Textures Craftworks is an award-winning artisan collective and gift shop, in business since 1983. Our 50+ artisan members stock and staff the shop, and many of us welcome custom orders!
History
Established in 1983.
In 1983, bookbinder Sharon Beasley, silk painter Janne Hackl, and textile artist Margo Griffith realized that there wasn’t a sustainable year-round outlet for Hamilton-area craftspeople to sell their work, so they set to work building a business. One month later, seventeen artisans were on board, and «Textures…a combined effort of area artisans» was born.
Three decades later, Textures Craftworks has changed locations twice and now resides at 236 Locke St. South, but the original philosophy of a self-sustaining, not-for-profit shop that is managed, stocked, and staffed by member artisans remains the same.
Loyal customers supported our efforts and have helped Textures grow from an initial group of seventeen, to more than fifty talented craftspeople. Members continue to work together to offer a broad range of fine-quality, original craft pieces in a welcoming, service-driven environment.
We look forward to welcoming YOU to Textures soon!
