History

Established in 2011.

Serpentine Studios opened its doors in September 2011 on Barrington St. Our beautiful studio moved to the heart of downtown Halifax on Spring Garden Road in 2014. The space includes an upper reception area, boutique, tented lounge and small upper studio, large lower studio with mirrors, and two spacious washrooms with 3 luxurious showers. We offer top-​quality instruction in 3 styles of bellydance taught by Halifax’s top performers, as well as hula hoop, burlesque, flexibility, and fitness classes. We also offer Registered Massage Therapy sessions, we know that active bodies need healing and preventative care.

Business Owner

Laura Selenzi and Monique Ryan have spent years dreaming this space into reality, envisioning a space where people come to explore movement, discover bellydance, and join a vibrant and supportive community.

Monique’s Tribal Fusion and Laura’s Classic Egyptian training combine to create a unique and hypnotic style that has delighted audiences across Canada since 2003. After years of «Cabaret Serpentine» working together to produce popular

bi-​annual shows, workshops, and bringing international bellydance luminaries to the Maritimes, the duo realized their goal of opening Serpentine Studios as of 2011 in Halifax, NS. Join us and try a class for yourself!
