I suppose it’s obvious by my rating that I haven’t got good things to say.
To begin with, when I went for my appointment on Thursday, I was told that it had never been made. I had made the appointment earlier that week, and I am told it must have been the owner I was speaking to. Was then offered an appointment on Friday, which was ok. It was strange that, considering they claimed to have no records of me, they then knew my phone number without my telling them…
Onto the actual service. I very clearly stated to them «I only want my winter tires put on my alloys, and my wheels balanced.» It sounded like I was fairly early in the lineup for the day so at lunch, I called to see if the car was ready yet. Was told that mechanic had it out for a test drive and would return soon. They then called later to say that the car was back from test drive, and they were now working on the tires. I was pretty confused at this point, considering they had apparently not yet even done the work the car was in for, so what was the [20km long] test drive for?
I very soon found out. Over the course of that phone call, and a couple more during the afternoon, they gave me a list as long as my arm of things they thought were wrong with the car, and pressured me to have them fixed. They told me I had a seized brake caliper, dirty power steering fluid, that my oil was leaking (they later changed this to radiator fluid), that I had a parking light out, and that another caliper was «probably going to seize soon». I said to them a couple of times during all this «you know I only had the car in for the tires right?»
Needless to say, this list sounded like dime-​a-​dozen mechanic BS. Much of it is stuff they might think the average car owner won’t know how to check, and if I had taken their advice, I would have spent another 200−300% on top of what I did. I didn’t fall for it, and over the next few days was able to rule out almost everything they told me about. I definitely haven’t got a seized caliper, my radiator fluid (or my oil) ISN’T leaking (though I’m pretty sure they siphoned it to make it look like it was), and the «parking light» was actually a brake light, and it wasn’t even out — it had just magically been unscrewed.
So in conclusion: there are 3 possible explanations, which I will list in order of increasing likelihood. 1. Their business exists at the center of a quantum probability field where cars that work perfectly in their driveways (and everywhere else) suddenly malfunction, 2. They are incompetent, or 3. They are prepared to sell you a string of lies in the hopes that you’ll be foolish enough to pay them hundreds more than what you came in for. In any of these cases, my strong recommendation is that you don’t give them your business. If it is in fact the quantum probability field, they have my deepest sympathies. If otherwise, they can have something quite different from me, and they know where they can shove it.

I booked my ’04 Jeep TJ for service on the Friday morning before a long weekend. Service was great. I dropped the vehicle off at 08:00. Within two hours I got a call from them. They listed all the things that they thought should be done to the vehicle, prioritised them, and gave an indication of costs. We agreed the work to be done. In the afternoon they called to say the vehicle was ready for pickup. The invoice provided details of the work done, and the outstanding issues. Nice bonus; the work included FREE roadside assistance for one year.
Overall, excellent organisation to deal with. Very professional.
