Food at this place is awesome as always. They give you an opportunity to make a «regular» burger great with just about any topping you can think of. For the first time we had the beet and goat cheese salad to start. Fresh little halved pickled beets were wonderful and the goat cheese and candied and roasted pecans gave the salad that little something extra. Loved it. If there was a downside it would be the smoke coming off of the grill that permeated the restaurant. Unfortunately either the ventilation was not working at all or they did not have appropriate ventilation. When we left our clothing really smelled of the smoke from the grill. It wouldn’t have been as bad if it wasn’t so strong. Our eyes were stinging at times sitting inside while we ate. All clothes into the washer when we got home. We hope they fix this ventilation problem because the food is unbelievably great and we love the service.

Excellent food — Tried the Southwest BBQ Burger, which was topped with beef brisket and two onion rings. Also had their traditional style poutine. Huge portion sizes made it well worth the price. I had people coming in the doors asking what I ordered it was that good! Definitely recommend it.

Don’t believe the hype! A long wait for a sub par burger. Sadly a A&W burger would have been easier, less expensive and equal if not better in flavour. Way too many TVs in a small place. Really nice staff however.

I find chucks isn’t quite what it used to be. I tried a regular burger when they first opened, and it was stupendous. Large, full of juice, with a crispy side of fries. I took a co-worker there last week, and it wasn’t the same. Service is still great, but I found the taste wasn’t on par. It may have been that day, and I’d still give them another chance, but not anytime soon.

The environment is good… But it is a bit too crowed for a restaurant. My burger bun is cold… Not a huge fan.

Holy chuck this place is chuckin’ crazy! Whether you’re looking for a mega burger experience in Hamilton or saw it from a certain Canadian Food Network TV show, Chuck’s on quaint Locke Street holds a place of its own in the city with its colossal focus on quality stomach-killing gourmet burgers. And I do mean colossal – they serve up incredibly tall, overstuffed burgers. Whether you build your own(patty options include bison), or choose from their preprogrammed choices from their overwhelming menu(and I do mean overwhelming – they either need to do a better job arranging the information or hire a better graphics designer, because it was so hard to read), you’ll get a meal so hefty you’ll amaze yourself by finishing every last fry. There is a burger for most dietary preferences here, and even if you get something at the low-valued end of the menu, like the $ 14 chili in a burger, you’ll still get a colossal product, you’ll struggle to fit everything in one bite, and you’ll chuck-le at the ingredients spilling all over. One standout drawback from my visit was they ran out of bacon burger patties, so anything bacon was out of the question. I don’t understand how one can run out of bacon so early on a Sunday; oh well. Alongside decent service, Chuck’s is quite narrow – mostly bar seating or tables for 2. They also have a variety of greasy poutines on the menu, and a handful of craft beers too. It almost reminds me of a typical Toronto burger house, but Chuck’s can easily top most of them.

I’ll keep this simple. This is the best independent burger joint I’ve been to in the Golden Horseshoe(Toronto, Hamilton etc). Everything from the cool mix of music(went during unch and it was 90’s souldful hip-hop and alternative, to the great beer(the good and natural Euro offerings) to it’s ridiculous food offerings which included free samples of candied bacon which had to be have been the best tasting thing I’ve had in a while. The burger were real proper, cooked perfectly, I had the Spanish gouda and wild mushrooms which were just phenomenal. I really want to try the grilled chicken and chorizo next time around but will be hard pressed to too what I had here. The menu is extremely diverse but works, just give their menu a read and tell when the last time you saw a bison burger with morbier and brie? Or as an appetizer turkey wings with hot butter buffalo sauce? This place puts attention to detail and you know whoever owns it puts quality at the top of his/her priorities.

Simply amazing! Tucked away, quaint little bar with amazing food. I had the chicken and chorizo burger and it was fantastic! My friend had the never-ending Greek Salad(it’s not called never-ending, it just seemed to never end)! I recommend the garlic and mayo dip for your fries. And you absolutely must try one of their lemonades! There are about 5 tables for 2, a counter with about 5 seats facing the window, or you could sit at the bar and enjoy watching sports on one of their 2 big screen tvs. I highly recommend everyone try this restaurant!

Oct 92015 — Time to try those Turkey wings I had heard of. Wow, were they ever good. 5 wings were enough for 2 people with a great Greek salad as well. Chuck’s is a small place with about 22 seats. The service is very good and next time it will be one of their burgers, for sure. I would recommend giving Chuck’s a try.

