Halibut was tasty, but a Small portion for the price. Coleslaw came from a tub. Tartar sauce from packets. The fries were McCain’s.

Haddock and chips were delicious! Lovely family owned restaurant. Fresh homemade desserts just like mom used to make. My husband and I will be back soon!

we went to Westside fish and chips while staying in Huntsville for few days –and it was the best decision ever! The place is cozy-with the country feeling, staff was friendly and attentive-and best of all the food was very tasty. Fish was superbly done, fries were crunchy and tasty … great value for families ! they even added few extra pieces to the family sized order –we could not even finish the fries and they were so delish .the fish pieces were good size for us –we were too full to try the desert but from what i noticed served on other tables they looked really yummie– everything was really good– definitely recommend and we would come back again– anytime we are in the area :)

This was probably the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time! Three of us visited and we all had the fish fry and we all loved it! We followed dinner up with some of the homemade deserts which were equally delicious! If you want a nice diner style atmosphere with great food, this is it!

Decent food for a fair price. Usually get the fish and chips and I’m rarely disappointed. Especially good for families.

Came by here on a Unilocal recommendation after a weekend of portaging in nearby Algonquin. Famished and dying for some A/C and cold beer, this place didn’t disappoint. It’s a little outside the ‘downtown’ core but parking is plentiful out back and I enjoyed the winter signs warning of falling snow(it was early August when we visited). The service was fast and friendly, and we ordered the family-sized fish ‘n chips — hey, if you’re in a place with Fish & Chips in its name, you probably should, you know. order that. For about $ 30 it came with a heap of fries and 6 pieces of fish, with a smallish coleslaw side. Actually they gave us 7, not sure if that was by accident, or perhaps because the pieces were quite on the small side. Flavour-wise it was pretty good, and the price was very reasonable, though a little too much batter, and too little fish. Also tried their spicy spuds, which were little more than lightly spiced home-made potato chips, but again not bad. If I could suggest any one thing, it would be to have bigger pieces of fish, even if it meant higher prices. Value was good, but the fishes were a tad small, is all. Aside from that, everything was great and I’d come back again.

I really am torn because I want to give them four stars, but I’m a huge seafood fan and I found their batter too heavy and greasy. The staff was very attentive, friendly and the service was good. And they keep the place nice and clean. I would recommend the halibut over the other cheaper fish options. We tried both the white fish and halibut. I just wish the batter was lighter and less greasy. I understand how difficult achieving that is.

Best resto in Huntsville! Wish we’d found it sooner. Food was amazingly cheap and delicious after a day of hiking in Algonquin. Best fish and chips and pie I’ve had in ages! Cute ambiance and great service. Six stars!

Food Quality & Price: Huge menu but every item looks delicious! I had the haddock with mashed potatoes. Usually I expect less of haddock than halibut, but Westside does it really well! I enjoyed my meal at a comfortable price. My husband and I both ordered fish entrée and a slice of lemon meringue pie for dessert. The bill totaled $ 25. GREAT price for the quality of food. Facility: A comfortable mom & pop /greasy spoon restaurant which was exactly what we were looking for during our stay in Huntsville. Everything was clean and the establishment has decent views and natural light. At each table, there are your regular condiments including tartar sauce, but I was also very amused by the«trivia question cards» to help patrons pass the time or used as conversation starters. What a smart idea! Service: Great service from Samantha. She was attentive but not pushy. All food was served fresh and quickly. She took away dirty plates and was very efficient at her job. Overall: This seems like a pretty simple and short review because there isn’t anything negative to say about Westside Fish & Chips. My husband and I did not expect amazing food, but we certainly got it — and at a decent price too. Westside also has posters up indicating that they froze their menu prices in 2011, so there is not price increase. I was pleased by that bold marketing move. If you went camping just north of Huntsville like we did, reserve a meal for Westside. You won’t be disappointed!
