Now CLOSED, this French-inspired pastry shop located at the Sheraton Hotel in Hamilton had an excellent selection of pastries and cakes for all occasions. Unfortunately due to the bad economy, it’s closure was sad for Hamiltonians who stopped by here here for coffee and other treats. While their doors have closed, the fact their recipes have been purchased by Benevito Foods in Toronto(you can still order the same cakes directly from them). Please be aware that I have notified the Unilocal help desk staff that this place is CLOSED but apparently they haven’t done anything to update this listing. Please do not travel to this location as it is no longer in business.

This café is a gem in a sea of mediocrity that is the Sheraton Hamilton. It is connected to the lobby of the hotel, and also to the passageway of shops behind the hotel. The café was not open on Canada Day(which is just fine with me), but I was able to enjoy 2 coffees, 1 tea and 1 tart in the following two days. They serve Starbucks coffee, have some damn tasty baked goods, and offer some of the nicest customer service I’ve experienced in a long time. In one instance I ordered a mocha with soy milk and no whip. Not too long ago I’d ordered the same thing in a US café, and was upcharged an entire 60 cents for the soy milk. Here, however, not only did they not charge me for soy milk, but she actually subtracted because I didn’t want the whipped cream! How cool is that?
