Tiger Express Esso

After purchasing gas at this location for years, I am disappointed to say that, due to the staff member who was so incredibly rude to me, I will never purchase my gas at this location again. I confessed that I’d forgotten my wallet and, despite living 5 blocks away, was told that I was not permitted to leave the lot, despite my offers to leave collateral to her. I explained politely that I am transporting an elderly woman to and from appointments and how did she expect me to do so and her response was «well, I guess you’d better figure out another way to deal with your grandmother then.» Her power trip toward me left me and my elderly grandmother stranded in Halifax during a snowstorm. Thank you, staff, for your poor attitude and unnecessary power grab that has left an 88 year old woman stranded in a city she doesn’t live in. Don’t forget, you work at a gas station. Hope this helps you sleep at night. This just lost you a customer.

No surprises here, service was pretty fast, people were OK, and their ATM took chip and no chip cards. Typical service station snacks and drinks, although their ice cream selection was better than you’d think.

So there’s this thing called a gas station…
It’s not complicated to maneuver around this thing called a gas station:
1) have car.
2) need gas.
3) proceed to nearest gas station
This particular Esso (also known as «tiger express») is so close to my house it deserves my three star review because when the «oh crap» button lights up on my dash (that’s the E my friends) I know all I need to do is make it the 3 blocks before I’m on the road again and my Dusty (you do name your car right?) is happy (and full).
One of my favorite parts about this particular station is that it offers the «Express Gas» option. No need to dig in my wallet (my wife’s wallet really) for the bank card. Just a quick swipe of the blue do-​hickey on my key chain and I’m well on my way to filling up my tank (while emptying out my bank account).
I don’t go inside the convenience store too often (once actually — to activate the blue do-​hickey) but it looked stocked full of what you expect (pop, coffee, chips, and beef sticks) and the ever popular Tim Horton’s (even though there is a full functioning T. H’s, in the same parking lot as the gas station.
Gas, we need it.
Luckily this place has it.

A great big place on the corner of Young and Robie. Lots of pumps so there is never any waiting.