When this Homesick Son of the South found Chucks in Hamilton it was love at first bite. The meal started with a cold frosty Steam Whistle Czech Pilsner. There is a huge list of local and regional beers and many national favorites. Chris, the owner is a classically trained chef with two local eateries. Chucks is a singular wonder with both a build it yourself menu and a selection of pre programmed favorites. Not knowing exactly what was best, I allowed our barkeeper to guide me. She suggested we try the Fancy Schmancy that was loaded with 3 creamy cheeses over lean medium bison burger and the Smokey Blue haze bacon topped burger. Both were beyond delicious and topped with fresh onions and tomatoes slices. The side of homemade Slaw had a spicy undertone that one rarely finds north of the Mason Dixon Line. The house made pickles and toppings were of the best quality. The burgers are the main event but allow me to enlighten you about poutine. Mine was covered in cheese curds and pulled pork BBQ with delicious chicken gravy. Poutine in its most basic form is cheese curds on top of French fries with brown gravy, these poutines were not basic and were too big to finish. Two cold liters of San Pellegrino sparkling water accompanied us on our way to aid in digesting what has to be one of the premier burger experiences in the northland.

Bacon Burger. That’s all you need to know. Not a burger with bacon. A burger OF bacon. This place would get five stars if it wasn’t so small and hard to get a seat.

Tried to eat here twice. Key word ‘tried’. The first time it was so smoky in there due to the fact that they until recently did not have a proper ventilation system. It was really quite unbearable so we got up and left only to spend the rest of the day walking around smelling like smoke despite only being in there about 3 minutes. Glad to hear they finally got a ventilation system. The second time I walked in, was greeted and seated but after 6 minutes had still not been so much as given a menu so I got up and walked out. C’mon guys. The place holds like 15 – 20 people tops. There is no excuse for service like that. Get it together. A third time? Not likely.

An exquisite hole in the wall. We were headed from London to Niagara Falls and wanted some lunch. A little Unilocal later and we were stopped at Chuck’s Burger Bar. When we walked in we were warmly greeted and luckily found an empty table(it seats about 25). The menu is incredible, and many of the items are not usual burgers. I had the bacon burger(patty made from ground bacon). It was the best! My wife had the slider trio and picked from an assortment of sliders. The fries were quite good as well. I saw they had other things, like buffalo turkey drumsticks — maybe next time. They are licensed, and the Steamwhistle on tap is excellent. You need to try this out. I was not familiar with Locke Street, but there are many other good looking places to dine as well. This place made our day. It had a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the food was second to none.

Found this place on Unilocal actually after searching for a place to eat at when heading to Hamilton for Pan Am. We’ve got tons of burger joints in Toronto so it’s always nice to check one out that’s outside of Toronto. This of course became a bigger interest when I found out that it was featured on You Gotta Eat Here! Place is small, as expected but luckily we went in the middle of the afternoon so we were able to get seated right away. Food also came pretty fast which was great since we were starving after our 2-hour drive. Chuck’s Fresh Cut Fries — Can never go wrong with fresh cut fries especially ones that are perfectly fried. Could’ve used a little more seasoning, even just salt but was still really good. 4.5÷5 The Guilty Pleasure Burger — This is Chuck’s original burger where the patty is made of… wait for it… ground bacon. You’d think that it would be overly greasy or fatty but it really wasn’t. Was full of flavour and very juicy. 5⁄5. The Pescetarian Burger — If you’re cutting down on your red meat intake or if you’re a vegetarian(but eat seafood) then this burger is for you. Burger was so full of flavour and not to mention you get a generous amount of lobster that even as a carnivore, you wouldn’t really miss meat so much after this. I would go back just for this burger. 5⁄5. Bison Burger — From the menu, you had the option to pick one of Chuck’s Favourite or build your own burger. I had my eye(and belly) set on a Bison burger so I built my own. Nothing too fancy when it came to toppings as I didn’t want those flavours to overpower the bison. Was already impressed with the patty itself as it was very juicy with tons of flavour so I can just imagine how it would be if I were to put on more fancier toppings. Also would come back for this one. 5⁄5. Pulled Pork Poutine — First of all, the side portions are ginormous. Two and maybe even three people can share a side portion(also a small). The sauce on the pulled pork was on fleek! The beef gravy too was bomb. One of the best pulled pork poutine I’ve had. 5⁄5. Lobster Poutine — Comes in just one size which was ginormous. I literally had 4 – 5 bites and was full(as I also had a burger). You get a good amount of cheese curds(key to poutine) and of course lobster. Was utterly surprised with the serving size and the generous amount of lobster as it was only $ 14. Was also topped with diced tomatoes and was supposed to also be topped with green onions(though that was missing). Gravy used was a chicken gravy though I wish they had put more. 5⁄5.

