We went here for a snack after a conference at the hotel. When we asked about on tab beer and mentioned that we were interested in tasting before ordering we were given several small glasses of the different beers that had available. My initial order of nibbles was not perfect — a little cold — which I mentioned when the server came around. To my surprise he came with a second plate free of charge to make up for it. The food — especially the second plate — was good and I guess you just pay a little premium for the location. Our service experience was excellent.

This place is a disaster. Food is horrible at any price. We ordered salad wraps. Bison sliders and maple bacon fries. The fries were just a poor decision. Bison over cooked, flavorless and uninspired. I love lettuce wraps until I had this deconstructed mess. 50 cents of ingredients no flavor. Best decision was to barely touch our food and get out. I suspect this is typical as the waitress didn’t notice or ask.

Disappointing experience. My family and I were looking forward to a few drinks and snacks in the Bighorn Lounge and were instead saddened to find out the lounge was full up and couldn’t accommodate our party of three women – in spite of the fact that the room was half empty and the place does not take reservations. We declined a seat at the bar and left to put our name down on the list at another restaurant in the lodge building, but came by again a few minutes later when we saw other groups wandering in and sitting down in the dining room. I inquired of the host if we could put our name down for a table and were rudely told that there are no tables. I asked why the couple in front of us were told to «sit wherever [you] like,» and I was snapped at: «I don’t have any tables!» Being a young woman dining with female family members, I’m used to being addressed this way in restaurants. The host appears to have realized his mistake, finding us in the lodge lobby ten minutes later and insisting he’d found a table for us(from where? He had no tables!). We declined. It’s unfortunate, since the food and service are usually great across the Kananaskis lodge, but we won’t be returning. I understand tables aren’t always available, but I won’t abide being talked down to, and will find other places to spend my money.
