I went to my first play at the Pavilion last night. As always, Western Canada Theatre put on a great show. However, this review is about the venue. The Pavilion is a true black box theatre. This gives theatre companies the opportunity to really make the space their own, even though it’s a fairly small venue. The seating isn’t super comfortable and I wish there were armrests but it’s all part of the experience. One thing I do like at the Pavilion is that you are allowed to bring drinks into the theatre, unlike most others where you are expected to finish in the lobby. The regular staff and volunteers here are also great. It’s definitely worth checking out a show or two here.
