Overall, a very positive experience — I went with a very large group, and the restaurant was incredibly accommodating of our reservation. Probably helped that we gave them about 3 days notice. It feels very much like a old-world, family-style restaurant. Understated but stylish décor, and very clean. The food itself was also very appetizing. The sauces weren’t quite perfect, but they were still well-made. Great portions for the price, and it didn’t take an incredibly long time to bring the food out(based on other’s reviews, we may have caught them on a good day). For being in Hamilton, a very positive Italian cuisine experience!

Despite losing my reservation twice I had an amazing night out! The atmosphere was old school Italian so lots of décor but gave a really authentic Italian feel. We started out with wine and beer and was happy to see how inexpensive they were. Our appetizer was calamari which we enjoyed: good quantity and the batter was perfect and didn’t flake off. We split the chicken Parmesan with Rose sauce as well as ordered a pizza. The chicken parm was absolutely perfect and the Rose sauce complimented the meal excellently. The pizza came out late due to a mix up in the kitchen(which is fine, stuff happens!) and it was certainly worth the wait. The ingredients tasted so fresh and you could tell it was made with a lot of preparation and passion. Overall, excellent experience and would go back anytime!

Just had valentine’s dinner at Capri. The service was great, as well as the food. One of the best Italian restaurants in Hamilton and I’ve been to most. The chicken parm and pizza were home made and delicious. Everything was very reasonably priced. The one downfall was they lost our reservations.twice. Calamari was also delicious and you receive a good amount. It didn’t come with enough seafood sauce but we got extra, free of charge. Will definitely be one of my go-to’s for Italian.

Came here in a pinch after we found out it was an hour wait at another restaurant. We were seated right away and then had to wait 30 minutes to place our order. A table of 4 came in just after us and left about a good 30 – 40 minutes before us. We advised the waitress and hostess that we were catching a show at 7:30PM…that was at 6PM… it’s and at 7:10PM we were still waiting for the food. Our drinks were finished well before the food arrived and we weren’t offered refills. Finally at 7:20PM the food arrived. Kind of. Missing a pizza but a majority of everyone’s food did get there. We chowed down quick but had to wait 20 minutes for the bills. A majority of our group left as we said we’ll make sure the bills are covered. 15 minutes later we finally get the final bill… waitress felt the need to point out she did put rush on the order… we then noted none of the other bills were rushed despite telling her of the show and needing to be quick. If the food was worth it fine but it really wasn’t. I got the Gnocchi and it was ok. Parts were cold but it wasn’t anything special let alone worth the wait. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially if you’re in a rush.

God Awful! Stay away. First of all the place was dirty. Took 45 minutes to get served appetizer and was already cold. Then the food came. I had lasagna — some bites tasted freezer burnt. Hubby had gnoccis — they were like the kind you get in the frozen section of Walmart. Was offered Parmesan cheese — and the waitress plunked down a shaker of Kraft! Omg was one of the worst meals I’ve had in my life!

I was less than impressed with my food tonight. My boyfriend got the spaghetti Caruso and I got the veal parmigiana, each with penne. Our noodles were both under cooked, which is surprising considering it took an hour to get here. We paid $ 4 for garlic bread with cheese and received 43″ pieces, and my veal was slightly under cooked. The salad was probably the least disappointing.

Fabulous homemade food, prepared by a real Italian Nona :-) and hosted by co-owner and Son Sal. Famous for pizza, their generously portioned pasta dishes and appetizers are also superb. Top notch service, whether you dine in, take out or take over the newly restored Blue Grotto upstairs. An absolute must experience if you’re in the area. Our favourite dishes include the broccoli spaghetti and gluten free sausage penne. Bön appetite!

Just to let you folks know we are here at the Capri. I can let you know that the appetizers we had being their homemade minestrone zuppa and their traditional house salad have been absolutely wonderful. We further indulged in our main courses which were the pasta Arrabiata which was done perfectly El Dente and continued with the Pasta Shells. The Pasta Shells are filled with Spinach & Ricotta cheese and topped with a light savory tomatoes sauce. As our meal was about to conclude, we were pleasantly surprised to be treated to Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake and Chocolate Truffle Cake and a wonderful liqueur which was accompanied with their special house cappuccino. If anyone happens to be in the Hamilton area we highly recommend that you visit The Capri at 25 John Street North established in 1963.
