Travel CUTS

A trip to the old stomping ground, ye old Alma Mater if you will, was the destination of choice yesterday afternoon.
After searching online for flight prices, Andrew and I came across some mind-​boggling deals on the Travel Cuts webpage. We decided to venture to this travel center to see in person if these super deals were indeed available.
You must head into the basement of the Student Union Building if you want to get to Travel Cuts. I suppose it isn’t the type of place that most people, save for Dalhousie students, would head for travel deals, purely based on the location.
There was one agent working and she was with another student for about 15 minutes before we chatted with her. After giving her the specifics, she started typing away, searching for the flights we’d found earlier. But to no avail, as the cheapest ones she could locate were double the price.
Andrew and I headed to the library to use a computer in hopes that we’d find the hot-​ticket deals once again and imagine that, we did. I thought it to be a tad odd that the travel agent, with her supreme searching powers, couldn’t find what we underlings discovered.
In the end, we had to go back to Travel Cuts to buy $ 25 youth cards (if you’re 25 and under you qualify for deals and these cards are the golden key, apparently), which we had to agree to purchase when we confirmed our tickets online. The agent was helpful and we will head back for future flight info, as they do tend to have the lowest prices if you’re in your 20s. Moral of the story though, check for yourself online first before handing over your moola because you never know what kind of deals you’ll find if you suss it out for yourself first.