We went on a Sunday evening around 8pm. I recommend going later to avoid the line up that is often seen going out the door. Our server was friendly and promptly took our orders after explaining the menu to us. The beer selection was great, lots of variety and some of my personal favourites. I ordered the Hawaiian(read: burger made of bacon). I forget the name of the one my boyfriend got but it was a beef patty topped with pulled pork and an onion ring. Both were cooked perfectly with a generous serving of fries. Honestly these were some of the best burgers I’ve had. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and top notch. I’ll definitely be coming back, perhaps to try their elusive turkey wings!

The Chuck’s we came to love and fought for to return is no longer worthy. Sigh. This is now the second time I’ve waited over a half hour for an over cooked burger when the chefs at the grill almost outnumbered the guests. Frankly, the guys at the grill seemed more interested in having a bro chat than in attending to their guests and kitchen. The onion rings were so overdone that they couldn’t even be bitten into. I hope there’s another turnaround, but after today’s experience I’ll never go back to find out.

My boyfriend and I recently attended a wedding in Niagara Falls, and decided to take a day trip to explore the Hamilton/Toronto area. Chuck’s came recommended, so we swung in for dinner after hiking at Dundas Peak. We were cliché tourists, and despite the Chuck’s being known for its burgers, we ordered Lobster Poutin(when in Canada, right?). The portion was colossal; I could not believe our server had asked if we wanted two. Although it isn’t my favorite dish, it was cool to get to try a Canadian dish, plus the restaurant showed a lot of other promising menu options. The atmosphere is awesome, but beware that it is a small facility — you may have to wait to snag a table or a seat at the bar!

Cool rustic décor. 2 large flat screen TVs behind the bar playing sports. Not a large venue so coming in large groups would be an issue. Had the BBQ burger. ½ pound Angus beef patty with ¼ pound of pulled beef topped with an onion ring. Just delectable. Perfect size that tingles the taste buds. Garden salad was a little overdressed with balsamic. Overall: 4 stars

Decent place to eat a decent burger. The Bison Burger didn’t blow me away, but I ate it and I was full after eating it. It was a good portion, though. My friend had Super Cuban burger and they thought it was really good. For me, the space was waaay too noisy and crowded, though. Very uncomfortable dining, actually. The tables would’ve been better than the bar, I think. The service was really friendly. I’m an old man and prefer quieter, more comfortable dining, really.

So I have mixed feelings about this place… We decided to go here because we heard this was a really great burger place and the reviews were pretty good too. When we got there at around 9pm, the place was packed. It’s a very tiny place with about 20 seats, so it was a bit of a wait to get seated(30 minutes or so). The girl at the front was super sweet, so we really didn’t mind despite the fact that we were starving. Once we were seated, we had to wait again to have our orders taken because it was a full house. I decided to get the chicken burger with a chorizo sausage with a side of onion rings and a black cherry soda. Yum! It was absolutely delicious! My company had the bbq burger with pulled beef with a side of poutine. To be very honest, I tried it and was very underwhelmed, especially since it was recommended by our server. We were very hungry and were hoping to get our food quickly with the wait already. Time kept going by and we weren’t getting anything. So we decided to ask our server if she knew how much longer it would be. Now, I know that’s probably not a very popular or liked question, but the answer wasn’t what I expected. We were told that if we come here, we should always expect to wait about half an hour for food. Which is fine, but it was said so rudely that it almost made me want to leave. It didn’t end there unfortunately, we got quite a few rude responses from her and weren’t very impressed with her customer service at all. Anyway, we were super hungry and once we received our long-awaited food, it was fantastic! I loved my chicken burger and the anchovy mayo was spectacular! The onion rings were super crispy and it was just overall good! The other burger was meh. But I would totally recommend my burger to anyone! You can always get one of their specialty burgers or build one yourself. They offer chicken, beef, lamb and even angus! Overall, pretty good food with mediocre service. If you want a burger, I would definitely say come here as long as you’re willing to spend over 14 $. But it’s worth it since you will standardly get a side of fries, spicy coleslaw and a pickle!
