I really can’t say much about the burgers here but why the hell are you buying those? Have you tried the chili? It is so great. The chili is the second best thing on the menu: the chili hot sauce is the best I’ve ever tasted. So, how to make it a full North American size meal? Buy a baked potato with chives and sour cream… Step 2, put a pat of butter and some sour cream on it. Step 3, open a packet of hot sauce or two and apply. Step 4, pour the chili all over. Step 5, more hot sauce. Eat with knife and fork, of course, ahhhhh, soooo good. Wendy’s chili is possibly the best in the city. No, it IS the best. I hear the burgers are so so and the coffee is yuck. Get the chili!

Straight out of the gate, I love Wendy’s. They’re my favourite burgers in the fast food industry, and I’d take them over any other fast food place out there. Their new Hot N Juicy burgers and new fries are even more of an improvement for the brand. Unfortunately the new patties are only for the quarter pounders, and not in the Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers(times three) that I got on my latest visit. They’re not as cheap as the equivalent on the McDonald’s menu, but everything is better. From the meat itself, to the buns and the toppings, to the lack of the weird McD’s aftertaste, there’s just no competition. I’ve always enjoyed the more laid back atmosphere of this Wendy’s that is less manufactured and in your face feeling than other fast food joints, and even other Wendy’s locations. You can sit down, enjoy your meal and chat with your friends without having garish colours and shiny plastic everywhere. With the wages that they’re paid, work and punishment that they have to endure and the high turnover rate of employees at fast food restaurants, it’s hard to get consistently high service at any of these places, but I’ve never had a problem at Wendy’s and wish I could go there more. For years my friends and I have complained that there isn’t a Wendy’s in the downtown, and I still hope that they eventually expand to give McDonald’s a run for their money.

I love Wendy’s, especially their chocolate frosty’s mmmmHMmmm. But this location is mediocre on all counts. Not only was the service given by someone who clearly did not want to be there, but the order took 6 minutes. The fries were soggy, chicken burger so over cooked it was hard. My boyfriends burger was so messy and thrown together he had to take it apart and put it all together himself. The location is bland and old. Bathroom is disgusting. Just needs a good ol’ update!

I went to QEH, which meant that for 3 years of high school I dined at the Wendy’s on Quinpool road at least twice a week. I have probably put back my body weight in Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers(JBCs for the regulars), and finished off enough frosties to fill a bathtub. If you’re not totally disgusted by the mental image I just painted for you, read on. Although my tastes have evolved since high school, sometimes you just have to go back to basics. The other night I was starving and in a bit of a rush, so I swung by my old stomping ground. They now offer a deal where you can get ½ a ‘Garden Sensation’ salad and one of a variety of sides(chili, fries, baked potato, etc.) for around $ 6.49 + tax.(See ) — So healthfood and junkfood at the same time. I was sold. The apple pecan salad was actually pretty good, and the burger was as expected, but what reallllllly impressed me was the guy who took my order. He was SO on his game. Sometimes you don’t get the best service at fast food establishments *cough-McDonalds on Spring Garden Road-cough*, and I totally understand and accept that, but this guy served up my semi-complicated order as fast as facebook changes privacy settings.(If you missed the reference… he was fast). Anyway, it was easily the best $ 6.49 plus tax I’ve spent in the last few weeks, and also some of the best customer service. 2 thumbs up.

I used to live close to Quinpool so I sometimes stopped by to get a quick breakfast or late night snack. Some kids working at this branch(especially at night) is really terrible. After a couple times of very rude reception and filling in a complaint card at the shop did nothing to improve, I stopped going there entirely.

I spent the majority of the past few years in a town that doesn’t have a Wendy’s restaurant for miles so when I moved to Halifax I was excited at the prospect of dining here regularly. I’ve eaten here a few times over the past few months and have been disappoint each time. The first issue is with the food, it look like my burger had been assembled by a team of preschoolers and my fries were hard and cold like they had been sitting under the heat lamp for a few hours too long. Every restaurant has their off days, but there is no excuse for having such low quality food so often. The second issue I have is with the service I’ve received here. It’s taken me far too long to get my meals and didn’t receive any«sorry for the wait» or «it will just be a minute», just a long stare from the woman behind the counter as I watched her co workers move at a snails pace in the back. If this Wendy’s can pick up their socks and bring me some delicious meals like they used to then I’ll once again return to my advocacy, but until then I think I’ll find somewhere else to eat. Hot Hint: The famous Baconator sandwich is now available as a single, double or triple burger, for all sized appetites.

There was a time when I would have given Wendy’s a four star rating. But it’s a slippery slope and I really can’t give them any more than three stars. I love the Baconator when it came out. It was an unapologetic mass amount of meat. A friend of mine who was a vegetarian told me how gross she thought it was but I informed her that we didn’t become top of the food-chain to eat leaves. And the Baconator was proof in my mind ;). However, the service has been taking a bit of a dive with the staff at this particular Wendy’s. There use to be solid average service but now they seem to care even less than before. There are some who smile and serve well but a lot just don’t put any effort into smiling. I don’t know why this is starting to happen a lot but I hope it gets fixed. Wendy’s has now introduced their boneless chicken selection. I was excited to try this because I love chicken wings and I hate bones. This felt like a natural choice for someone in my position. However I can’t review the quality since the man preparing it for me didn’t «shake up» the container the wings and sauce were in very much at all. So the wings didn’t get an evenly distributed amount of sauce and didn’t taste at all impressive. I blame a bit on the employee and on the management staff for not correcting this. If making the wings involves shaking up the container, do it with gusto please! Working at Wendy’s or any fast food restaurant may not be glamorous but you are helping people out when they are hungry and we do appreciate it even if we don’t say it. So I hope the staff put a bit more effort and a lot more smiles into their work. Then, maybe then, I’ll switch it over to three stars.
