Not very impressed with only 2 change rooms as one is out of order. Why does a change room become out of order

This place is likely the busiest Salvation Army location in Nova Scotia. That being said, I often find the items here a very bold mix of bad vintage and cheap, worn clothing. It’s not all bad, I scored a sideboard here for $ 40 with a 50% off stamp card(LOVE their stamp cards!!). I’ve picked up some cute dresses and jewelry here, lots of housewares, too. Some of the staff are really nice, the daytime manager is an absolute angel, but there are a couple staff who have a tendency to still hard to the rules, and they forget about customer service. I visit this location quite a bit as it’s by my work and I can pop in at lunch time on a stressful day at work and I can get lost for a while. The parking situation can get dire on the weekends, but there is a lot available for overflow down the hill towards Ford. Do not part in colour works spots, even if they’re always empty. Regardless of the dodgy wares and spotty service, I will continue to frequent this store and prevail for the greater good of thrifting.

This use to be my least favourite thrift shop, but since the Green Street location closed down(which was my favrouite), I think that all the donations that went there, come here now. Making this thrift shop my current favourite! I always find something when I go in, and the selection of brands and quality of clothing has gone up. It’s also larger than it used to be, not as big as the Green Street location was, but this little Sally Ann is trying, and I appreciate the effort. I’m actually wearing a sweater today that I picked up there not long ago, a new Michael Kors white wool knit sweater. Really cute, got some compliments on it. It was $ 14 which is double the price of sweaters they normally sell, but it was new and really, $ 14 is a steal. There isn’t much parking here though, which is a bummer on the weekend, and it’s not really walk-able. Be careful when you do find a parking spot, and read the signs. Do not park in other businesses spots, they will tow you! One more tip: when you bring clothing items to donate, let them know at the cash, and they will give you a coupon for $ 10 off a purchase of $ 25 or more. I lied, another more tip: every Friday is a different sale day. Could be 50% all clothing, or buy one get one, or a sale on children’s clothing. you get the idea. The pink dress in the photo is a Betsy Johnson Evening dress that I picked up on half price day. It’s my Halloween costume.

I think this is my favorite thrift store in HRM. It’s got a decent selection whenever I stop in, and you can’t really complain about the prices(which are a third the price of what Value Village would charge). Staff are always friendly and I can easily lose hours in there. Fitting rooms are a little cramped, and a lot of clothes are in the wrong size section, but I always walk out with something I actually end up wearing.

friendliest staff of all the halifax/dartmouth salvation army stores, though perhaps SLIGHTLY less efficient. you can’t be surprised about this as this location is always busy and they only have one ATM. lots of turnover: always a recent influx of new goods. also, great prices.

I love me some good deals, I don’t mind rooting, and I’ve been broke for the last two years(hubby in school, me being the sole breadwinner, and planning a wedding for most of 2011), so thrift stores are pretty much my mecca. And this Sally Ann is a really solid place to shop. I like Salvation Army stores in general because when I buy things from them I know I’m supporting a great cause; as a charity I have the highest respect for what they do for their community. This location is a decent size, and generally has a fairly wide selection of clothing and accessories(purses, shoes, scarves, etc.), and also has a pretty large housewares section with a little bit of everything from dishes, glassware, and collectibles to small appliances. I don’t think I’ve ever walked away without scoring at least one awesome find.

I love this Sally Ann. It’s location is not only downtown but also in the midst of all the Universities. Due to students donating all of their clothing you’re bound to walk away with something brand name and basically new for between $ 2-$ 7. Pointer-Every Wednesday from 3 – 5 they have a 50% off sale on clothing. On my last visit I revamped my brother in laws wardrobe with styles from American Apparel and Banana Republic and everywhere else in between. We spent $ 60 and walked out with 2 garbage bags filled with designer clothing. I bought myself a Gucci bag and brand new Airwalk boots for $ 5. Seriously, if you look hard enough you’ll find some amazing items.

I feel compelled to up the ante and throw a fifth star in the mix in support of this Salvation Army. Yesterday I took an impromptu browse of the various offerings, including great summer shoes and some sweet tops and jackets. I ended up trying on a super sexy retro leather jacket, lined with a fabulous paisley design. It didn’t fit quite the way I’d hoped, but I loved it nonetheless. I tried on a few summer tops, and when I’d decided against buying anything I found the messenger bag/purse of my dreams. I’ve been on the hunt for a previously loved brown leather tote, perfect for a book, wallet and those other little odds and ends. In a bin near the changing rooms I discovered this gorgeous treasure buried amidst some other random goodies. ANDITWASONLY $ 4! YAY! The service is friendly and genuine, and the store is bright and tidy. Hands down, this is now my favorite Sally-Anne in the city!

I call it slop shop hopping. This location on Strawberry hill was probably one of the first locations that I went to and got me started. I wish they would do something about the smell of this location as sometimes it turns me off of shopping or makes my visit quick. Normally when I go I do have a routine and go straight to the purses to see if anyone has turned in something that I would like. Many times I have found things that were in good conditions. I have purchased articles of clothing here I really like when I come across a nice pair pair or worked in jeans that I can turn into a jean skirt. Around back if you are ever finding that your closets or household items are starting to stack up and you are not using them you can drop them off in one of the many bins outback.

I’ve been in and out of this store a few times. I’ve never come away empty-handed, so that’s a good thing. Be prepared to do plenty of digging and sorting, though, because the clothes aren’t organized very well. You’ll always have a crowd accompanying you, so learning how to weed through the clothes quickly is critical. This Sally-Ann also offers used household goods(no mattresses, though — you have to head to Green Street or the Bayers Lake Industrial Park locations for those). Books are generally in great abundance and are sold quite cheaply. I wish there was a bit more care over the items, but the prices are in line with other frenchys-type locations.
