T H E B E S T C U P C A K E S. I have a sweet tooth, and believe me when I say thid but Cupcakes of Westdale have the most delicious cupcakes in all the shops I have ever tried. The shop is fairly small with a selection of cupcakes for humans as well as pets. For a birthday, you can purchase a cupcake with a little favour(from a wide variety of selections) to place on the cupcake and a single cupcake box for the cupcake. The red velvet cupcake with vanilla icing is my personal favourite, usually costing $ 2.50 a piece, unless it’s Tuesday where it’s $ 2 each. Their other flavours consist of the vanilla cupcake with vanilla icing, vanilla with chocolate icing, chocolate with vanilla icing, chocolate with chocolate icing, chocolate with mint icing and butterscotch with vanilla icing. Occassionally i see the cherry bomb and lemon cupcakes. Finally, on special holidays, they have special cupcakes. If you purchase 6 cupcakes, it’s tax free!

I always try to love this place to no avail. When I was non-vegan I came by probably 6 times as it was the closest cupcake place to my University. Their cake itself is great, moist and not too greasy. But, their buttercream is lacking. It is far too sweet and you can honestly feel the sugar crystals as you eat.

Went cupcake scouting for my wedding — since I’m a red velvet fan got one to try. Honestly I’ve made better ones myself — barely any cocoa flavour and generally want a richer less electric red. Very thick sweet buttercream on top. Still, the cupcake base was light and fluffy, not greasy — perhaps if I had had a chocolate one instead, this would be a 4 star instead of 3 star review.

Love their gourmet cupcakes specifically red velvet yummy! Each is $ 2.50, ½ dozen is $ 13 — yes I know pricey for a cupcake but really good. Well worth the treat whenever I’m in Steel town :)
