New York Fries

This is your average NYF the staff are friendly service was quick and the food was exactly what I expected the food court is very clean always staff emptying the garbages and clearing the tables

I think almost everyone who grew up going to the various malls around our fair province has a special memory of getting New York Fries as a treat. Jokes on you, parents. I’m an adult now! Treat be damned! I can make bacon and eat NYFries whenever I want!
The truth is, I’ll always prefer just the fries on their own. I know the poutine is legendary, and the veggie works is surprisingly delicious, but there’s just something about a tall paper cup of fries doused in malt vinegar and peppered to within an inch of their lives that makes me so happy.
Still, I will admit that the poutine is shockingly tasty. I spent five years working in a mall and whenever myself or one of the girls had something to celebrate, we did it with poutine. Of course, we also drowned our sorrows in poutine if we’d had a bad day, so you did have to ask what the circumstances were before commenting on anyone’s meal choice.
It’s nice to know there’s at least one spot in the food court you can trust to always satisfy.

This review is not for ANYONE that wants to eat something healthy. Although delicious, I recommend the foods listed below be consumed rarely and definitely not by anyone with cholesterol, weight or heart issues. You’ve been warned…
When I was a little kid, my mom used to treat me to New York Fries once in a blue moon. They had a little shop in the Bayers Road Mall (wait, that mall actually had more than offices in it?!) and on random Saturday afternoons we’d finish our shopping and head to the food court to share a coke and some fries. I think that’s when my love affair with grease began. I can still remember waiting with mom as we watched them cut the potatoes, dip our fries and then we got to bring them back to the table… YUM!
Today, my love affair has not changed. New York Fries is just as good as ever — if not better! The location in Halifax Shopping Centre starts with a great staff. They’re kind, attentive, quick and helpful. From there, the menu has grown. No longer are we limited to just fresh fries and cokes; they now have a variety of poutines, loaded fries, hot dogs and drinks.
One evening, my husband, the poutine-​a-​holic, and I decided that we would take our NYF coupons and head over to test out the new tastes. He ordered the «works» and I got the braised beef poutine. We were not disappointed. His works came with beef chili, fresh made fries, sour cream, cheese sauce, fresh green onions and real bacon. I stole a bite. It was FANTASTIC.
My braised beef was even better — picture this epic beef stew (with carrots, onions and mushrooms in a delicious red wine sauce) poured over cheese curds and fresh fries. Now, think about how good that would be. Now multiply it by 3. That’s how good it was. Maybe better. Try it for yourself!
