fast food, I am always looking for local restos to grab my supper when i am too lazy to cook and don’t really want to sit in. Burrito Jax is it! The prices are fantastic! Ok, so people can argue these aren’t «authentic» burritos– whatever, they don’t market them like that. They sell them as a pita filled with delicious goodness. The veggies are always fresh with a wide selection. And many sauces and salas to choose from. Then the meat. Oh the meat is soooooo good. I personally like the beef and pork. Even without meat, the veggie is still satisfying and delish. Try the burrito sauce and cranberry salsa, they do not disappoint!

I was never a ground beef person, so obviously I have stayed away from burritos… little did I know a burrito didn’t have to be ground beef. Anyway… Let me set the tone of this story for you; it’s Saturday night, 3:16am, Pizza Corner. My friends and I went our separate ways to feed into our alcohol induced cravings. Sarah had a burrito; like I said, I wasn’t one for burritos, but this particular burrito was just screaming ‘eat me’, so I did — I took a big bite of her delicious burrito! Instantly I wanted to trade in my poutine. I knew I was going to have a new restaurant added to my Pizza Corner rotation. Speed forward a few weekends… it was my turn for a full Burrito Jax experience! The staff are awesome; they know their stuff and they’re good at it. You don’t even have to know what you’re doing — they’ll just start asking you question and you’ll be building your burrito as you go. The burritos are humungous and can be stuffed with pork, beef, chicken, pepper steak or just veggies. They have lots of sauces(hot sauces, sour cream, «jax» sauce etc) and 4 – 5 different salsas(including cranberry salsa!), all kinds of veggies, rice and beans! With so many different options you can never get sick of Burrito Jax.

Okay, so I don’t claim to an aficionado when it comes to burritos but I gotta say to the owners and staff of Burrito Jax: Good stuff. Well done. I can’t remember what prompted me to swing by for my first visit but I’ve been back several times and have not been disappointed. I don’t vary my order much — I’m pretty happy with the veggie burrito I got. I may mix up the condiments a bit but each time the outcome is great. Staff genuinely seem happy(which is a very good thing!) and seem more than capable of dealing with tons of customers lining up outside their door during the lunch hour rush. The«waiting area» is a bit spartan — could do with some more seats. You also shouldn’t plan to eat in — again limited seating. Prices are good and, really, a great deal for the deliciousness you get in return. I’ve been with friends who’ve tried it for the first time and no one’s been disappointed yet. Be prepared — you will have to wait about seven minutes(they always say seven minutes) from the time you finish ordering to the time of final burrito delivery. Worth the wait.
