Went here last night with my date. We had to walk through the Anchor bar and were told to push open this black non-labelled door to get to their box office. We arrived at 7:25 for the 8:00 show and boy was the box office busy. We had to wait in line for about 15 minutes in order to buy our tickets(just over $ 18 a head). They told us it would be sold out. We then took an elevator to the second floor which is where the comedy club resided. The gentlemen at the entrance to the room were friendly and they sat us where we wanted to be. The room is comprised of a few small tables in the front and back with a bunch of very long tables in the centre. It’s pretty basic. Be aware that on a busy night(like ours) you’re packed pretty tight in this room. If you have any obnoxious/talkative guests sitting near you, it can interfere with the show. The walls are littered with pictures of comics. The waitress greeted us and we ordered our drinks. They also have a food menu with a few appetizer items including Anchor Bar wings. The drinks were priced a little high but they came quickly. The show started about 8:10. It started with a host, then two seemingly amateurs, and finally the headliner. It ended around 10:00pm. The quality of this show was not the greatest with a few good laughs here and there with far too many jokes about Hamilton, it gets old fast people. Oh well, perhaps we caught them on a bad night. If you have the time, it may be wise to do some research into how good the scheduled comedians are before you decide to go there for the night. I might try stop by on Wednesday amateur night to see how good/bad it is.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the new Yuk Yuks downtown you should take the time to do so. The new club is above McDonalds in Jackson Square. By checking out this place its apparent that they spared no expense to make it a top notch club offering a quality experience. What seems to set this club apart from others I’ve attended is the service, fast efficient and friendly. You won’t wait for a drink for too long like at other clubs I’ve been to. The actual comedy varies for weekend to weekend and depends on what you enjoy. I can tell the few times that I’ve been there I’ve always had a good time. Food worth mentioning is the chicken wings which are the same as Anchor Bar downstairs. One gem that this club offers is the Wednesday night amateur night. It’s only $ 3.50 to get in and although the name of the show is «amateur» there are pro comics who roll through and perform on a regular basis at these shows. It’s apparent that Hamilton has a burgeoning comedy scene going on with many funny local comics. I whole heartedly recommend this club as a great night out.
