I love this place! They have a set grilled cheese menu with lots of options, plus they always have a special with 3 different homemade soups available. I haven’t had anything here I didn’t like! Yesterday I tried the special(I can’t remember the name of it!) which had cheddar, blue cheese, bacon and homemade guacamole. It was even better than it sounds! All of the sandwiches come with chips and a little dill pickle. The soup comes in China tea cups. Such a whimsical little touch! I had the carrot, apple, ginger soup and it was fantastic! I was worried because I sometimes find ginger soups to be overpowering, but this had the perfect amount. The staff is warm and friendly and the décor is sort of an eccentric country/cottage look. The restaurant is also a mini art gallery with some cool pieces on the walls which are available for sale. Check this place out!

Was looking for a lunch place with a friend when I remembered there was a grilled cheese place in a little steep plaza. This place did not disappoint. This is not your regular grilled cheese place. The hideaway have an eclectic array of sandwiches with daily fresh homemade soups. I settled for the orange is the new black, cheddar & swiss cheeses with cilantro, avocados, tomatoes, diced jalapeños and red onions on reuben bread. At $ 11 this is their most expensive sandwich. The only negative for me is that they are only open for lunch, I will be back asap!

The Grilled Cheese Hideaway is the best lunch spot in the Kawarthas(if not Ontario!) Their food is AMAZING. The owners are very friendly, and have created a very cool, artsy, creative space. Prices are very reasonable for the calibre of food offered, and it is family-friendly. The sandwich creations are always VERY good, and the soups are creative, and always delicious(the stranger it sounds, the better it is!) The only drawback is that there aren’t gluten-free options.
